WIS 2012: Back to the Future II - Draft and Season Thread (1 Viewer)

As good as time as any to do this... (I ranked the players in RF/G at their position since I think that is how the grades in WIS range are given)

PROJECTED LINEUP

CF Denard Span - 270/334/375 - 350 pa - .995 f% - 2nd among OF RF/G - Looks like he will be a good CF but the hope is that his OBP picks up

RF Jason Heyward - 272/340/497 - 327 pa - .983 - 36th - Near what I expected

LF Matt Holliday - 317/397/520 - 368 pa - .983 - Bad range - Great so far

3B Trevor Plouffe - 253/325/546 - 255 pa - .944 - 8th among 3B RF/G - Longoria could let Plouffe use some at bats in the OF (17g so far) and as a PH

1B Garrett Jones - 268/290/507 - 224 pa - .996 - 39th - Gaby screwed me but at least Jones and Giambi should be a decent combo

C Jonathan Lucroy - 345/387/543 - 151 pa - .991 - 9th - 24% CS - Platoon with Thole or Clevenger, we will see how far his numbers drop

2B Gordon Beckham - 243/291/380 - 327 pa - .986 - 17th - No surprise

SS Yunel Escobar - 254/299/335 - 362 pa - .980 - 6th - Ruined my lineup but at least is a good defender

BENCH

3B Evan Longoria - 329/433/561 - 97 pa - .900 - 19th - Problems getting healthy, a half season would be great

1B Jason Giambi - 240/385/333 - 96 pa - 1.000 - Bad - Looks like he will play enough 1B, need a hot streak

C Josh Thole - 264/319/315 - 197 pa - .990 - 32nd - 27% - Battling Clevenger for the LH platoon role

C Steve Clevenger - 269/288/380 - 111 pa - .994 - 37th - 11% - Can he get enough PA to platoon with Lucroy

OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis - 268/329/402 - 282 pa - .974 - 49th - Coming back down to earth put a decent pickup

OF Tony Campana - 25/28 stealing bags and RF/G kills his defense

OF Steve Lombardozzi - 269/288/380 - 111 pa - .994 - 37th - Likely will not reach 20 games for any IF spot

STARTING STAFF

Ryan Dempster - 86 ip - 1.99 era - 1.01 whip - 3.08 dice - 3.18 k/bb - 0.63 hr/9

Chris Capuano - 111 ip - 2.91 era - 1.16 whip - 3.60 dice - 2.86 k/bb - 0.97 hr/9

Jonathon Niese - 103 ip - 3.73 era - 1.23 whip - 4.11 dice - 2.84 k/bb - 1.30 hr/9

Mat Latos - 104 ip - 4.13 era - 1.20 whip - 4.16 dice - 3.27 k/bb - 1.46 hr/9

Chad Billingsley - 104 ip - 4.30 era - 1.40 whip - 3.32 dice - 2.94 k/bb - 0.77 hr/9

Travis Wood - 62 ip - 3.05 era - 1.13 whip - 4.63 dice - 1.75 k/bb - 1.16 hr/9

Zach McAllister - 42 ip - 3.40 era - 1.28 whip - 3.00 dice - 4.10 k/bb - 0.85 hr/9

So far so good, Dempster and Capuano will probably slide a bit but Latos has once again snapped out of an early season funk. Hopefully Wood and McAllister can continue to be good options to fill any gaps in starts or be bullpen options if my staff remains healthy.

BULLPEN

Ernesto Frieri - 38 ip - 0.71 era - 1.00 whip - 2.50 dice - 3.00 k/bb - 0.47 hr/9

Jason Grilli - 33 ip - 1.87 era - 0.95 whip - 2.76 dice - 3.18 k/bb - 1.07 hr/9

Rafael Soriano - 33 ip - 1.60 era - 1.34 whip - 2.32 dice - 2.27 k/bb - 0.00 hr/9

Randy Choate - 22 ip - 2.45 era - 1.05 whip - 2.82 dice - 2.22 k/bb - 0.00 hr/9

Brad Lincoln - 51 ip - 2.98 era - 1.11 whip - 3.51 dice - 4.00 k/bb - 1.23 hr/9

Ross Detwiler - 78 ip - 3.43 era - 1.27 whip - 3.86 dice - 2.12 k/bb - 0.80 hr/9

You never know when the one terrible outing will come but this is shaping up to be a very good bullpen. Frieri, Grilli, and Soriano will close out games with Choate assigned a tough lefty or two. Lincoln (2.33 IP/G) and Detwiler (4.37) may be able to provide solid long relief work possibly aided by McAllister and Wood.

