WIS MMXI: Back to the Future Edition- Draft & Season Thread (4 Viewers)

i forget... do you have to pay for a team first, then enter the league code? And will it automatically convert over the "free team" that has my roster already loaded?

Reminder: Please limit your AAA players to 3 hitters and 3 pitchers. The exact AAA roster size wasn't an option in WIS.

I also had to set the league up as a progressive in order to make all 2011 players eligible for AAA.
I thought it was 6 regardless of the breakdown. Not that I have 6 guys anyway (I have 3).
3 & 3 has been in the OP all season
Seems like a pointless restriction. Oh well.

I've got 2 crappy SP5's (Correia and Hammel) so if anyone needs innings, I'd be happy to do a 2-for-1 and get 150 good innings.

And I'd throw this guy in free since he's not making the squad

I have no eligible pitching for my AAA. Random minor leaguers from site, correct?

I thought we were doing no made-up players.
So 3 P's with a 200k salary? There's 6 to choose from.
There was no way to specify exactly 3 AAA pitchers and hitters. The closest option was 10 hitters and 4 pitchers. The remaining slots got filled in by AAA clones. You obviously shouldn't use them in league play.
So I'm just letting the site fill my AAA pithcer slots and then I don't use them, correct?

I've looked at the rosters and still don't understand how AAA is working. I have 3 real hitters, 3 real pitchers, 3 fake hitters (including the great 3B Dakota Waldmiller) and 1 fake pitcher. Some teams only have the real AAA players.Other notable fake names:

Max None

Brenton Trombetta

Jesus Weissmann

I don't have enough AAA guys either from my drafted 2011 team. Think I'll have 3 batters and 1 pitcher. We'll see what happens.

I have some guys I'll need to throw back like maybe Dave Sappelt, Tyler Flowers, or Kyle Blanks if anyone needs AAA players.

I would like to trade 1 or 2 of them along w/ a scrub like Rhodes for a usable RP. I also have some other bodies at pitcher if your other choice is literally having a blank spot. Reynolds/Davies both available for mopup duty.

If I get time, I might look around and throw out offers.

ETA: Flowers probably the best of this pile. .719 OPS @catcher

Could also make a slightly bigger deal if someone wants Rick Ankiel. He doesn't hit enough to be a pinch hitter, but he has A/B defense and lots of innings. 10 SBs. Would still be looking for RP.

Keeping Wags as a pitching coach and Kendall as a bench coach?
Seriously -- was it known definitively in mid-March that those guys would absolutely positively contribute nothing in 2011? Most of the stuff I was reading about Wagner were acting like he was about 80% to return -- he had, after all, pitched very well in 2010. It wasn't like he was physically done. And Kendall supposedly just needed a few weeks to get his shoulder back in shape ... was expecting him back before the end of May.

I have to really low inning relivers that I will not be useing if anyone is interested. I would package them to improve pretty much at any position except C and SS.

Bought my team and joined league. Setting up players now. I can still make changes later if I make trades or something right?

Yep.And fwiw most keeper leagues targeted either Venters or Kimbral for a closer next year. So people knew in 2010. I kept Venters in zillaleague. :(

Guys, I'm starting to feel bad for Doug on this one. I say we let him add Sammy Sosa and Juan Gonzalez for the sim, just to even things out a little.

Haven't played any fantasy baseball since the mid-90s, and I only follow MLB casually through Sportscenter and such. Wasn't exposed to any info about Venters or Kimbral. The one fantasy source I purchased (Fantasy Baseball Index ... I love their footbal product so I had some trust there  ) treated Wagner as a returning player.

It just keeps giving and giving. "I don't know anything, but this crappy magazine said I'd be set."

...

But screw it -- I've had a nice healthy vent about it. I was out of my depth entering this thing ... but now maybe my squad can make something happen :football: Team is entered and ready to bust up :boxing:

Jimmy Wynn 1974 down?

My bullpen is horrible. I am going to have serious problems winning games in this league. My starting pitching should be good, but my pen is going to blow all of the games. Having Evan Meek and Hong Chih Kuo suck really set my team back. I expected those guys to be decent.

I have 341 PAs from Jed Lowrie available, as well as 394 from Lyle Overbay. Can also part with Raburn.

Would be looking for a fulltime OF'er and a bullpen guy.
