WR Allen Robinson (1 Viewer)

As a Robinson owner in a dynasty league and just an overall fan of his talent, I'm glad to see him finally get a QB.  

I seriously can't remember a player who has done more with such terrible QB play than A.Rob.  should be interesting to watch.  

 
So I do a startup dynasty best ball draft in early Jan, take Brady (and also take A-Rob) A few weeks later Brady retires. Its a SF league and I'm pretty hosed at that time only have 1 other starter (Stafford) so I find a guy willing to take on Brady hoping he comes back...I trade Brady and A-Rob for Daniel Jones and a 3rd in 2023. Can you imagine my disgust this morning?  :wall:  I guess I'm lucky that i took Lock and Trubisky late, and now both COULD be starters...but still...to go from Brady to Daniel Jones...and give away A-Rob for a future 3rd.... :cry:  And yes, I know  :ptts:

Yeah he's a little bit of the WR version of Stafford. Interesting pairing.

 
The LA Times' Gary Klein believes Allen Robinson will be "a weapon across the field, and especially inside the 20-yard line" in Sean McVay's offense. 

Robinson, signed in March to a three-year deal worth $46.5 million, profiles as the Rams' No. 2 pass catcher behind Cooper Kupp -- a role that made Odell Beckham a valuable fantasy producer late in the 2021 season. A physical receiver who excelled on 50-50 downfield balls during his time with the Jaguars, Robinson -- entering his age-29 season -- could be featured as a red zone weapon in LA. Cooper Kupp dominated red zone opportunities in 2021 with a league-leading 26 catches on 37 targets inside the 20 yard line. Matthew Stafford, meanwhile, had the third most red zone pass attempts (112) in 2021. Robinson, comically misused and seemingly disinterested on a horrible Bears team last year, could be one of the most underdrafted receivers in fantasy leagues this season.

I think he's going to fly under the radar, but I believe he will produce more than expected as defenses leave him 1 v 1

Possible, I think Robinson's better than Woods (or was prior to last year when he seemingly gave up.) Put up very nice numbers with trash at QB, now gets the best guy he's ever played with and Kupp to eat up attention.

...coming off a disappointing final season in Chicago, earning just 38 catches for 410 yards and one TD in 2021. The 28-year-old wideout was frustrated with his role in Matt Nagy's offense, including the routes he was asked to run.

He has no such qualms after joining McVay's Rams.

"It's a system that's able to emphasize all angles of the cuts when it comes to route running for receivers," Robinson said. "And that's something from the outside looking in, before I even signed, was something I noticed. Seeing the receivers be able to run a little bit of everything."

With a new team, a new quarterback and a new running mate in Kupp, Robinson is in line for a big bounce-back campaign in 2022.

 
This is a guy I could see being significantly undervalued all draft season. You know that DC’s have spent all off-season studying and figuring out how to defend the Kupp/Stafford connection.  Kupp’s 2021 was ridiculous.

It feels like Robinson has some ‘Bears stink’ attached to him but 2019-2020 were 1200/6-7 type seasons with Nagy/Trubisky since his ADP right now is in the WR30 range.

 
I have been trying to buy him in dynasty leagues and have been shot down. I feel like i have been making fair offers for a WR that will be 29 at the start of the season.

I have ARob in 2 leagues -- in 1 I *should* be a contender if ARob reverts back to semi-stud form, which I expect to happen. With that team I wouldn't want to move him because he's an integral part of the puzzle, so I'd need something back that would fill the gap. 

The other league is a semi-rebuild and I'd move him much more willingly there, but the only offer I got for him was a late '23 2nd, which isn't enough for me. Guess it depends what you consider "fair offers."

One offer was two seconds, a third, and a fourth.

In another league I offered deonte Harris a second and a third.

I just checked and was surprised to see Cooper Kupp is 2 months OLDER than Arob.

Arob had been considered the better WR up until last year, right?

I get that Kupp and Stafford made beautiful music last year,  but after reading the above quotes from Arob I can see McVay asking both WRs to perform in similar roles, get similar looks. 