SPARE PARTS FOR NOW

Jedd Gyorko, Adeinis Hechavarria, Dave Sappelt, Gaby Sanchez, Eric Sogard, Juan Uribe, Jordan Lyles, Jeanmar Gomez, Chris Tillman, JJ Hoover, Carlos Marmol, Mark Rzepczynski, Rafael Dolis, Dylan Axelrod, Deck McGuire, Todd Coffey

Lyles and Gomez offer 5.00 era's in 60+ innings of starter work so far. I have 4 relievers with 25+ IP and horrible numbers. Hoover (18 ip) and Tillman (8 ip) could be good additions to a staff if they get the innings.

POSSIBLE TRADES

If Longoria, Plouffe, and the starting OF get enough PA for the 4 positions, Niewenhuis could be on the block.

If Lucroy and either Thole or Clevenger get enough PA, I could move a 150-300+ PA catcher.

Lyles could get in 100+ innings of subpar starting. Gomez is in the minors but has 73 of those subpar innings. If Hoover and Tillman get to 25 with good numbers, I could have a good amount of pitching to move. Also could have a fire sale on 30-40 innings garbage relievers.

A lot can change before the season ends but it looks like my wants would be either PH PAs or simple upgrades at any position. So if you need Lyles innings and have a better 1B than Jones, a swap of your 1B and maybe a PH for Lyles and Jones is probably the type of deal that will happen. I won't be making deals until it becomes obvious I have the PAs or IPs needed at a position.

All-Star Break Squad (it's bad, guys)

C: Jose Lobaton 221/341/286 in 91 PA

C: Chris Iannetta 197/312/394 in 77 PA

Neither throw anyone out...might need Hank Conger too to get a full catcher. Suck.

1B: Edwin Encarnacion 295/382/565 23 HR

1B: Adam Laroche 255/340/496 15 HR

1B: Anthony Rizzo 354/367/688 in 49 PA

Kind of loaded at 1B. E5 has 1 game at 3B and 2 in LF, but I think he'll be 1B or DH the rest of the way. Maybe I can trade someone here.

2B: Aaron Hill 300/355/505 11 HR, 7 SB, 4 E

WOOT!

SS: Stephen Drew 179/226/214 in 9 games

SS: Tyler Pastornicky 248/281/324 in 157 PA

SS: Munenori Kawasaki 185/254/200 in 72 PA

So bad. Need a half year of a decent Stephen Drew here. Going to be a great #7 hitter! :dead:

3B: Kyle Seager 243/306/420 10 HR, 7 SB, 7 E

Was hot, now sucking a bit. Average D at least. Would be pumped about 15 homers, decent D and an obp around 320.

LF: Dayan Viciedo 255/296/442 14 HR 0 E

Was on fire, not now. Doesn't walk ever, which sucks, but happy with the power.

CF: Shane Victorino 245/311/369 8 HR, 19 SB

Great defense, but man does he suck at the plate this year. Was hoping he could lead off. Wah wah.

RF: Logan Morrison 249/328/443 11 HR, 4 E

Another disappointment. Need a big 2nd half.

Other scrubs include: Jeff Baker, Danny Worth, Carl Crawford, Andres Torres

SP1: Zack Greinke 3.32 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 111 IP, 111 K

SP2: Colby Lewis 3.51 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, 100 IP, 90 K

SP3: Felix Doubront 4.41 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, 96 IP, 97 K

SP4: Bruce Chen 5.22 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, 98 IP, 72 K

SP5: Rick Porcello 4.47 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, 96 IP, 56 K

Props to Daniel Hudson and Tim Lincecum for making this a mediocre rotation!

RP: Troy Patton (L) 39 IP, 3.46 ERA, 1.00 WHIP

RP: Darren O'Day ® 35 IP, 2.57 ERA, 1.03 WHIP

RP: Alex Burnett ® 43 IP, 2.49 ERA, 1.13 WHIP

RP: Anthony Swarzak ® 63 IP, 4.31 ERA, 1.34 WHIP (2.41 IP/G)

RP: Javy Guerra ® 26 IP, 3.12 ERA, 1.42 WHIP

Other losers: Nate Adcock, Juan Cruz, Heath Bell, Ross Ohlendorf, Nick Blackburn

Ok, I'll give this a shot.

