Oh, I'm just complaining.  You're probably right.  The word that I didn't care for was the top-right.  I've never used it.  I thought it needed a dash or something. But I don't profess to have a massive vocabulary either.

Also, I'm dumb.

STARE to start let's you know it has S and T. First thought from there was to pick a word that ends with ST. The horrible MOIST comes to mind and a slam dunk from there.

I find octordle is easier than quordle or wordle. With quordle being the most difficult. With octordle I can start with these words:

crwth

plumb

skivy

faxed

gonzo

which only leaves out Q and J. Answer the for sure words and the unusual ones always fall into place. Quordle, using those words, will occasionally leave you needing to guess between something like wordy or rowdy. For wordle I just start with aunts and oiler to use r,s,t,l,n and all common vowels as my first two words and try to get the word in 4 or less guesses.

 
I spaced out and forgot to include the 'i' in my second guess, but it ended well enough. I know I don't have to, but I like to because, well, because I suppose it creates a thrill of the hunt. Today's word was not much a hunt though. It was more like opening the fridge and making a sandwich.

Both my wife and my son got today's while I struggled.  Turns out I had an "alternate" (and odd) word.  Anyone else?

Here is the word (no masking, word is revealed).  Didn't think I needed a spoiler tag and no one else has mention getting the alternate.

There's a solution upthread for this.  Happened to me one day a month or so ago.

I also had that baby.  Thanks for pointing that out as some of the solutions that people posted for today had my head scratching.
