Worst spot to draft in a 12 team league? (1 Viewer)

I think most would agree the 1st pick is the best because you get your pick of who the top player will be.

But I think a more interesting question is what pick do you think is the most difficult? I haven't got my draft order yet but I've been doing mocks at random spots and I feel 7 is the hardest spot to draft from. Most of the time CJ, Peterson, MJD, Rice, Gore and andre johnson are gone and I think the other RB's have their issues and there's a big difference between AJ and the rest of the remaining WRs. The 2-8 rated WRs are all very similar.

What say you?

I say if I'm drafting 7th, and those 6 go off the board ahead of me, I draft Michael Turner in about a half a millisecond.

Personally, I never enjoy drafting on the end because you have back to back picks and then a long wait until the next pick.In most drafts I'd say picking last is the worst place to be because you are into the 2nd tier of RB and could potentially also be in the 2nd tier of WR (especially if in a 12 or 14 team draft) This can leave challenges that would not be there if you draft first. However, that being said, in a 12 team draft, the spots I'd hate the most (in order) would be #12, #11, and #1. (in this years draft, the sweet spot appears to be at #3, #4 or #5.

I'm in a PPR league so it makes it a harder choice. Standard scoring I agree that Turner is a good pick at 7.

Hating the 1st spot is strange to me. you get 3 top 25 players. the thing about drafting at the ends is if people screw up along the way you are the person who benefits from the value. I'm a fan of drafting at the ends.

2 or the 3 leagues I play in are double serpentine. i love drafting from the 12 hole.

This year I think the worst slot would be 8 in a ppr league.

I'm also up at #7 in PPR and don't see a solid choice if Gore and AJ go 5 and 6. Leaning towards Moss, but not thrilled there

1-4 is the most difficult. Because there aren't many elite wrs to select from at the back end of round 2. Unless you are comfortable with Desean Jackson, Anquan Boldin, Colston(sometimes), Steve Smiths, Ocho Cinco or Sidney Rice as your number 1 wr. If you decide to go rb with your 2nd rounder and maybe your 3rd rounder. 4th and 5th round wrs are exponentially worse wr1.

I firmly believe in the stud wr theory for standard leagues.

I really don't believe there is a bad spot for a draft but if I had to pick I would go with 9 because I have 7 players I like more then others and one person is bound to make a pick I wouldn't. I think pick 3 or 4 is the best I dont't think there is a huge dropoff if any this year between the top 4.

I think that the worst spot is whatever spot you draw, and all of the other spots are always better. At least it always feels that way.

I think that in a regular serpentine draft, you want the earliest pick you can get, because of the way it works. There is a distinct advantage in a serpentine draft toward the earlier draft spots. Maybe your first pick seems more difficult, but think of it this way. If someone offered you a trade that you would get to draft first in the 1st, 3rd, and 5th rounds, and they would draft first in the 2nd, 4th, and 6th rounds, you would be a fool not to take it. Well, that is exactly what a serpentine draft does.

Obviously, I'm a big fan of the "double snake" draft or the 3rd Round Reversal. I think that they even it out much more.

I was hating my 7th spot in a ppr until seeing Turner and the fact they have thrown him 3 passes in the short time he's been in. I think the 8 spot is worse

I play in one 12 team ppr with the 3rd rd reversal. and we get to pick what position to draft from. We see the 11th and 12th picks being sought after first. Maybe an advantage for the tail end. Get 2 Wr studs and then grab your RB there with the 25th or 26th pick.

CJ, AP, Rice, MJD, Turner, Gore, AJ ... IMO picking 8th would stink as you are forced to take injury risk SJax on a bad team or reach anywhere else. Later in the 1st atleast you get a higher 2nd.

1-6 have pretty easy picks. 7 is where it gets difficult...but in a serpentine draft you really need to get beyond the first 3-4 rounds to see where positions really gets you hosed. I truly believe that 8-9 are the worst picks overall. However, every year there are idiots who make bad decisions so you can really make the most out of any draft position. Just have a plan.