Catcher

(s) Miguel Montero- .272/.378/.419, 8 HR, 45 RBI, 291 AB

Tony Cruz- .197/.194/.333, 1 HR, 4 RBI, 67 AB

If Montero goes down, God help me. But should he stay healthy, I'm fine here. May need a backup later on.

1st Base

(s) Carlos Lee- .280/.334/.402, 5 HR, 29 RBI, 293 AB

Yonder Alonso- .263/.344/.362, 3 HR, 23 RBI, 332 AB

Matt Adams- .244/.286/.384, 2 HR, 13 RBI, 91 AB

I will need to move Lee or Alonso for help elsewhere (*cough* starting pitching *cough*). Neither of them are sparkling, but Lee's the better of the two so I imagine he'll go.

2nd Base

(s) Jemile Weeks- .222/.312/.309, 2 HR, 13 RBI, 12 SB, 356 AB

John McDonald (also 2B and 3B...hopefully)- .267/.308/.488, 4 HR, 12 RBI

Adrian Cardenas and Adam Rosales- too ####ty to mention

Weeks has been a mega-bomb up to this point, but he has done better of late and he can at least run well. Fielding is below average. McDonald may not have enough games at 2B to qualify, but he'd help if he did. Cardenas and Rosales suck.

3rd Base

(s) Miguel Cabrera- .324/.382/.557, 18 HR, 71 RBI (yeesh!), 380 AB

Jose Lopez (also 1B and maybe 2B)- .267/.290/.422, 4 HR, 27 RBI, 169 AB

Lonnie Chisenhall- .278/.297/.458, 3 HR, 9 RBI, 74 AB

Looks like Miggy will be more than useful at 3B as he's got a decent fielding percentage and his range factor is about league average. Oh, and he's hitting like Miggy does. It'd be nice if Lopez got 2B eligibility since I'll need him there more than 3B.

Shortstop

(s) Asdrubal Cabrera- .286/.364/.467, 11 HR, 42 RBI, 434 RBI

Maybe John McDonald, Adam Rosales, and Adrian Cardenas

Assdribble was toying with a .400 OBP and .500 SLG earlier, but has faded a bit of late. He's still some kind of wonderful and now is fielding at an elite level at SS (league average glove, exceptional range). Reserves could be issue.

Outfield

(s) Matt Joyce- .279/.387/.512, 11 HR, 34 RBI, 239 AB

(s) Josh Reddick- .268/.348/.532, 20 HR, 43 RBI, 357 AB

(s) Mike Trout- .341/.397/.562, 12 HR, 40 RBI, 26 SB, 290 AB

Justin Maxwell- .231/.324/.471, 8 HR, 24 RBI, 139 AB

Roger Bernardina- .252/.339/.387, 2 HR, 13 RBI, 8 SB, 128 AB

Mark Kotsay- .292/.370/.375, 1 HR, 7 RBI, 81 AB

Really happy with my OF. Unfortunately, Lee and Alonso are both exclusively 1B it looks like, but thanks to Josh Reddick exploding and Mike Trout's awesomeness, I'm happy here. Even Maxwell and Bernardina aren't obnoxiously bad reserves.

Rotation

Brandon Beachy- 3.40 ERA, 0.963 WHIP, 81 IP, 13 GS, 7.56 K/9, 3.22 BB/9

Vance Worley- 3.54 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, 84 IP, 14 GS, 7.93 K/9, 3.21 BB/9

Tommy Hanson- 3.71 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, 106.2 IP, 18 GS, 7.85 K/9, 3.21 BB/9

Kevin Correia- 4.34 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 91.1 IP, 16 GS, 3.45 K/9, 2.66 BB/9

Justin Masterson- 4.40 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, 114.2 IP, 18 GS, 7.30 K/9, 3.69 BB/9

I NEED ANOTHER STARTER. Seriously. I just need innings and I have Lee or Alonso to deal for one. Not asking for the moon, people. As for the rotation I have, I'm kinda meh on them. Beachy's been great, but he's now hurt. Worley saw DL time earlier, Hanson's due for an arm explosion soon, and Correia is due for a reality check soon.

