Off the top of my head I would think the Jets but does anyone have numbers or stats to show.

Maybe I should ask Jeff H. aka Wheelhouse.

Any info would be appreciated. TIA

That would depend on the scoring system and is probably better answered in the Assistant coaches forum. If you go to NFL.com you can sorts stats by just anything your defense gets points for.

A quick rundown of sacks allowed, fumbles lost, and interceptions thrown, has the Lions, Bears, and Rams all up there:

Detroit - 35 sacks allowed, 8 INTs, 7 lost fumbles

St Louis - 25 sacks allowed, 16 INTs, 8 lost fumbles

Bears - 21 sacks allowed, 16 INTs, 7 lost fumbles

St Louis is also 4th worst in points scored. Like someone else stated, depends on what your scoring system is -- D/ST seems to be the most varied from league to league of all the positions.

Thanks this was very helpful. I was just wondering if there was a bit of trend of teams giving up lots a defensive points. Kinda like you start your rbs against Denver or your qb's and wr's against STL. Those type of trends tend to help out with bye week fill ins and things of that nature.

Rtsports keeps reports on Fantasy Defenses, which can be broken down by position. In our league, these are the top 5 teams to play your fantasy defense against:

1. St Louis

2. San Fran

3. Atlanta

4. KC

5. Chicago

The Jets are 10th on the list. We award the the differnce in points scored for anything under 20 points allowed........for example, if your D only gives up 3 points, you get 17 points. Plus the usual sacks(1pt) and turnovers(2pt) and TDs(6pts).

Wow, at the risk of sounding like a guppy (swim swim), I'm on RTsports and never noticed that section. My scoring is of course different but the results are quite similar:1. St. Louis2. Detroit3. Chicago4. San Fran5. KCJust curious, is Detroit #6 on your list? This is a very valuable tool and one I may use going forward. I have Chicago's D but they are definitely not a must start. I wouldn't drop them as they could become good down the stretch once injuries heal and cold weather comes, but playing the matchups is what it seems to be all about.

I'm right there with you on not knowing about this. I'm gonna have to check it out myself.

Yes6. Detroit7. Oakland8. Minn9. Denver10. NYJAnd, yes, it is a very valuable tool.

It is a valuable tool, but the order of teams really changes according to your scoring. In my league the best teams to play your defenses against are:

Detroit

SF

Atlanta

St. Louis

Chicago

Philly

We count heavy for sacks, and don't count points allowed. The Jets are still in the mix, of course, at #9.

That's what makes it so valuable........the fact that it's customized to your league's specific scoring. Very similar to the customized cheatsheets here.I use it for every position, especially when you have to make those tough "coin-flip" decisions between two players.

Does MFL have anything like this?

As a HARDCORE Bills fan I have to sadly admit that Buffalo is in the top 10 offenses you want your D/ST playing against. If not top 5.

Yes, it's under:Reports > League > Points Allowed - By Position

This will sound strange, but teams that play Detroit have a solid shot at scoring a def TD.

I usually don't like to pick up WW Def when they are playing on the road, but I think Bailey and Bly want to prove Monday night was a fluke and one of them is going to take it to the house.

Shoot, if Dumervil didn't hit Favre's hand on one play, Bailey would have scored easily.

 That report is excellent! Thanks.

Off the top of my head I would think the Jets but does anyone have numbers or stats to show.

Maybe I should ask Jeff H. aka Wheelhouse.

Any info would be appreciated. TIA
This year I've been tracking the number of points DEF's are scoring against each offense year for one of my leagues. We get points depending on standard items (sacks, fumbles, INT's, etc.) and points depending on the number of points and yards given up.Looking at the data, I've noticed a couple of teams are always at the top (SF, STL, DET, CHI) and if you are going up against NE you are only going to get 2 or 3 points.

But what I've also noticed is that the results tend to trend. SEA has done much better. WAS has gotten much worse the last 3 weeks. With key injuries, AZ and HOU have also been good for FF DEF's.

Over the last three weeks the following teams have had DEF's score the most on them (with this weeks opponent):

STL-(BYE)

SF -(ATL)

WAS-(NYJ)

OAK-(HOU)

HOU-(OAK)

AZ-(TB - Not likely available)

NYJ-(WAS)

MIN-(SD - Not likely available)

The Hou/OAK game is intriguing - bot have adequate DEF's going up against struggling Offenses.

There is a similar thread regarding DEF by Committee that goes into similar detail.

ETA Link.

Great Info.

No mention of Miami?
At least in our scoring system, Miami hasn't been that bad...I think it's because they aren't turning the ball over a lot. They are generally good for about 10 points for the team that's playing them. The DEF scores against have been: 10, 12, 10, 11, 7, 6, 12 and 9 by a very good NYG DEF last week...
