WR Andrei Iosivas, CIN (3 Viewers)

He now deserves his own thread. One of the most interesting stories out of camp this year.

Measurements: 6'3", 205. Scores with percentiles -- 4.43 forty, speed score of 109.4 (91st), burst score of 130.0 (88th), agility score of 10.97 (80th), catch radius of 10.35 (96th)*

Drafted in the sixth round. Former Princeton heptathlete. Holds Ivy League record for points at a meet in the heptathlon. Has now drawn over at least 23 targets in three postseason games. Scored a touchdown today in the back of the end zone. Just made the 53-man roster.

Dropped Danny Gray for this guy. Won't really matter as I have to reduce my roster from 28 to 24 before the season begins anyway.
 
We roster 51 total (full IDP) and I plan on holding if he's able to make a club. He and Trey Palmer and Demario Douglas are a few holds I have for developmental purposes (no taxi squad). I'd rather cut middling performers/roster cloggers than lose those guys, two of whom are elite athletes in almost every sense.
 
If he had been drafted just about anywhere else, he'd have worked his way into the rotation at the very least. Unfortunately he landed behind the best 3 some in the league. Will take an injury to see the field.

Oh he's on my taxi safe and sound. I just meant for this season. Though if they manage to keep Higgins and let Boyd go.... I still don't see the rosiest future for him. If it's the reverse I think he'll push ahead of Boyd and be the WR2 eventually.
 
As a Bengals fan, I love but hate the type of offseason he is having. He has impressed me a lot this preseason. I think he has the tools to be a WR2 in this league, maybe not this year, but in the near future. For any athleticism attributes he lacks, he makes up for it with smarts. Only reason I hate the offseason he has had is the Bengals are more likely to let Tee walk knowing they have a cheaper option.

It might just be lip service, but Joe Burrow has talked about Tom Brady being a big influence as far as winning being more important than record setting contracts. I wouldn't be shocked if Burrow took a much smaller deal than Herbert/Lamar got, if it meant they could sign Higgins long term.

But yeah, Boyd is almost a lock to be gone in 2024.

It might just be lip service, but Joe Burrow has talked about Tom Brady being a big influence as far as winning being more important than record setting contracts. I wouldn't be shocked if Burrow took a much smaller deal than Herbert/Lamar got, if it meant they could sign Higgins long term.

But yeah, Boyd is almost a lock to be gone in 2024.

This would def be my worry concerning Iosivas long-term. Would be great for the rest of the roster though lol. So far Burrow seems to be doing and saying all the right things, so it wouldn't surprise me if he does take that route. With some fancy accounting and shifting of money, he likely doesn't even have to give up much. Just restructure what he has so the team can work with the others more freely.
 
Is there anything to see here with Higgins' injury? Thinking more for keeper/dynasty purposes with Higgins and Boyd both UFA after this season. Just don't know much about this guy.

Had a good camp and has a lot of talent - now will be get bumped into the lineup in whole or part over Trenton Irwin? That is uncertain at this particular moment.

However if he gets the opportunity he might just be who they look to if they don't extend Higgins. Worth a speculative add IMO especially if the view is longer term

Any updated thoughts on this guy? Tyler Boyd is most likely gone, Tee possibly playing his last year with Cincy. Is Andrei a sneaky buy-low and hold a year for dynasty players? If they do not add anyone worthy in the draft will he take on the “Boyd” role?

I think so. Even if people don't think he's better than a mediocre talent (I do though), he's paired with a top 5 QB, and would be playing across from a top 3 WR drawing the top DBs and often double/bracket coverage. It's hard not to think the Bengals go to the WR well at some point in this draft, but if they don't do it early I think Yoshi is getting more snaps this year, and could be their number 2 in 2025 when Tee goes elsewhere.
 
If they really go Yoshi/Higgins together, we could also see a spike in slot snaps for Chase. Hard to say exactly what that would do, but generally speaking your best WR running out of slot would be good for FF. ASB exploded doing it last year. Cooper Kupp has done it consistently.
 
He struggled to get separation and capitalize on a late opportunity last year and had only 36 ypg in those.
I'd have liked a highlight reel catch or suddenness or nice deep play or something to hang my hat on

Him and Chase Brown spent a lot of time on route running this off-season, he has improved. Good athletic ability to start with, I think he will be a factor.

Another problem I have is Burton and Jones. I don't get a vibe that any one of them has established themselves as the clear leader. There's good praise for all of them pretty regularly.
The day of Burrows quote and the day after, Shedrick Jackson had a couple great practices and bested all of them. I've seen a bunch of Bengals fans say they're afraid he's going to do well for another team.
Reading more of him and I very much get stuck on the others not being an alpha here.

The difference between a team's third and fifth WR is dramatic for FF. Boyd only left so many yards and catches on the table for them and I'm not inclined to grab a share.

From what I understand, Jones is the best route runner and that makes me think slot more than the other two. His college highlights and draft writeup and last summer writeups all lend towards slot too. I know the Bengals move guys around so as much as we can I expect that's the opening to be filled and he was drafted for that role.

Yoshi could very well wind up being Higgins heir and backing up he and Chase outside this season. We say he's an important sub and he makes some big catches but for FF we wouldn't want him til next year.