Bullpen

Casey Janssen (closer)- 2.36 ERA, 0.87 WHIP, 34.1 IP, 9.17 K/9, 1.31 BB/9

Mitchell Boggs- 2.97 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, 37.2 IP, 7.17 K/9, 2.15 BB/9

Andrew Miller (yes, that Andrew Miller)- 2.75 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, 19.2 IP, 9.61 K/9, 3.20 BB/9

Eric O'Flaherty- 2.87 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, 31.1 IP, 7.47 K/9, 3.45 BB/9

Aaron Crow- 4.04 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 35.2 IP, 8.58 K/9, 3.53 BB/9

Livan Hernandez- 5.26 ERA, 1.5 WHIP, 39.1 IP, 6.41 K/9, 2.06 BB/9

Fernando Cordero and Sergio Santos- TBD (health and competence issues)

Fairly alright with my bullpen. I have a few decent pieces but little depth. Crow and Hernandez not starting is disappointing.

Mid-2012 version of guys we all whiffed on:

Daniel Nava .275/.388/.427 in 207 PA

Quentin Berry .299/.388/.417 in 168 PA

Elian Herrera .243/.326/.331 in 191 PA (eligible at 2B, 3B, SS & OF)

Scott Diamond 2.62 ERA & 1.177 WHIP in 79 IP

Andy Pettitte, Travis Blackley and Craig Stammen would be good enough to help most teams as well.

C- It's an absolute wasteland. I mean it's just really, really bad. Jose Molina (.190/.255/.321) has played about as much as I thought but played way worse both offensively and defensively. Miguel Olivo (.201/.219/.356) is my only C hitting over the Mendoza line, and Henry Blanco (.167/.196/.204) sucks as well. The goal at this point is to get enough PAs from these losers so I don’t have to trade for one.

1B- Albert Pujols (.268/.334/.460) started out as a HUGE disappointment and has rebounded to just be a disappointment. David Ortiz (.312/.406/.607) has been a monster. I will need to trade one of these for a SP probably.

2B- Mark Ellis (.271/.371/.361) has rebounded from last year pretty well, but will probably be short on PAs at the end of the year.

SS- Alcides Escobar (.307/.350/.407) has exceeded my wildest expectations. I expect a substantial drop-off in the second half, but hopefully it’s not too much. Mike Aviles (.260/.283/.410) has been pretty good. I will almost certainly trade one of these for a SP, hope they can both stay healthy the rest of the season.

3B- Adrian Beltre (.326/.358/.524) has been fantastic. Chris Johnson (.275/.321/.405) has been quite good considering where he was drafted. Eduardo Escobar (.216/.301/.270) has played multiple positions and should provide some PA insurance.

OF- I was hoping for a breakout season from Jay Bruce (.249/.326/.505) and instead gotten more of a stat-line that seems to be his norm. Shin-Soo Choo (.299/.384/.492) has rebounded majorly from last year and is chugging along. Drew Stubbs (.215/.286/.367) is a horrible, horrible person, wish I drafted another CF. Allen Craig (.313/.377/.614) has been mashing so far in limited PAs, I wish they’d play him at 2B. Chris Denorfia (.299/.355/.443) has also been hot recently, maybe I’ll be able to flip an OF for a SP too.

SP- :X Not only do most of them suck, all of them give up a ton of HRs. Will go in the order I picked them:

Chris Carpenter (####) – Thanks a lot, Chris.

Brandon Morrow (1.00 WHIP/ 3.41 DICE) – Excellent until he was injured, really need him to come back and keep pitching well.

Jhoulys Chacin (1.865/ 6.97) – Way to show up for Spring Training out of shape, fatty.

Jake Peavy (.992/ 3.28) – Has single handedly saved my pitching staff into maybe being mediocre.

Bartolo Colon(1.25/ 3.93) – Inconsistent, oft-injured, but numbers right now not too bad.

Jeremy Guthrie(1.64/ 6.05) – 2nd Rockies SP I took, solid decision making from me.

Blake Beavan(1.41/ 5.36) – Sent to AAA after excessive sucking.

Chris Volstad(1.65/ 4.15) – Don’t let the decent DICE fool you, he’s 0-7 with a 7.94 ERA.

Kyle Kendrick(1.48/ 4.53) – Started out relieving and then switched to the rotation after injury, so he’s averaging about 4.5 IP/game, but he’s not doing well anyways so who cares.

I will need to trade for SP(s).

RP – Best so far have been Chris Perez(1.11/ 2.29), Jake McGee(.897/ 2.52), Joel Peralta(1.01/ 4.19), and Pedro Strop(1.20/3.40). But relievers are so volatile you can’t really get a read on them until the season is fully over, so who knows.

Liking my team right now...

C - Joe Mauer (866 ops), John Jason (810), Martin Maldonado (731), and Devin Mesoraco (689) - a real strength.

