Only you can (prevent forest fires and change your lineup).Someone tell me how to easily swap a player. Can't commish just do this for me
The league schedule will be generated within the next 24 hours.
I won a Back to the Future WISHas everyone won a WIS in this division?
No biggie. If you want to be in a division with your son, I can swap with him.
If we had WIS bracelets like the World Series of Poker ... our division would basically be Zales. Seven or eight titles among the four squads (can’t remember if jfranco has one or two).Has everyone won a WIS in this division?
Plus like a gazillion non FBG titles. If we had WIS bracelets like the World Series of Poker ... our division would basically be Zales. Seven or eight titles among the four squads (can’t remember if jfranco has one or two).
Yup. Just need to set my time machine to 2008 and ready to go.Anyone planning on doing some live sim this season?
Apparently I have two listed in my notesIf we had WIS bracelets like the World Series of Poker ... our division would basically be Zales. Seven or eight titles among the four squads (can’t remember if jfranco has one or two).
Let's see ...@Doug B I think that makes what, 9 rings between the four including BTTF? Prolly 15 WS appearances?
I have already tried 3 different old computers. If I get one connected I’ll let you know.Anyone planning on doing some live sim this season?
Not to upset @the moops, but I got four good buddy.Let's see ...

That was my original count of eight. No idea about the number of WIS appearances (lost my old 2014 spreadsheet of that info when I switched jobs last :( ). Some of those details might be posted in a thread on this forum, though -- that info will be somewhat out of date, missing the last four (maybe five?) BTTF seasons.
OK, found the old post in which I posted FBG WIS WS results. The post was from 1/31/2013, so I'm missing results from five FBG BTTF leagues - 2013-2017:Not to upset @the moops, but I got four good buddy.Let's see ...

I'm trying to remember when we stopped doing the regular leagues. Probably around 2016 or so?OK, found the old post in which I posted FBG WIS WS results. The post was from 1/31/2013, so I'm missing results from five FBG BTTF leagues - 2013-2017:
WIS I - pumpnick over mrharrier 4-2
WIS II - Spartans Rule over Koya 4-2
WIS III - dirtyhalos over Mr. Pickles 4-2
WIS IV - RnR over Doug B 4-3
WIS V - Koya over eephus 4-3
WIS VI - Kraft over Doctor Detroit 4-3
WIS VII - Kraft over eephus 4-3
WIS VIII - Doug B over eephus 4-1
WIS IX - Koya over Notorious T.R.E. 4-3
WIS X - eephus over SoCalBroncoFan 4-0
WIS XI - jfranco over Spartans Rule 4-2
WIS XII - Brady Marino over pumpnick 4-1
WIS XIII - Hoos First over oso diablo 4-2
WIS XIV - Doug B over Doug B 4-1
WIS BTTF 2011 - Arsenal of Doom over Notorious T.R.E. 4-2
WIS XV - Doctor Detroit over jfranco 4-0
WIS BTTF 2012 - scoobus over jfranco 4-3
If memory serves, we drafted for the 2018 BTTF league, played the season out on FanTrax, but never played it out on WIS. Didn't WIS drag their feet for like 4 or 5 months before putting the 2018 player-seasons in their database or something?
That list goes through 2012 I think. We had a good 6 or so additional seasons afterward. Thought somewhere was a full list of WS participants, not sure where.Pretty sure I won one of these things. Where the hell is my name on that list?
I can likely reconstruct (and complete) the list of WS participants based on old e-mails -- I throw little away. Hmmm ... the next few pages in that link are nice walks down memory lane. Starting at page 55 of the "*** OFFICIAL WIS XVI Draft Thread ***" on this forum. Talking about drafting old WIS leegs on baseballtangent & rotodugout, the drafters that came over to FBG from baseballtangent (Eephus, right?), and so on.OK, found the old post in which I posted FBG WIS WS results.
I’m still pissed about that one. I was first in the Fantrax standings and had an amazing team led by a crazy Harden season. Was probably going to finally win a title - I had a bunch of 50-60 win teams, plus one runner-up, but never won.And yeah, the NBA league we played out on fantrax and they never loaded the players until the next season had started or something. I really liked that team too (KAT was a cookie monster in WIS).
My team in that NBA league might have battled you pretty hard. It was significantly better than my championship team from the year before - which I'm still amazed happened considering my lack of knowledge of the NBA as compared to NFL and MLB. I remember early on thinking along the lines of 'what players might do well in the sim' and settled on a go all in for KAT strategy. It worked.I’m still pissed about that one. My best team was ruined by my 4th round pick of Tiago Splitter over DeAndre Jordan. Yo Mama said he was deciding between those two as well and took Jordan right after me. He proceeded to crush me in the finals.

Loved everything about this post from @Doug B, also really want to go back to WIS I and see what team I drafted that won 109 games but lost in the first round, getting swept.Mrharrier's records in progressive sims:
WIS I - 117-55, division champ, World Series runner-up
WIS II - 94-68, division champ, lost in first round
WIS III - 64-98, fourth place
WIS IV - 81-81, second place
WIS V - 78-84, fourth place
He skipped VI and VII, then came back for VIII.
WIS VIII - 74-88, third place
...
What's significant about this is that early on, mrharrier was our resident WIS expert. He was ahead of the curve on a lot of the sim-specific statistical analysis, and wasn't shy about letting us know it. I think the sim engine changed at some point, though, and he didn't adapt. Harr totally ignored defense (which seemingly used to work at one time), and sold out almost every other offensive stat for the sake of huge BB/100 rates. I remember the sim being much more forgiving of fatigue, and mrharrier relying on that to use Mark Eichhorn as a starting pitcher in III or IV.

The real kicker was that Harrrr never, not once, won a WIS season where we all picked knowing the point was to win the sim. That first one (IIRC) was the all time baseball draft where I believe we sorta judged teams but decided about 2/3 way through that we would use WIS to actually sim the results of our teams.Bogart said:Loved everything about this post from @Doug B, also really want to go back to WIS I and see what team I drafted that won 109 games but lost in the first round, getting swept.
This weighed heavily into my decision to add him to the squad. Next to managerial selection, locker room music (and the chemistry that comes with it) was a big factor in my drafting strategy. The Man With No Name said:https://www.12up.com/posts/former-mlb-all-star-ruben-sierra-salsa-music-career-we-are-stunned-01e7ebtarbad
No wonder he never became the superstar some thought he wold be
We should definitely all subtly email his university address. Someone come up with a game plan.Eephus said:

this has nothing to do with WIS, but the next person, either on tv or in person that i see make a heart symbol with their hands is gonna get a beating.
Yeah, I saw that. Was a game until the super late innings, but a 10-0 skunk is a 10-0 skunk. The boy laid a beating on you in game 1.![]()
