If we are including Ryan Leaf, we can also include Akili Smith, no?

I edit to challenge the notion of Kellen Clemens being the worst, if only because Jaws loves him....and I am a Jets fan. :blackdot:

Oh, and as for my choice for worst starting QB during that span... Kyle Orton, but only because Ryan Fitzpatrick failed to meet the 5 start minimum.

Hey, I liked Fitzpatrick! He was lighting it up under that system. Also, so many people love stats. Stats, stats, stats. As a professional market analyst I use stats. But I trust what I see. Grossman had been the starting QB for the NFC champion the year before. Defenses planned since the schedules came out to play against him. Under what I consider tremendous pressure he was erratic, but not untalented or without a clue. I continue to ask people to show me a QB that lit it up careerwise right out of the gate (Besides Manning, Montana or Marino - also known as the exceptions).....Favre threw bunches of Ints. QBs like Gannon, Brad Johnson, McNair, Harbaugh, Testeverde, Danny White, Phil Simms, Flutie, they were all terrible early in their careers...... sheesh, I seriously could just go on and on - I could give you a list a mile long of QBs that stuck around and suddenly became "great" or even "greater". Grossman has talent. Maybe not the best sense sometimes, but alot of talent. He'll end up just fine whether its with the Bears or some other team. (By the way, Bledsoe is the only other I can think of offhand)

Mike McMahon deserves consideration. For those that don't remember him, he spent most of his career being a backup to Joey Harrington so how good could he be. He did start several games in 2005 for an injuried McNabb.

From Wikipedia:

With Donovan McNabb out in 2005 after season-ending hernia surgery, McMahon took over the reins of the Eagles for the remainder of the season. On December 24, 2005 he became the first Eagles quarterback to rush for two touchdowns in a single game since Randall Cunningham in 1992. After taking over for McNabb, McMahon compiled a record of two wins and five losses in the games he started. His quarterback rating was a sub-par 55.2 for the season. In his defense, however, the team he was leading was missing many first-string players, including center Hank Fraley, leading receivers Terrell Owens and Todd Pinkston, and starting running back Brian Westbrook. By the end of the season, the only first-string receiver still playing was tight end L.J. Smith, which severely limited McMahon's options.
