WR A.J. Brown, PHI (6 Viewers)

If I were an Eagles fan, I would want rid of him.

Whine until they upset the type of attack they SHOULD have used against Denver? So they LOSE?

You either treat the cancer or cut the cancer. Seems untreatable and the production certainly doesn't justify tolerating it.

Hi. Eagles fan here.

off the top of your head, who are say, the 5 best WRs in Eagles history? Just your personal opinion.

Or even the 5 best of this century...

After this thought exercise, you will then only understand why we will tolerate all of this to keep a guy like AJ Brown

But everyone wants 6/110/1 each week or it’s time to cut him because he sucks.

Oh well yeah that is the FF community. Just reference the CMC thread via last year this time if you want a taste of the psychosis.

But NFL/Football football, yeah not to mention the fact trading him would destroy the Eagles salary cap situation, and thus have to probably cut/not extend some players

The fact that the Eagles have had literally a not great at all history of WRs on its own, as a fan of the team, just a nauseating thought really

This is a gigantic oversimplification and honestly probably just not true. AJ Brown is a leader, not a cancer. He's just vocal. That's often a good thing.

The offense was 30th coming into the game. Given the opponent, this might have been the Eagles best game offensively this season. Denver is probably the NFL's best defense. People are knocking Brown's production, but Barkley has been just as disappointing. The run game has been extremely ineffective and unproductive this year, except for Hurts rushing.

Now they probably overcorrected on the more passing, but I think even with the loss, it was a step in the right direction for the offense. Ultimately this loss was more on the defense, who wasn't getting much of a pass rush, and in turn having guys open a lot. Now I really hope (and I'd bet against it because Philly is a smart organization) the Eagles don't just go, "well we lost, so scrap it and go back to what we were doing" because what they were doing was never sustainable.

AJ Brown has finished in the top ten of FF WRs four times. He might have a fifth time if not for only playing 13 games. No matter the variability. He’s been productive historically.

Also to add here, so are you @Proteus advocating them to cut out DeVonta Smith too since he’s saying the same thing as AJB?

I have sat him the last two weeks, but I will be starting him this Thursday over some options projected higher or equal (Metcalf, Etienne, Olave, Swift). Unless I hear Lamb is a full go by then, that would complicate things.

They lost this game for the same reason the other games were close. The OL has vastly diminished performance compared to last year. Dickerson has been hurt all year and is a shell of his healthy self. The other interior linemen, Jurgens and Steen, have not particularly played well either. Which leads to little success running the ball. Lane Johnson has missed parts of two games. And Mailata hasn’t been bad but is getting beat more often than he did last year.

The OC needs to design plays to reflect the limitations of the OL but hasn’t.

Who are the other 4?
How many times did they ***** about targets when they were 4-0?
How many times did they ***** about targets when they were 4-0 then give up on routes in a game 3 days later?

Just curious

I notice you avoided the question, I know you as a Cowboys fan would love nothing more than to see AJ Brown leave Philly lol

Idk. He’s done nothing. The Cowboys should’ve beat you in week one.

Without using the internet, honestly, TO and Harold Carmichael first came to mind. Then Maclin. Then . . . wasn't Chris Carter on the squad for a cup of coffee?

I understand what you're saying if the production was there. But I'm positing that because the production isn't there, why put up with his antics at all? You think he's going to break out of this slump? I guess he could but he's no spring chicken, has major issues with his QB and coach, it seems, and he almost seems content to wallow in it. Some people, and no knock on his mental health struggles, have a tendency to fall in love with their problems. I think he fits that bill.

But everyone wants 6/110/1 each week or it’s time to cut him because he sucks.

Lookin' like a Straw Man argument . . . unless you misunderstood my cancer analogy. I should have said "cut the cancer out." Not literally cut him. Because they could still get decent haul in a trade and I'm saying for the cultural health of the team, they should. Or did you mean cut him in fantasy? Wouldn't do that either, nor did I say that. So we're creeping back to Straw Man.

Yes. I AM the ff community.

I him.

But in all seriousness, if trading him would "destroy the Eagles salary cap situation," that is news to me and it's obviously apt. But at what point does your 4-0 team find itself in a tailspin because of a malcontent and just put up with it? Maybe a tough *** coach is what he needs but Siriani seems like he's trying to please everyone at least in words and even trying to in deeds which is why he boogered up the game plan.

Cecil Lammey himself said the Broncos are a run funnel D and the Eagles ignored that to their own peril. And L.

