All things constant, do you date the funny lady? Not the one with the sense of humor, but the one who is outwardly and vociferously funny?
Always a plus but why have a wife that requires approval?I guess as long as my wife were okay with it.
Sarah Silverman about the only one I can think ofFunny women are very rare, if you can find one that is attractive you have got yourself an unicorn.
Iliza Shslessinger is attractive. I don't know about funny.Sarah Silverman about the only one I can think of
This is what I'm getting at. Not only do comedians have a special knack for observation, they might be neurotic enough to make our foibles incredibly sad, pathetic, and funny at the same time. No way I want that constant reminder in my life.No way. I don't want someone who's good at making fun of me when I inevitably screw up.
It's a trade off. Then I get to approve the women she dates, too.Always a plus but why have a wife that requires approval?
I always thought Kathleen Madigan was pretty attractive.Iliza Shslessinger is attractive. I don't know about funny.
In certain days, Chelsea Handler isnt bad
I kind of dig Jen Kirkman, but she may fall into women you oddly find attractive thread. Not sure
Whitney Cummings is better than average.
Maybe Natasha Leggero
Nicole Arbour
i have ZERO interest in some broad who is gonna be running schtick, trying bits, using props, etcsame for chix into sports - G'BYE!!1!

i've always gravitated to the moody, mercurial ... passionate artistic bent, with a free and independent spirit - e.g. Rava from 'Seinfeld' (she's from Finland, for god's sake ... FINLAND!)
yeah, no desire to be bored stiff with a Henrietta Youngman.
ymmv, but irdgaf
I agree with all of this. I'm just not sure it's so easy to pick the one that isn't constantly putting your butt out in the ashtray.I don't know why someone wouldn't want to date someone who is funny. My wife and I definitely have a different sense of humor, but we still make each other laugh. Is it at each other's expense? Sometimes, but certainly not always. If you can't be the butt of a joke every now and then you need to stop taking yourself so seriously.

Well, I have a pretty biting sense of humor myself, so I can give as good as I get. I knew my wife for about 10 years before we got together. Giving each other a hard time was pretty much the way we flirted. I never once thought "ouch, that hurts." What I will say though is that she wasn't making those jokes in front of an audience. Maybe that changes it? I don't know.I agree with all of this. I'm just not sure it's so easy to pick the one that isn't constantly putting your butt out in the ashtray.
All things constant and with her having a good sense of humor, do you pick the Funny Lady...
It definitely helps if you're on the same page with humor. Jimmy Kimmel and Sarah Silverman and Anthony Jeselnik and Amy Schumer were Exhibits A of that type of thing.Well, I have a pretty biting sense of humor myself, so I can give as good as I get. Thinking of Ali Wong's poor husband - Baby Cobra act from a few years ago. Although he is pretty lucky imo for the most part. When she starts to incorporate the #### you do into her routines, those "yes" guys might start to think twice.....
My wife and I were watching a Sarah Silverman stand-up movie many years ago and I commented, she should call her act, "Check out my Boobs, They're Pretty Nice, Aren't They?"Sarah Silverman about the only one I can think of
I think there is a pretty wide range of personality types I would go for. I don't think I have a "type." It's pretty tough to answer a question like "all things being equal, which personality do you go for?" I don't think many of us have been in that situation before, because as you know, all things are never equal. But, bottom line, I don't think I could ever be with a woman long term who did not make me laugh. It definitely helps if you're on the same page with humor. Jimmy Kimmel and Sarah Silverman and Anthony Jeselnik and Amy Schumer were Exhibits A of that type of thing.
I don't mean to discount funny women. I was curious about other people's personality preferences. My preferences run more towards the really soft-spoken and kind women, but those with an ability to appreciate really good humor of all stripes.
Cool. I've dated both funny women and women with a good sense of humor. I prefer the latter, but as you said, there is certainly a false constant I'm asking people to assume.I think there is a pretty wide range of personality types I would go for. Love me some Amy Schumer. I had front row seats to her show in Charlotte right before she hit it big (right after the roast show she was on). She used my glass to make a #### joke. Loved her ever since. It definitely helps if you're on the same page with humor. Jimmy Kimmel and Sarah Silverman and Anthony Jeselnik and Amy Schumer were Exhibits A of that type of thing.

If you count being laughingly bad at acting then yes. She's a comedian?
now, that's funnyIf you count being laughingly bad at acting then yes.
It's funny that most of us took the question to mean whether we would date a stand up comedian but that's not really what you're asking. All things constant, do you date the funny lady? Not the one with the sense of humor, but the one who is outwardly and vociferously funny?
Well, I was thinking of stand-ups, but I actually think you've hit on the heart of it (not just saying that to be nice), only the stand-up makes it more manifest. Do you date the woman who can be the center of attention and funny and all that it brings? It's funny that most of us took the question to mean whether we would date a stand up comedian but that's not really what you're asking.
Your question seems more "would you date a woman who is the center of attention and funny".
Sure, though extreme extraversion can be exhausting.
I've dated the presence but it didn't last, she was a bit of a drama queen. My wife is funny but not the center of attention, and we're both non dramatic.Well, I was thinking of stand-ups, but I actually think you've hit on the heart of it (not just saying that to be nice), only the stand-up makes it more manifest. Do you date the woman who can be the center of attention and funny and all that it brings?
I was really thinking of those personality traits that make it necessary or an outlet to be on stage, either literally or metaphorically.
I've been that guy who dates the presence. Sometimes...no fun. Better a well-timed word these days for me.
Now that's interesting. My wife fits this to a T, even if it is not for being funny. She loves attention, has no fear for being up in front of a crowd microphone in hand (even if it is not for being funny). She MC's our school auction, loves teaching spinning classes having a captive audience with a microphone in hand, will get up in front of a group for any reason with no fear. That kind of self confidence is impressive to me (and unknowingly a big part of what drew me to her most likely). But, myself being at the opposite end of that personality spectrum, it can be exhausting when I'm brought into it as her partner.Well, I was thinking of stand-ups, but I actually think you've hit on the heart of it (not just saying that to be nice), only the stand-up makes it more manifest. NO idea why she hasnt just zzzzzzzzoomed. When i saw her in Stepbrothers, i said, "there we go - next comedy bombshell" and..................................Sure, if I was single. A bigger obstacle wouldn't be that she is a comedienne...it would be the traveling involved and how often I saw her.
As an aside...for an older broad, that Andrea Savage from "I'm sorry" on tru tv is a babe.
I always thought Maria Bamford was pretty good looking. Haven't seen her in while though. Probably showing showing effects of aging now.Funny women are very rare, if you can find one that is attractive you have got yourself an unicorn.
