I like it eephus...BTW OMGOGMGOGM I actually got someone I was thinking about last time through. First time that's happened. I know he sucks, so he must really suck.

From TRElist26 . 24 ( 624 ) TRE...... Tanner Schleppers P
Son-of-a-#####!!!Well here was my write-up:"The Rangers' bullpen is one piece of duct tape from going all to hell. Scheppers will be the first guy called upon to make it right."

27.12 - Chris Dickerson, OF, MLW

Just realized my OF was entirely RHed except for the switch-hitting Flyin' Hawaiian. Hopefully Dickerson can be a lefty bat to use against tough righties without absolutely killing me on D.

So I have the NFBC Main Event on Saturday. Any interest in critiquing my positional rankings as a group while we pass the time in here?

27.10 Edgar Renteria
I hope they're bluffing about him not playing any 3rd. There are plenty of ABs to be had backing up Rolen these days and there is only so much Miguel Cairo I can take. The problem is if Francisco or Valaika actually make the team then Renteria is even more useless.

sure. be sure to post league rules overview, for those of us unfamiliar with NFBC

I'll trade him to you.
I'll let you get drunk first, maybe I can get him for my 29th and 34th round pick.:shadesofLarrytrading:

Here are the basics:National Fantasy Baseball Championship (NFBC) is a high stakes fantasy baseball contest that includes competing for league and overall prizes. This season, there are 390 teams that will be competing in 26 15-team leagues.Rosters: 30 players. 23 starters: 2 C, 1B, 3B, CI, 2B, SS, MI, 5 OF, UT, 9 P. 7 bench players of any combination.Scoring: Standard 5x5. With competition in both league and overall, a well-balanced team is very important for success in both. With 15 teams selecting 30 players, the draft pool will go 450 deep. In season acquisitions are made by free-agent bidding once a week.

FYI for Sammy/Sparty

Manager Eric Wedge announced Tuesday that Ryan will be the Mariners' Opening Day shortstop, moving Jack Wilson to second base, the Seattle Times reports.
I was wondering if this was going to happen. Brendan Ryan is a vacuum cleaner out there. A shame he hits like a pitcher.
The move makes sense, imo. Ryan is a stud defensively, although Wilson is solid as well. Neither hit a lick.

Pretty much there, gb. GB Don Julio Anejo.

I guess catcher is as good a place to start as any. You have to start 2, which means 30 will be in play at all times. My list is currently 30 deep, as I don't anticipate anyone drafting a reserve catcher in this format, but I may extend it to 35 just for kicks. Obviously J. Montero could have much higher value, but playing time is very unsure there. I have VMart and Napoli higher because of potential DH at-bats. I guess I should be considering a bump for Posada based on that as well. Doumit may be a bit high, but I see him as a significantly better hitter than most catchers if he finds some PA's.

Catcher

C1 Joe Mauer (MIN)

C2 Victor Martinez (DET)

C3 Buster Posey (SF)

C4 Brian McCann (ATL)

C5 Carlos Santana (CLE)

C6 Mike Napoli (TEX)

C7 Geovany Soto (CHC)

C8 Matt Wieters (BAL)

C9 Kurt Suzuki (OAK)

C10 Miguel Montero (ARZ)

C11 Jorge Posada (NYY)

C15 Carlos Ruiz (PHI)

C16 Miguel Olivo (SEA)

C17 John Buck (FLA)

C18 JP Arencibia (TOR)

C19 Yadier Molina (STL)

C20 Josh Thole (NYM)

C21 Nick Hundley (SDP)

C22 Ryan Doumit (PIT)

C23 Yorvit Torrealba (TEX)

C24 Jarrod Saltalamacchia (BOS)

C25 John Jaso (TBR)

C26 Ryan Hanigan (CIN)

C27 Ramon Hernandez (CIN)

These are very close to mine. My slight differences are:8-11 I go: Posada, Montero, Wieters, Suzuki

I also have Yadi and Olivo flipped.

I think Saltalamacchia's upside trumps about the 10 names in front of him, but I think I'm in the minority loving him for this year.

I can't justify Posey over McCann yet (due to McCann's track record), but I do tend to error in favor of the old dudes and miss on young kids so you could be right.

Napoli is really high for a guy who's role seems up in the air. It feels to me like this would be chasing stats.

I don't think you have Doumit too high at all. If he ever gets the ABs, he can put up a good C2 season.

nevermind... stupid search function

hopefully they're available... if not, back to the drawing board...

Pretty sure I'd prefer Jaso to everyone up to Buck. I guess it depends what else you have at that point. I also don't particular like Olivo.

I can see that. Those 4 seem like they are the 3rd tier at the position, all have very similar value IMO. The reason I lean Suzuki is PA's helping his counting numbers, but I guess a good argument can be made for Posada the same way if he really retains the DH slot all season.

I can see that. Jaso has OBP skills that none of them have. My worry is what he puts up in the HR/R/RBI cats. How much time does Shoppach see?

Salty is an interesting guy. He's actually a guy I want to target as my 2nd catcher, but I don't have the stats to back it up. Just a gut feel. I think there's a good argument to be made to slide him up 5 spots or so.Yep, Napoli is certainly a wildcard. His uncertainty with AB's drops the value, but the home games in Texas sure look nice too. The guys in the 7-11 range may be safer picks.Glad someone else sees that in Doumit. Ideally, he winds up playing the in OF or something.

I think he gets 4/5 of the starts...he's a weird one though for a fantasy team though since his best stat category should be Runs without a high AVG or steals. I can certainly see sacrificing those runs for a couple more HR.

27.18 - Bogart - Barry Enright - SP

He won a spot in the D-backs rotation, for better or worse. I have been trying to stick with NL pitching and AL hitting as much as possible.
