Were you fogging up the binoculars or you just couldn't focus them when you were holding them with only one hand?

She will likely ask what she can bring.  Be prepared to tell her that you'll have juice/pop (or whatever) for the kids and you'll have some beer/wine, but if she would prefer something else to drink to bring that.

Instead of (or in addition to) beer/wine, might I suggest mixing up a batch of whiskey sours or LI iced teas?  Very refreshing on a warm (and presumably humid) night.

Leave out the soda, don't want to have her think you're a heathen that gives soda to your kids (though I may have just been in Los Angeles too long).

 
Man I hope the neighbor isn't in her moon during your cook out.  Unless it has been a long time OP stay away from the redwings.

I don't let my kids have them often, but I don't freak out if they have one every once in a while. I happen to have a few different kinds on hand that were leftovers from a party, though, so they'll be an option if anyone wants one. 

 
You think this is going to go well until she just drops the kids off and thanks you and then goes and bangs the neighbor across the street.

 
So gentlemen, now that it seems like we have the drinks and food nailed down for the BBQ, we need to talk about what clothes Cinderella needs to wear to her ball.

Gotta wear a white shirt for sure - no pitting out on a first date.

It's summer in bayou country. And standing in front of a cooking device, there will be sweat. And by sweat, I of course mean glorious man scent. 

 
does she have most of her front teeth?   most of her fingers and toes?   make sure the kids have tetnus and rabies shots before you invite them to mingle.

 
one thing that always gets them is talking about the labor and delivery of the young'ns.   Like you want to remind them of teh pain and the stretching and all that pain and stretching

make sure you hold a gigantic zuchinni and wave it back and forth for emphasis as you talk about that.
