WIS 2012: Back to the Future II - Draft and Season Thread (1 Viewer)

Reyes 265 /344 /340

Headley 256/372/439

Pagan 316/358/469

Hart 253/319/495

Napoli 238/329/469

Morales 295/333/418

Jennings 265/333/398

Casilla 246/294/325

My team is fast.

Not sure I can even gather a lineup at this point, but here we go:

1- 2B Aaron Hill 263/340/413

2- CF Shance Victorino 250/317/409 or Andres Torres 213/346/303

3- 1B Edwin Encarnacion 274/336/584 or Adam LaRoche 287/381/527

4- LF Dayan Viciedo 291/312/515

5- 3B Kyle Seager 278/319/466

6- RF Logan Morrison 231/333/341

7- SS Tyler Pastornicky 248/281/324

8- CA Chris Iannetta 197/312/394 or Jose Lobaton 250/368/313 or Hank Conger 000/000/000

Would be nice if Edwin got a few games at 3B and was at least usable there. Not looking like it'll happen though. He has one game and made 1 error in 3 chances. :puke: Definitely need Victorino and Morrison to pick it up...could have a nice lineup if one or two more guys come through. Catch PAs are short right now, but Lobaton is back and I have Hank Conger back any day now. Waiting on the arrival of Stephen Drew and maybe Carl Crawford as well. Wish I could have that Crawford pick back.

Ellsbury going down REALLY hurt me. At this point, I have no idea what order I'd hit these guys in...

C - Russell Martin 194/342/341

1B - Eric Hosmer 214/277/372

2B - Dustin Ackley 248/322/367

3B - Placido Polanco 290/319/361 or Will Middlebrooks 314/340/559

SS - Jimmy Rollins 237/289/312

LF - Ben Revere 286/321/377 and Matt Diaz 259/343/397 platoon

CF - Cameron Maybin 223/310/314

RF - Bryce Harper 288/380/542 (easily my best hitter right now)

Also have

Robert Andino 245/303/339 at 2B and maybe SS (2 games)

Jason Bay 240/316/460 in 57 PA, coming back tomorrow

Jonathan Herrera 239/282/373 at 2B, 3B and maybe SS (1 game)

Lou Marson 186/314/256

:bag:

Altuve hitting 3rd in front of Votto is kind of a #### move to poor Joey.
I think most studies show best hitter should be 4th not 3rd, despite what big league managers do.
Oh boy. Link?
Not sure on what site but the studies "show" that your best hitters should be 2nd (higher OBP) and 4th (higher SLG). 3rd is actually less important than 1st, 5th, and maybe beyond because they actually come up with less hitters on. At least they is what they say.

2B - Kinsler .279/.350/.460

OF - Pence .269/.338/.505

OF - Braun .308/.393/.600

OF - Jones .315/.363/.602

1B - Moreland .273/.333/.508

C - Saltalamacchia .265/.308/.559

3B - Zimmerman .233/.314/.333

SS - Rodriguez .231/.282/.363

This team will hit the ball, but with my starting pitching :bag: , I am going to need to score some runs. My bullpen (Nathan, Lowe, Ross, RIP Rivera) should be OK.

Yeah, "The Book" was exactly what I was thinking of.

Lineup:

C Posey .295/.362/.462

1B

2B Phillips .271/.321/.412

SS furcal .316/.374/.433

3B Moose-Tacos .285/.354/.514

OF Baustista .226/.332/.467

CF BJ Upton .276/.331/.421

OF Cespedes .244/.314/.423

Also have (one of whom will end up being the 1B):

C Wilin Rosario .248/.283/.571

SS Pennington .196/.251/.270 (didn't know that type of line wasa possible)

OF Seth Smith .238/.357/.371

OF Aoki .283/.339/.415

OF/1B Guzman .248/.314/.365

Hoping Berkman comes back and gets another PA, so he's WIS eligible at least as a PH.

Pitching is actually OK with Santana, Samardzija, Milon, Miley, and Maholm and a bully with Byrdak, Lopez, Romo, and Putz. Also have Dice-K coming back.

My team is still in first place at FanTrax but we've lost about 40 points in the last 2 weeks.

Catcher: Yadi is crushing the ball and Hanigan has 120 PAs as a backup. Brett Hayes already qualifies for WIS so I might have some trade bait.

First base: Carlos Pena is hitting .203 and only has 8 HR. Needs to step it up. Will probably be platooning with Morse at this rate.

Second base: Infante needs to keep doing his Robbie Cano impersonation. Backups Fontenot and Raburn have not worked out so far. Chris Getz has 94 good PAs.

Third base: Kung Fu Panda needs to come back and get some more PAs, even if his power will suck because he broke his hamate. At least if he can stay out of prison that would be a start. Todd Frazier will be a fine platoon partner for him.

Shortstop: Alexei Ramirez is up to .220/.240/.280 so that's an improvement. Backup Ryan Theriot has 103 PAs but hasn't played a game at SS yet. Jordy Mercer did get 3 starts at SS for the Pirates but needs about 40 more ABs to be usable.

Left field: Matt Kemp has been unstoppable when he plays but I'll be lucky if he ends up with 550 PA.

Center field: Austin Jackson... see Matt Kemp.

Right field: David Murphy has been solid. Will Venable has been better than expected and I'm hoping he has enough range to back up all 3 OF positions. Reed Johnson has 91 usable PAs.

