I am in a keeper league. You are allowed to keep three players for up to 3 years. After that, they go back in the pool.
Owner 1 traded Brandon Jacobs to owner 2 for Michael Turner straight up. Owner 1 is making a playoff run. Owner 2 is out of it this year.
Initially, I thought, this isn't a fair trade. But the details are, Jacob is a free agent next year in our league, and Turner is a free agent for real, and may end up starting elsewhere. But that is not my issue here.
Owner 2 has given up this year. He has been playing players on bye for the last four weeks, and he has not been doing pickups. He was also 3-3 when he stopped caring, and still in the playoff hunt.
Owner 2 will probably be out of the league next year, although whoever takes over his team will have rights to Turner.
Our league does not have a rule specifically against tanking, as it has never happened in 14 years. Perhaps if we had a rule that said any owners not putting in a lineup for two weeks loses trading privileges, and we will have something like that in the future.
Our rules also state that the commissioner has final say in all trades, and he has made mid-season rulings in the past that were not in the rules.
So, should this trade be allowed?