Again though- I'm putting way too much thought into a team's third to fifth WR.

Iosivas is going to have a large role in this offense no matter if Chase or Higgins miss games this year. He is carving himself a role on this team that Tyler Boyd once had and he would put up numbers in the 65 catch-700 yards-5 TD's range on a yearly basis. He is the pick to take not Jermaine Burton as the late round flyer.

That seems to be the narrative out there, and I agree with it. I think he has the talent to be the long term number two. In a passing offense that can be very valuable.
 
I have Burton in all my dynasty leagues. I'm not expecting much or anything from him this year but assuming Higgins does leave after this year, do you guys think Burton will leapfrog Iosivas or will he be their #3 next year and Iosivas will be the new #2.
 
Initially, I think the plan was Burton in the slot and Iosivas would be the back up for Chase or Higgins on the outside by I think Iosivas have pushed their hand to make sure he's on the field.

The only thing I'm unsure is that Chase is clamoring to play out of the slot more often and if he gets his way how does that impact Iosivas?

I always planned on next season, but the maturity issues and coach & QB calling him out are problematic. I fear I burned a 3.02

I coulda had the kid on the Jets or Vidal :wall:

I'd be more concerned with Mike Geseki getting the slot reps more than Chase at least in 2024. Good thing with Iosivas is he is versatile. He is willing and able to do just about anything the coaching staff throws at him. I could see a lot of 4 wide sets with 1 RB -Chase, Higgins out wide with Geseki and Iosivas inside.
 
Yoshi is like a UDFA. They love him, no doubt, but there's always some supposed better athlete or higher pick ready to replace him.

Titans HC Callahan was even asked if NWI reminds him of Yoshi. He stopped, smiled, then had to say he can't comment on other teams players. It definitely was "heh, yep" reaction.

Jones is supposed to be the slot. Burton is supposed to have replaced Tee who is no longer on the team. That stuff didn't happen. Sooo bring back Tee and then Burton or Jones can fill the other spot....or not, so Iosivas will step up.

He's got nice hands, known for being intelligent and a good teammate, hustle, effort, there's always someone singling him out to reporters...they love this guy, but "he ain't it."

(Not a UDFA, bear with me though) He's gotta shed that UDFA label by making enough plays that they are no longer saying things like they're eager to see what Jones or Burton can do but instead saying those two will have to beat out Yoshi or Tee.

I don't think he can do it. Like NWI, he's a nice athlete but when ya watch him, he's a clear step down from the elite athletes that the other WRs are. Mariota and Tua have mentioned him (and every Hawaii athlete) and they'll say phrases like "he can contribute."

It seems like he's got this year to prove he can handle it. I would have him in redraft but realize he is the guy they sub for. I'd have him in dynasty because what if but he's got one year to shed this fictitious UDFA label
 
Too lazy to look it up, but a recent FBG article discounted Burton and hypothesized that Higgins could be traded as soon as in season and Losivas would take over the "Higgins role".

There was an off-season article/video which highlighted Andrei’s improved route running with a receivers coach that him and Chase Brown worked with. I think he has a chance to really surprise people this year.

Yoshi is the kind of guy who will maximize his talent - Princeton level smarts and the low draft standing just means he'll always have to earn it. Might never be "the guy" but he is the kind of the kind of guy who will be in the top 3 on the team for like ten years and be that respected solid veteran and captain .

Bengals have a history with this type as Houshmandzadeh was a 7th-rounder

Btw Yoshi wasn't a UDFA - the Bengals drafted him in round 6 and the upside of the pick has been something Bengals fans have been excited about this whole time.

I think they see Burton and Yoshi in different lanes (they are in different sections of the depth chart - Burton is shown as behind Chase). I don't think that it is a long-term either/or situation.

If the rumors about Burton slacking are true they are going to hold out Yoshi as the example Burton should aspire. Hopefully being on the bench/deactivated gets the message through to the kid.

Chuck Sizzle (Charlie Jones) is big on special teams so he'd be active above Burton. And Trenton Irwin is the epitome of dependable veteran that they are going to prefer having in the line-up so long as Burton is freelancing on his routes.

The Bengals are notorious for not getting their rookies involved their 1st year, especially someone who was drafted in the 6th round. Last year Iosivas was primarily taking snaps out wide and was stuck on the depth chart behind Trenton Irwin only playing 26% of snaps all year. This year he is the starting WR3 / slot receiver with no Tyler Boyd and another 2nd year guy in Charlie Jones as his competition, proved to the staff in preseason he earned himself a starting spot at WR3. Tyler Boyd played 76% of the snaps last year that will be missing in 2024, a void that a lot of that will go to Iosivas. He certainly has the opportunity this season to show what he can do and I think he will. 60-700-5 is low imo.

Burton on the other hand, I get the hype from his play in preseason, but there are some off field shenanigan's that are swirling in Cincy and if the Bengals go the route of not relying on their rookies a ton in year 1 like years past, I could see him only playing sparingly all year until/if he truly proves it. Even then I think it would take an injury to Chase or Higgins for this to happen and I also believe Trenton Irwin would get the first shot if they did. Irwin is a reliable vet that the staff and Burrow trusts to get the job done. May not be flashy but is dependable and knows his role.
