WIS MMXI: Back to the Future Edition-Rules & Signup Thread (1 Viewer)

Alright, how bout this. 30 rounds now. At the end of the season if your team doesnt have 6000 PA's and 1500 IP you are allowed to add/drop. Highest injury pick gets to pick 1st, but you can only drop for the position he played. If for some reason no injuries and you still dont meet requirements you can only pick up the the player with the most AB's for the position or IP's for the SP/RP. Stops the cherry picking. Cut down to 25 by the time we start.

We can dice roll for the add/drops or reverse order of original draft.

Not so easy. I'm really not interested in dispersal drafts.
There has to be some kind of provision for teams that won't have enough PAs or IPs to field a credible team, doesn't there? I think Hoos' latest post is on the right track. Put me down for "big draft", I guess, but 40 rounds seems to be way too much. I understand going over 25 rounds, but not going 40 rounds. Is 40 rounds proposed just for the sake of picking every conceivable player who might end up on a MLB rosters at some point in 2011?

Mostly to give people enough room to have a few fall back options at SP, CI's, MI's, OF's, bullpen arms, etc. I'm fine with it being shorter than 40, I was mostly adjusting for the people that were concerned we won't have enough IP or PA by drafting everything up front. Somewhere between 30-35 rounds should be fine.

Let's go w/ a 35 round draft starting next week. It's pretty unlikely that anybody drafted in rounds 36-40 would put up enough ABs/PAs to make a difference anyway.

One potential future issue to think about. It appears the "draft your own AAA" option is set up for a defined number of hitters and pitchers. It's very unlikely that all players drafted will reach the WIS eligibility minimums, so we'll need some way to balance the AAA rosters. I'd propose three hitter and three pitcher AAA slots so all teams would basically be discarding four pre-season draft picks. If there are some teams that don't have 31 eligible players, we'll have to fill 'em w/ $200K players. If jfranco77 or somebody with experience with AAA leagues has a better idea, please suggest away.

In other news, Doug B and I are going to team up. I think this format will work much better with 20 teams so I encourage other owners to form partnerships.

I like that idea, Eeph.

Idea: Can we throw these teams in some kind of yahoo free league with no roster moves after the draft?
I like this idea.Looks like I have no other baseball leagues this year anyhow. ;)
Yahoo maximums are 20 team leagues and 30 man rosters
I'll see if fantrax can do it...Fantrax can do it. GB them. Can do any amount of teams and they have rosters going up over 60 players, so that's not a problem.I set up a league named WIS MMXI, password is delorean

What's the thoughts on each team throwing a fiver into a pot and letting the winner take $120?ETA: For that matter, I wonder why we've never looked into something like that for all our leagues. We commit the $12.95 to WIS without thinking twice, so what if we just made it an even $20 to enter and put the extra $7 towards a pool for the winner/runner-up? Not saying that we should do this now or ever, just interesting it has never been approached.

I owuld be game for this. However, I think in order to win the pot you have to at least play 20 SimLive games.
