Do we have a league # yet?
I'm having problems setting AAA rules. No matter what I do, the AAA hitters pool of 2012 player doesn't get any bigger than 212 players. Pitchers aren't as bad because there are ~430 of them in the AAA eligible pool. I don't remember this being a problem last year. Anybody got any ideas?
Unless there's some way of increasing the available AAA player pool, the only workaround would involve some searching around to find players on your roster who are AAA eligible and park them there. This would potentially screw up pre-season sim live and the first league game until people can set their rosters right.

Any way for us to get a look at the list of 212?

Like you said it will be annoying until the first game is played, but setting my team would be ok with that list. Hopefully WIS just fixes it and we don't have to have everyone else confirm that the list is sufficient for their team.

My hitting is not very good or deep:

Batting Totals 5492 PA 4862 AB 168 678 42-23 1134-524 28.9 .254 .330 .417 B/C- $33,182,331

But my pitching is pretty good:

Pitching Totals 80-47-116 1,323 IP, 3.05 ERA, .230 OAV, 1.12 WHIP, 8.20 K/9, 2.39 BB/9, 0.93 HR/9, 1205-352 K/BB, $36,893,931

I am going to lose a lot of close games.

I think I know what's happening.Manually drafted AAA players still have to comply with the AAA rules you set. So if you set AAA to "average" then you can have any hitter below 3mil (approximately) and any pitcher below 1.5mil (approximately).Try setting the AAA to "way above average" and just about everyone should show up.

Right now...

hitting 5814 PA, 289/347/464, B/C+, 177 HR, 113sb/43cs, 45.5mil

pitching 1448 IP, 1.22 WHIP, 0.82hr/9, .245oav, 2.72 bb/9, 3.43 ERA, 35.7mil

I'm looking at...

5797 PA 254/320/393, B+/B-, 143 HR, 145 SB/31 CS, 36.5 Mill

1276 IP, 1.33 WHIP, 1.14 HR/9, .257 OAV, 3.08 BB/9, 3.98 ERA, 25.5 mil

hitting 5636 PA, 274/337/446, B/B-, 178 HR, 70/36 sb/cs, 40.2mil

pitching 1371 IP, 1.19 WHIP, 0.88 hr/9, .234 oav, 2.86 bb/9, 8.47 k/9, 3.30 ERA, 34.7mil

batting: 5802 PAs 220 SBs .249/.314/.387 136 HRs $31,981,587

pitching: 1276 IP 4.15 ERA 8.36 K/9 3.63 BB/9 .92 HR/9 1.35 WHIP $27,187,582

this looks like where I'll end up.

Stupid Narveson, Britton, Moseley, Gamel, etc.

I think I'm gonna start working on next year now. :boxing: I'm not gonna suck again.

still looking to trade a few things:

John Buck - just need a body at backup C, so I'd be willing to trade Buck for ~100 PAs in return + whatever else.

Castro/Lowrie - I don't need both. If I trade Castro I need a half time SS to pair with Lowrie, if I trade Lowrie I don't need anything in return but the other position. Preferably 3B because, as of right now, Lowrie is my 3B half the time.

OFs - I could part with a guy or two for upgrades elsewhere or a more day-to-day kind of OF. They all have speed (although WIS screwed me some on Defense because they were defensive specialists a lot.)

I'm looking for:

1B

3B

more IP (one of my guys/someone above for a similar guy you have with more IP)\

Let me know if you have any interest in something like that.

 wow does my team suck...
I wouldn't compare your team to jfranco's necessarily -- his is probably a 110-win squad in this thing. No other team's gonna approach that offense.
agree. this could very well go down as the greatest team that anyone ever puts together in these things.

Still looking to upgrade at SP and OF, have tons of PA's and AB's to work with. Kottaras available if someone needs a decent backup catcher. Can send Ichiro or Young back in a deal for a better OF. Will send Leake/Hughes/Zito back in a deal for a better SP. Could also use a decent backup 1B.

LB44, i sent you an offer that was almost exactly what you've outlined here. If you prefer, i could take out the 1B and put in a 3B (Chipper or Pedro Alvarez).

Still willing to deal Wilin Rosario and one of Furcal or Pennington (A/A+ defense). Looking for SP or a high OBP leadoff hitter.

This is with 24 guys (deciding between one guy for the 25th spot).

Offense: 5964 5340 205 735 138-42 1051-494 26.0 .267 .332 .446 B/B- $45,609,474

Right before the trading frenzy, jf's squad had not a one player stuck in the minors (IIRC). Don't think he had anyone injured at the time, either.I've been meaning to post here and ask if he absolutely knew that ALL of his players 26-40 were going to be major-league producers going into the season, or if he feels like he got lucky on a few. Also wanted to ask if he drafted anyone who started the season in real-life AAA.

Anyway, he was able to parlay ridiculous depth into significant inprovements to an already good starting lineup. Before the trades, Jfranco was sending guys to AAA that would start or platoon for half the league.

125 win season now
Well ... with that much quality concentrated into one squad, the other 23 of us should have something of a free-for-all. Might be easier than ever for a bad team to get into the playoffs now.And then, anything can (and usually does) happen in the playoffs. Yep, that's hope we can all cling to :wall:

My team won like 112 games last year and got bounced in the first round.

i know, that was a tough break. but it only highlights how good your 2012 is. MUCH better than your 2011 squad, imo.ETA: this is not a complaint. i am very impressed with your skills.

Oso, I still owe you an answer. Work got in the way last night. If you find a deal with those players before I answer, go ahead and take it.

I'll let jfranco comment on his own strategy, but he did get lucky. His first 5 picks weren't that special, but he's covering his weaknesses now with the deals he's making. That Larry rape just guaranteed a playoff spot since I thought his SP could have been shaky and more than likely the title since he now has 2 of the 7 best SPs.

Frazier and Pacheco played a lot more than I expected them to play. I figured they would be bench guys. Chris Carter was a total flier who panned out, I believe he was buried at AAA. Ryan Cook was another guy who was a total flier. On the pitching side, I just kept picking guys who looked like they had a shot at a rotation spot in pitchers' parks (SEA, SD, MIN, MIA). I actually expected more from Iwakuma, but he didn't start in the rotation. Noesi was a bust, Bass was good but got hurt, the Twins didn't keep Duensing in the rotation, but all 3 were good enough to flip.

The big win was Lance Lynn... I drafted him to be a killer setup guy and he ended up as a good #3 starter. Oh, and Austin Jackson, who played like an MVP candidate in the first half. I just wanted a guy with some triples to play CF. Yadi Molina and David Murphy also played a little better than expected.

I also got lucky that I didn't have any guys who were total busts. Strasburg did get shut down at 160 IP. Kemp only gave me 450 PAs, and so did Panda. But all 3 guys were very good when they did play. Same for Mike Morse. Alexei Ramirez didn't hit particularly well, but he played all year.

[Actually, scratch that... Carlos Pena was pretty much a bust]

Blanton and Westbrook stayed in their rotations most of the year. My bullpen guys from pitchers parks did well (Wilhelmsen, Perkins, Cook, Webb). Ryan Hanigan played way more than expected due to the failure of Devin Mesoraco.

So if I'm so good at this, why am I so terrible at fantasy baseball?

No joy. The 212 hitter pool w/ the "random" setting is the biggest I can get.

Try "Manual, No Rules" for the AAA selection... I think that might be it.

Still looking to move Pierzynski or McCann for SP or a decent OF. Could package him with Butler for a big upgrade somewhere too. PM's are open.