1B - Morneau (752) with a nice pinch-hitter in Lyle Overbay (900). David Cooper (764) could have a nice 2nd half.

2B - Danny Espinosa (690) and Darwin Barney (668). Plenty of tolerable ABs.

SS - Zack Cozart (700), Brendan Ryan (556!) - ok if defense ratings are good

3B - Chipper (904) and Pedro Alvarez (792) will make a nice tandem.

OF - Andrew McCutchen (1055), Dexter Fowler (925), and Gerardo Parra (782). All should have plus range. Backups are weak here.

SP - Cliff Lee (1.22 whip), Chris Sale (0.96), Adam Wainwright (1.34), and Derek Holland (1.28). Fill in the rest with some combo of Phil Humber, Charlie Morton, Liam Hendricks, Jeff Francis, and maybe Trevor Bauer.

Pen - Vinnie Pestano (1.00) and Sean Marshall (1.32) are anchors. Henry Rodriguez and Tom Gorzelanny will have meaningful roles. Looking for Brad Brach and Scott Elbert to have a solid 2nd half to round it out.

Trade options: will likely look to deal a catcher and perhaps one of the 2B. Will likely be looking for an upgrade at SP4, SP5, 1B, SS, and/or OF4.

So i am looking at a batting lineup like this:

1. Gerardo Parra (349/433)

2. Joe Mauer (417/450)

3. Andrew McCutchen (420/636)

4. Dexter Fowler (386/539)

5. Chipper Jones (401/503)

6. Justin Morneau (311/441)

7. Danny Espinosa (311/379)

8. Zack Cozart (295/405)

So i am looking at a batting lineup like this:1. Gerardo Parra (349/433)2. Joe Mauer (417/450)3. Andrew McCutchen (420/636)4. Dexter Fowler (386/539)5. Chipper Jones (401/503)6. Justin Morneau (311/441)7. Danny Espinosa (311/379)8. Zack Cozart (295/405)
Imagine if Justin Morneau and Espinosa didn't suck. That 2-5 is pretty sick

Lineup should be decent. If Castro doesn't come back from injury I could be in pretty big trouble @ C. Infield defense could be an adventure(Scuts/Johnson/Young).

Alex Gordon, OF .293/.375/.429

Marco Scutaro, SS .272/.323/.359

Melky Cabrera, OF .360/.403/.503

Curtis Granderson, OF .246/.347/.536

Freddie Freeman, 1B .275/.330/.472

Michael Young, 3B .271/.300/.346

Kelly Johnson, 2B .239/.329/.376

Jason Castro/Nick Hundley C .254/.330/.379 & .166/.226/.259

Bench is pretty meh(might have to cut it down to keep and extra P too). Jones is the only guy with pop. Callaspo should be a solid D replacement at least. Betancourt will probably have to play some SS

Casey Kotchman, 1B .232/.294/.360

Alberto Callaspo, 3B .252/.322/.366

Ryan Sweeney, OF .267/.311/.379

Yuniesky Betancourt, MI .250/.279/.438

Andruw Jones, OF .230/.303/.500

Scraps that won't make the cut unless there is an emergency

Nick Punto(126 PA) .210/.315/.286

Eric Hinske(120 PA) .206/.283/.299

Ronny Paulino(64 PA) .254/.266/.302

Jeter, SS .309/.353/.409

Altuve, 2B .293/.339/.421

Rios, OF .313/.348/.528

Votto, 1B .342/.465/.604

Lawrie, 3B .280/.326/.415

Saunders, OF .259/.318/.420

DYoung, OF .266/.290/.399

Kottaras, C .212/.412/.365/Ramos .265/.354/.398/ Mathis .250/.294/.513

Bench guys - Brandon Crawford, Ichiro, Orlando Hudson, Vernon Wells, Juan Rivera, - lots of PA's from this group but none that good.

Starting pitchers:

Anibal Sanchez

Yu Darvish

<huge dropoff>

Mike Leake

Phil Hughes

Barry Zito

<awful Jays>

Ricky Romero

Henderson Alvarez

Relivers look solid:

Balfour

Capps

Dotel

Furbush

Laffey

LPerez

Mijares

Lyon

FFrancisco

Lineup:

