Thinking about using the GoogleDoc as my cheatsheet in a Yahoo league draft tonight. And laugh manically at all the talent still available at the end of the draft.
For my brick and mortar auction league I got down to two players left to draft with $7, and I wanted like 30 guys. Of those probably five were drafted, lol.
:lmao: It's a free league with an old buddy from junior high. Almost every other guy in the draft besides me is in Cleveland, so I pretty much am in good shape as long as I don't want any Indians. Played magic football with these guys in the fall and they were going 3rd and 4th on the Browns depth chart before some starters were going. Depending on my draft position, might try to come up with some decent shtick to share tomorrow. You know, other than draft nothing but Rangers.
12 team, picking 2nd. Might pop some commentary in here.Going either Trout or Braun.

I know, right. I didn't get a chance to get shticky or :homer: at the end. So much talent still available.

is it more or are there a ton of injuries this year
Seems to me this is sports in general in 2013.Seemed like in the 1980s, players didn't get hurt all that often compared to today. I'm sure that's selective memory at work, but the impression is there for me nevertheless.

I've got another draft tonight. 20 team head to head categories. Kind of wish I'd looked at the settings earlier, not much chance of me adjusting my rankings too much. Picking 14th overallCategories are R, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, OBP, SLG and W, SV, K's, HLD, ERA, K/BB, OBPAStart C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, CF, OF, OF, UT, SP, SP, SP, SP, SP, RP, RP, RP, RPAny last minute thoughts on ranking adjustments for this format. I'm going to move up Medlen and the other RP eligible starters, other than that, I guess I should figure out who the CF's are. I'm not going to draft for holds until the very end of the draft, any other thoughts?

Bump all closers down. CF up although some of that depends on eligibility requirements. It's really odd for a league to get rid of WHIP as a pitching category.

OBP against is, I suppose, pretty close to WHIP. Just never seen it as a roto cat before.

Yeah, I guess. I read it as OAV the first time for some reason. Maybe it's a Canadian thing

I think this ended up ok for a 20 teamer, Hart and Headley fell to the point I thought I had to take them, can put them on IR and pick up a couple spare starters, same with Puig, who I likely drop when he gets cut next week.

Looks like I will have 10 in the opening day starting rotation.

Bumgarner

Samardjiza

Masterson

Detwiler

Worley

Feldman

LeBlanc

Nicasio

Marquis

Axelrod

45.xx - Yuniesky Betancourt - IF - Philly
Made the 25 man. Way to go Yuni!!
I don't know what the Brewers were thinking here. They have Segura at SS and Alex Gonzalez at 1B until Hart returns. Taylor Green is in the mix somewhere as well when he comes off the DL.
Don't be a hater, old man.

Pretty good. Especially Axelrod. Depending on whether or not Anderson starts on the DL (he probably will), I have Garland, Fauxto, Porcello, Shelby, Cobb, Correia, and Vogelsong, so either 7 or 8.Stupid Mariners cutting Garland and then sending Erasmo down anyway.

We have some minor leaguers in our SP group:

Chris Sale

Matt Moore

Brandon Morrow

Carlos Villanueva

Mike Pelfrey

Jeremy Hefner

Luis Mendoza - #5!

Dan Straily - soon to be minors

Derek Lowe - bullpen

Trevor Bauer - rapping in the minors

Jordan Lyles - minors

Jeanmar Gomez - No clue

Phillip Irwin - minors

Looks like some cobbling is on the horizon.

Likely to begin in rotation (7):

Jon Lester

Trevor Cahill

Jason Hammel

Hisashi Iwakuma

Henderson Alvarez

John Lannan

Kevin Slowey

Missing in action (2):

Ricky Romero

Randy Wells

Still hoping for usable innings (2):

Daniel Hudson

Chien Ming Wang

Some times it helps being in a 2 team market.

Starters:

R.A. Dickey- Blue Jays opening starter

Gio Gonzalez- MLB still investigating  but at least he's got a Bobblehead Day!

Homer Bailey- Mariners just tarred and feathered him.

Ryan Dempster- #3 starter for Red Sawx

Julio Teheran- Flat out ####### dominant in ST, leading all of baseball in strikeouts

David Phelps- Decent spring, starting in Yankees rotation.

Franklin Morales?- :deadbanana: Bulging disc in back.

Joe Kelly- Bullpen until further notice

Bruce Chen- Heading to the bullpen because he couldn't beat out some dink named Luis Mendoza

Jennry Mejia- Out six weeks with elbow inflammation, could be reliever on return

Mark Prior- Um, he hasn't been cut from the Reds yet...probably bullpen bound if he makes team

Seth Maness- Minors

Simon Castro- Minors, could be up mid-season

Sammy Solis- Minors, cup of coffee in September at best

Bolded are my starters if season started today. With Bailey, I have six major league starters on Opening Day. Already leery about depth.
