Other guy I looked at when I took McCarver, you'll probably end up with the better player, didn't realize moops would be rolling again.Junior Ortiz C 90 88 86
Two nice OBP seasons, the third has at least a few doubles. Should only need 50-70PAs. Let's me use Tenace at top of the lineup though.
@the moops NOT a starter.
@scoobus last time I get to say... OTC gb.
Yeah, I got sniped on... McCarver, Valle, like four other backup C's. Think most of those I got lucky to have been snipped. McCarver was also, imo, a vastly underrated announcer, especially in his earlier years doing the Mets.Other guy I looked at when I took McCarver, you'll probably end up with the better player, didn't realize moops would be rolling again.
Total NL homer, the worst.Yeah, I got sniped on... McCarver, Valle, like four other backup C's. Think most of those I got lucky to have been snipped. McCarver was also, imo, a vastly underrated announcer, especially in his earlier years doing the Mets.
Yeah, I also was, uhh... not the biggest fan to put it nicely. Between him and Joe Morgan I've easily got the worst broadcasters of any team in this thing.Total NL homer, the worst.
Players can get injured during the current game, but it's exceptionally rare unless they're fatigued. They never have multi-game injuries.Someone remind me what happens with injuries in this thing. I have backups at all but one position and my guy at that position has 720 PA's and will hit low in the order, do I need to take a backup there next round just to be sure?
If I went pitcher that was going to be the guy. Two nice options at this point and a third that's not a total loss IIRC due to good HRs.24.16 Pat Perry 87|86|89

Occasionally guys do get pinch hit/pinch run for, but you can turn that off.
You can designate anyone to be his backup. If he's a shortstop, you can use a 2B or 3B as his backup without getting totally killed for just an inning or two. If he's a 2B/3B you can use a SS. If he's an OF/1B you can use any OF/1B/SS/2B/3B. So the only backup you absolutely need is a C.
Yeah... I got flexibility by getting a top defense backup at 2B who can cover if needed to cover 30 or so PAs at SS, and/or allow SS to be pinch hit and not have a butcher there. But of course, then I can only PH for either 2B or SS, my two weakest offensive positions, unless I also draft a SS (or another 2B).![]()
Thanks. I thought about the pinch hitting scenario (it's SS and Tony Fernandez). It's a pretty specific scenario to draft for, though I may anyway because I don't know what else to take at this point.
David Cone’s the best color guy in baseball. Singleton and O’Neill are good too. Showalter was money in the studio last year. Kay is meh. I hate his ‘unmanageable’ nonsense quoting the game time at the end of games. Ryan Ruocco is better than Kay.Right now I'd be happy to watch a live game with the Yankees local broadcasters
Granted, I'm a Mets fan, but Yanks games are all but unlistenable. Can't stand Waldman (omggggg awful.. she still doing it?) And Sterling's shtick got tired about 6 games into his prolonged tenure.Right now I'd be happy to watch a live game with the Yankees local broadcasters
I don't watch a lot of AL games to be honest. I mostly watch West coast games due to timezones. The NL West crew I don't like is Colorado's.David Cone’s the best color guy in baseball. Ruocco/Cone booth in running for best in baseball.
I've got like 1600 with 12, but only 11 of those and 1,500 will ever see the light of day.Going to end with with 2200 inning but only 11 arms. That's cool, right?
I've got 2000 and 11 arms. And somehow still only a couple good starters.Going to end with with 2200 inning but only 11 arms. That's cool, right?
Notice I said "innings", not "quality innings" or "good Innings".I've got 2000 and 11 arms. And somehow still only a couple good starters.
There's always that Wednesday day game after an extra innings late one the night before that you just fall on the sword and let the sucky guy go a full 7.I've got like 1600 with 12, but only 11 of those and 1,500 will ever see the light of day.
I've been using this chart for years, someone posted it a long time ago:Ballpark minimum number of PAs we should have as a team for no fatigue?

I'm still drafting one anywayYou guys were kidding about a DH in this right?![]()

The site recommends 6000, but I don't think batter fatigue has every really been a problem with these open salary drafts. I've maybe had a catcher or two that get tired.Ballpark minimum number of PAs we should have as a team for no fatigue?
Tattooed on my left forearmYou carry that thing in your wallet or something?
you may have wanted to axe this question several round ago.....Ballpark minimum number of PAs we should have as a team for no fatigue?
6,000 is the very conservative number. It's more you need about 650PAs average at each position, which means some can be closer to 620 with the 10% cushion the sim gives... but if you don't have a backup catcher and need 6 games worth, those could be 6 sketchy games with a non catcher playing that position.Ballpark minimum number of PAs we should have as a team for no fatigue?
Nahhhhhhhhhyou may have wanted to axe this question several round ago.....
I'm thinking that probably has more to do with the fact that all the RP suck in this era.Nahhhhhhhhh
Just everyone talking about only 10 or 11 man pitching staffs made me double check. Guess defensive subs and pinch hitting is bigger in this thing than BTTF.
Could be true too, that's why I have to keep drafting them though, keep getting trash seasons.I'm thinking that probably has more to do with the fact that all the RP suck in this era.
Didn't he get picked? EDIT... I took one of them, but this could be the other one.
Is that with or without the WIS free 10% promotion?I've been using this chart for years, someone posted it a long time ago:

Reggie Jackson is offended.EDIT - but don't use a guy who is D-/D- ... that's worse than being unrated.