1. M Bourn OF (.300/.356/.437)

2. N Walker 2B (.293/.360/.427)

3. A Rodriguez 3B(.276/.356/.449)

4. J Hamilton OF(.290/.357/.592)

5. P Goldschmidt 1B(.294/.364/.536)

6. I Desmond SS (.286/.322/.503)

7. C Heisey/S Duncan OF (.274/.317/.384///.225/.322/.434)

8. W Bloomquist/T Hafner DH (.306/.331/.407///.229/.356/.419)

9. J Arencibia C (.242/.279/.466)

Loney/Schierholtz/Schneider Bench

Pretty decent offense IMO (of course as i type this ARod gets hit on the hand...looks bad)

Pitching Staff: (IP...BB/9...K/9...ERA...WHIP

Starters:

1. Kershaw (140.1...2.44...8.72...3.14...1.083)

2. Kuroda (129.1...2.37...7.17...3.34...1.183)

3. Shields (131.1...2.67...8.5...4.39...1.439)

4. Karstens (46...1.76...6.07...3.52...1.174)

5. Drabek/Eovaldi (71.1...5.93...5.93...4.67...1.598///56.1...3.20...5.43...4.15...1.473)

*Good top 3, and innings eaters, which I need

*Karstens has been real solid since returning...need him to stay healthy

*Hope Eovaldi stays in the rotation, because every inning he pitches is one less for Drabek...Ideally I don't even activate Drabek, but I might just need his innings, because I have no other guys who have started any games at all)

Bullpen:

B Badenhop (40.2...2.43...6.24...3.54...1.402)

R Betancourt (35...2.31...9...3.09...1.114)

J Isringhausen (32...3.66...5.34...3.09...1.219)

K Ggegg (30.1...4.45...7.71...3.56...1.418)

B Myers (32...1.69...5.91...3.37...1.281)

Serviceable but pretty mediocre...No lefties...Hoping Andrew Bailey can come off the DL and maybe sneak in 30-40 solid IP for me

I'm looking forward to the wheeling and dealing I'll have to do to convert my 8-man rotation into a better 5-man rotation.

Sp1 Strasburg 111.1 IP, 1.14 WHIP, 0.73 HR/9

Looking to consolidate for a better starter or an upgrade almost anywhere on offense (SS preferably)

My hitting mostly stinks, but my corner OF of Soriano and Cody Ross gets better every single day.

Youk seems to be alive now.

This could be my team's best day of the season. King Felix with the perfect game and David DeJesus with two HRs (bringing his total for the year to 4).

I'm going to be a few hundred IP short. Drafted 10 starters (11 if you count Andrew Cashner), and six of them have crap-ped out (7 if you count Cashner) . :kicksrock:

David Price and Jason Vargas are actually a reasonable 1-2. Then there's a huge drop to Luke Hochevar, Joe Saunders, and Derek Lowe :X Saunders and Lowe won't reach 160 IP.

Then after those guys, I have 177 IP -- total -- from four healthy relievers.

jfranco is hoarding arms

I should have a few arms to sell. Travis Wood (107 IP), Jordan Lyles (102.2), and Jeanmar Gomez (73 IP) average over 5 innings per game pitched and provide ERAs in the 5.00 range. Chris Tillman is at 51 starter innings and counting with a 3.71 ERA and could be available. Dylan Axelrod, Carlos Marmol, Fransisco Rodriguez, Mark Rzepczynski, and Rafeal Dolis probably will be available out of the bullpen with ERA's between 4 and 6.50. JJ Hoover was just called up and is 5 innings away from 25 with a 2.70 ERA. If he qualifies, he probably is trade bait.

If the rest of my staff stays healthy the last month, all of the above will be available. I would be looking for minor upgrades in my roster. On offense, I could use an upgrade on Escobar at SS and would include him in the trade. A platoon RH 1B with 200 or so PA's would also be useful. I could use a upgrade over Beckham at 2B as well so I can use Lombardozzi in other areas. I guess I could upgrade my pitching staff as well. Currently, the highest ERA on my (if they stay healthy enough to pass 1460) pitching staff is Mat Latos at 3.56.

On offense, I could let go of Campana's steals and Clevenger's 174 PA's at C.

Marmol's 8.0 BB/9 should be fun

Not for the faint of heart.

There are only 113 player seasons in the entire WIS database with a BB/9 rate higher than 8.0. Tip your cap to the immortal Stu Flythe who walked 61 batters in 42 IP for the 1936 A's (13.96 BB/9). He also had 16 wild pitches and an ERA over 13.

76 years ago tomorrow, Flythe started against the White Sox at Shibe Park. He lasted 3+ innings and walked 11  . Here's the box score.

It is just amazing to me that he walks 8 per 9 and he still has a FIP and xFIP under 5.