If I were an Eagles fan, I would want rid of him.

Whine until they upset the type of attack they SHOULD have used against Denver? So they LOSE?

This is a gigantic oversimplification and honestly probably just not true. AJ Brown is a leader, not a cancer. He's just vocal. That's often a good thing.
I just don't see it that way. There are players, who hang their heads after a win . . . because they didn't get to shine. This isn't the first time he's acted like that and it sounds like he's making it about him above the team. It's not like they went into that game 1-3. They were 4-0. Keep your head down and contribute. Even if your contribution is occupying their best DB and congratulating your teammates.

The offense was 30th coming into the game. Given the opponent, this might have been the Eagles best game offensively this season. Denver is probably the NFL's best defense. Again, Lammey watches the Broncos very closely. I came to my own conclusions about Brown, and Lammey's analysis Sunday night sealed it. It looked and sounded to me like they sacrificed attacking the Bronco's vulnerability to please their malcontent. And they lost as a result. Maybe it's not true but those optics check out.

If I were an Eagles fan, I would want rid of him.

False equivalence AND at least trying to bait me into a Straw Man. The Slim Reaper hasn't pulled this stuff before to my knowledge.

But again, everyone's gotta do their job. These guys are acting like they want pats on the back from fantasy GMs not wins. It's wrong headed and Smith should NOT be following AJ's lead here.

Been a Cowboys fan since the late 70s and I am at least aware of that pain.

I've also been in bars watching games where dozens and dozens of Eagles fans cheered and high-fived over concussions to Aikman, Irvin, torn ACL for Joey Galloway, and on and on and on. Are they the minority? I don't know, but it my experience it doesn't seem like it. So I can't say the pain in those eras gets much sympathy from me.

My fantasy interests I believe have brought me some objectivity, and I do like the current team and don't have some kind of grudge against the fans the way I used to.

I think Hurts is a better leader and QB than people give him credit for and I see no reason they shouldn't be at least threatening to repeat. But like any great team, if something taints the chemistry, it's usually a big fade. Even as a Cowboys fan I'd hate to see that happen to this team because of one player.

Anyway. I'm not here to throw shade. An argument doesn't have to be a fight. But we've probably reached an impasse here so I respectfully wish you a good season and believe it or not I do hope Brown works it out.

Wow I guess I made quite a stir. Guys breaking out the logical fallacies and everything.

Skipping my man Desean Jackson for Jeremy Maclin in that list is an outrage.
You're right. But it really was an off the cuff list from my weak a$$ brain and there's gotta be others I've forgotten.
Just messing with you. Mike Quick was pretty damn good.

Don’t even get me started on the likes of Todd Pinkston, James thrash and Fredex.
How dare you forget Na Brown and Deitrich Jells?
And Jordan Matthews?
The fact that we got Maclin, Desean, and then all these bums

Kind of proves my point

Hard to do the "if I was an Eagles fan" thing without truly understanding all the pain

I appreciate this post

Now the fans part, etc I'm not asking for SYMPATHY, but understanding, which seems like you have.

Now, to the Jalen stuff - I agree with all of this, but the question I pose is

We all know repeating as a Super Bowl champion is very very hard, almost impossible.

Without looking it up again haha, and I do not know this, but has a Super Bowl champ ever repeated after losing its OC and replacing them with a first time play caller?

One thing I know for certain and this carries over into all threads. It will even be brought up in the what are you streaming threads. In our world, their is a deep disgust between Eagles and Cowboys fans. It will never improve. I get it though.

Who's feeling like giving him a clean slate this week?

Tougher wrestling with it for Thursday game for no other reason than there's less time to think, overthink, debate, and fart snark.

I'm torn between playing him and Keenan Allen. Sutton.

I'd treat him as a top-15 option this week. I'm probably sitting in the 1 league I have him in, but that's because I nailed the middle rounds and have Egbuka, McMillan, Odunze in there. Personally, I'd start him over Allen or Sutton. I am like 45/55 on Brown/McMillan just because Dallas.

Or, maybe the dumb ****ts don't know how to use him? Hmmm

I’m having serious FOMO on AJ tonite. Last minute, sitting with my thumb on the line-up button, sweating starting him in my FLEX spot. 😓
Start him and suffer like the rest of us. Misery loves company
😂 I xan’t remember a last minute line up change I’ve made that paid off. I can remember a lot that didn’t.

When he goes off, you guys can buy me a beer.