I've been watching Robinson since PSU and he's been keeping bad offenses 'afloat' for nearly a decade now - with the obvious exception of last year.

Assuming no additional legitimate pass catcher is brought in, and the target tree remains narrow, I can see Arob going for 1200 yards this year. Something only 7 pass catchers did last year. 

 
Just to throw a little bit of water on the fire here. Robert Woods was incredibly frustrating to own last season before his injury. It was Kupp and Kupp only for Stafford's eyes. 

As a Bears fan, I loved Robinson, until last season. He was often open, rarely thrown to and then he pretty much quit on the team at the end. Fields and Robinson never had a connection. Who knows what happened there, but there is no way that it was all Nagy's fault.

Not a Bears fan, but buddies of mine echo your POV on Robinson checking out.  That said...seems like Nagy dropped some relationship balls here.  Could see Robinson saying f-this once Nagy was clearly dead man walking.  Must suck to be open and never get the ball.

The thing about Kupp though is in 2020, he was pedestrian.  Obviously not his fault, but he was drafted WR18 in HPPR (FFC).  His all-time season came out of nowhere.  I imagine DC's playing the Rams spent quite a bit of time this summer seeing how they could devise schemes to limit that connection.  And it's fair to expect some regression.

Main takeaway from 2 days at Rams camp: The staff here is in love with Allen Robinson. From his approach in meetings to what he can give them in this offense. His route tree and where he can line up are more varied than they’d even hoped. Potential monster year incoming.

If only the play calling and QB play could have been as consistent as the franchise tagging, then maybe Arob would have had more incentive to put forth effort.

It was better for both parties for Arob to 'tank' last year. Let the new, young QB work with skill players that will be there beyond his rookie year. 

 
Hard to pass up a guy going to a better offense/coach/qb combo. Plus for maybe the first time in his life he won't be defended by the other team's best corner.

Matt Harmon and Zachariason and some other heavy hitters are on A-Rob and that's starting to move his ADP.

ETA:  I personally don't see a great ceiling as long as Kupp is healthy, but I do see a high floor so it depends what you're looking for is how I see him.

Robinson is a guy I've been getting as a WR3 in mocks quite a bit. I agree he's a high floor guy, but I think he has a deceptively high ceiling, whether if be by Kupp injury, rushing ineffectiveness, or the defense taking a step back without Miller.

We know Robinson can be a heavy target guy if needed, and Stafford is easily the best QB he's ever had. I like Robinson more than lesser #1s such as Cooks or Bateman, and more than potential breakout #2s who aren't as proven like Gabriel Davis or Jerry Jeudy. 

 
I love hearing this from Rams Camp.  In a keeper league my last keeper spot is a battle between Robinson and Bateman.  It was going to be Bateman, now it is a wait and see.  Good problem to have. 😀

I would say that should be your plan unless A-Rob is your WR 4 or 5.  He will be start worthy every week.

Los Angeles Rams WR Van Jefferson (knee) will visit a specialist Monday, Aug. 1, regarding a lingering knee issue, according to a source.

Some bad news for the Rams here. Jefferson is working as the no.3 receiver on the depth chart behind Cooper Kupp and Allen Robinson. There is the possibility that Jefferson could be sidelined for several weeks and may need to undergo surgery. That means guys like Tutu Atwell - who has been getting quite a bit of positive reports about his game - will get an opportunity to do more in training camp.

I'm sure the AP Offensive Player of the Year in 2,021 with 145/1947/16TDs will be shutdown much of the time and ARob3 will vault to the top of the charts.

He is a surefire Week 1 bust against the Buffalo Bills on Thursday Night Football, you did say his floor was double digit TDs, something less than 10 WRs typically do each season.

Thielen, JJ, Diggs, Adams, Metcalf, Chase, Evans and Cooper Kupp in ascending order.

After Atlanta at home Week 2 they have to travel to Arizona and San Fran B2B weeks before coming home to face Dallas and Carolina, this is a tougher stretch than many seem to acknowledge but you enjoy that feast.
