Agreed that majority of women are overweight (key word being "majority" and not "average"). There are more women that are 1-5 range than there are 6-10 range. You put 500 randomly chosen women in a room and majority would be 3.5-5.5 range (agreeing that would have a lot to do with most of them being overweight as you stated...but that isn't the sole factor)The problem in this logic is the average woman IS overweight and the overweight curve is out one and a half standard deviations. I mean 1 st. dev places 30 yr old USA woman somewhere in the 29-34% body fat range.
I would argue a 6 is where overweight should show up. There really isn't any valid reason to say otherwise unless you just want to start your scale where overweight is centered on 4, which is fine I guess.