Starting pitcher: Lots of depth. Strasburg has been awesome but will top out around 160 IP. Lance Lynn was supposed to be my setup man and instead he's my #2 starter. Hopefully regression won't eat him. Ervin Santana has been a disaster. Buehrle can fill in and be a respectable #3. Bedard has been OK as a #4. Jake Westbrook, Anthony Bass and Joe Blanton started out hot and have sucked lately. Noesi has been bad all year and Iwakuma ended up in the 'pen. I'm hoping one of these guys stays usable and/or I can flip the rest for better quality at #5

Reliever: Ryan Webb has been unexpectedly great, and I hope he can keep it up. Ziegler, Wilhelmsen, Perkins is a pretty solid 2-3-4 at this point. Duensing and Cook would be usable and so would Joe Smith. So I've got a little bit of depth here.

26.1 innings of 2 ER ball yesterday for team OW. Currently have 808 innings, 97 starts, and a team ERA of 3.65. If they can stay healthy, I will have a few pieces to move.

I'd like to reaffirm my 1B/OF for SP trade request. As long as we're not talking Reddick, Trout or Joyce, I'll be your huckleberry.

Edit: I realize this will limit the quality of starter I get, but I really just need a guy that has started more than 10 games so far.

I have 7 guys with 11+ starts right now (and all 7 have at least 5 quality starts), so I should have a couple to move at some point. I can't say which ones yet, other than Anibal they're all at about the same level of mediocrity.

Any FA's out there tracking somewhat comparable to the ones taken with wild card slots last year after the season?

Nava looking pretty decent, couple relievers maybe. . .

What does this mean?
Last year in this draft you could forfeit a draft pick during the draft and defer the pick until after the season was over. Very helpful if you are stuck with short innings or PA's at a particular position(Vogelsong was available IIRC). It was decided that we wouldn't do that this time around.

We didn't do that last year, did we? I though we talked about doing it this year, but decided against it.

Yeah we definitely didn't do that last year

My bad then, I thought that was part of last years draft. Was there some fill in element? Where you could replace players or something. I wasn't in last year so this is all second hand interpretation.

I think a few people might have picked up 200K (min. salary) players to meet requirements, but it was pretty much you get whatever you drafted. There were also a bunch of trades before the sim started that helped people out.

If I recall correctly, there was one team that couldn't fill the 25 man roster with eligible players. They were able to add a minimum WIS salary player to fill the roster.

CA - Jesus Montero .264/.301/.413 John Buck .165/.296/.287

1B - Casey McGahee .236/.318/.350

2B - Rickie Weeks .186/.314/.306

SS - Starlin Castro .300/.314/.445

3B - Jed Lowrie .265/.353/.491

OF:

Carlos Gomez .256/.313/.421 8 SB 134 PA

Jarrod Dyson .253/.323/.294 12 SB 194 PA

Austin Kearns .279/.338/.471 74 PAs

Nyjer Morgan .242/.307/.304 7 SBs 179 PAs

Emilio Bonificia (2B also) .268/.351/.315 20 SBs 170 PAs

Rajai Davis .272/.331/.449 17 SBs 136 PAs

Justin Turner, Taylor Green, Cesar Izturis as backup IFs

I'm... cautiously optimistic about pitching...

Verlander is insane and McCarthy and Yo are both playing really well as well(better than their #s would show). Cobb and Delgado seem to be getting more comfortable as well, and Britton is supposed to be back by the end of the month.

I just have to hope my RP (Axford, Dunn, Parra, Valverde, Veras) can try and get some of their #s down while still striking out as many guys as they have... 12 K/9 is great, but if you also have 5 BB/9, i'm a little worried...

Trying to think if I've ever made better back-to-back picks in a draft than R.A. Dickey at 9.20 and Josh Willingham at 10.5

I suppose I should wait until the season finishes, especially at the rate I'm losing pitchers to injury.

Man we are gonna be wayyyyyyyyyyy short at SS with Alex Gonzalez dying and Izturis playing once a week. :kicksrock:
Between Peralta, Everth Cabrera and Elliot Johnson I've already got 569 PAs at short. And I will need arms badly.

:hifive:Pretty sure we have a ton of extra arms and some really good bullpen guys. We'll talk.
I also should have extra SS PAs and will be in desperate need for SP innings as well.

I drafted 20 pitchers. Right now, 10 of them are not active in the majors -- four are injured, five are in the minors, and one is a street free agent.

I also have nine batters out of commission, including who was supposed to be my starting 500-PA catcher, Alex Avila.

...

I don't know if any of the WIS FBGs are Red Sox fans ... but what's up with Adrian Gonzalesz? He's getting out-homered by Tyler Colvin and Jeff Francouer, and 40-something Jim Thome is only one HR behind with 250 fewer PAs.

Didn't realize this until now but my last 3 picks didn't make it to my Fantrax team - Freddy Galvis, Anthony Gose and Chris Archer.

Galvis has 200 terrible PAs at 2B and probably won't rack up many more due to a 50-game PED suspension.

Gose hasn't played in the MLB yet this year, but my dream was for him to get a September callup and be a monster pinch runner, so there's hope there.

Archer... one start so far but a pretty good one. He could really help my staff.

Scutaro up to 27 SS games :pickle:

Could be in trouble at C now though with brutal(and I mean sub 500 OPS BRUTAL) Hundley being sent down <_<

I only have 57 games started from my pitchers. :bag:
I only have 43. Thanks Kansas City for making Aaron Crow a reliever! Thanks Milwaukee and Atlanta for making Livan Hernandez a reliever! Thanks Boston for making Andrew Miller a reliever! You guys are great! :mellow:Meanwhile, I have more OF and relievers than I know what to do with.
