Cooks will be used deep too.Correct. Stills will get the targets Joe Morgan had yesterday. The Saints like having a guy that just goes deep.Cooks is a starter on this team and will not be bumped by Stills.
I watched the Saints for the entire '11 season as my magic football team had two Saints WRs. My favorite Brees reaction was when I started Devery Henderson one week in '11 and he threw a bomb to him for a TD. In the presser afterwards, Brees said, "Yeah, I totally trust Devery. Lot of trust on that play." Thing was, Brees was almost rolling his eyes as he said it. Devery fell off the radar after that. That's how Brees is, he has his favorites, it was Sproles, Colston and Graham, now it looks like Cooks, Colston and Graham. Over and over and over again. I'm not sure what effect Stills will have but another way to look at this is that this was just Cooks first game, the bond will develop more possibly, not less.I'm going to rewatch the game but it seemed like Brees was looking Cooks way first every play. The problem is Cooks might only be on the field half the snaps he was this week when Stills comes back.
Yep. As long as Colston keeps dropping balls and Cooks continues to catch everything thrown his way and making plays, I expect him to remain WR1 in that offense. My only criticism of him thus far is that he could stand to be a bit more decisive running with the ball. I thought he could've taken that one long run against Cleveland down the left sideline to the house, but he slowed down to try and shake a defender. Same goes for his punt returns..a bit too Tavonesque at times for my liking.Milkman said:Yeah I'm legit impressed with this kid. There was a play yesterday where it looked like Brees anticipated Cooks getting open quickly on the sideline but for whatever reason Cooks didn't get any separation. Instead of Brees looking somewhere else he just stayed locked on Cooks and Cooks gave a head fake, worked back to the ball like a vet, got a tiny bit of separation, and bam Brees rifled it in there. It was a completely broken play but they looked like they have been playing together for years so it turned out to be a 9 yard gain.
I don't know what to think about the lack of targets down the field. I'm hearing teams are trying to take away the big play but if Cooks is going to score 15 points a game without getting a TD or a 50 yard catch he's going to be gold in PPR leagues for a long time because those plays will come. He's not even 21 years old yet.
The longer Colston looks bad the quicker they are going to turn to Cooks as well.
Brandin Cooks caught five passes for 31 yards in Sunday night's Week 4 loss to the Cowboys.
It was a step back after Cooks had eight catches for 72 yards last week. He was targeted just six times, and didn't get any red-zone looks. Through four games, Cooks is on pace for 92 catches, 796 yards, and four touchdowns.

Last year the two fastest WRs were MIN WR Corderelle Patterson and STL WR Tavon Austin.I thought he was so fast. That YPR is lame.
I had this impression too, but overall they have 426 YPG and 23.8 PPG, vs. 399.4 YPG and 25.9 PPG last year.I think the entire saints O has failed to live up to expectations. I see it as a team thing.
This is about a guy who was "touted" as a plug and play right now, a game changer. If indeed you are admitting that he is no more special than any other rookie this year then I agree with you. At least the other WRs have poor quarterback play and scheme to blame. I have seen nothing from Cooks that makes me believe he was worth a 1.01 in rookie drafts like many suggested. He's just a guy IMO who should be more than he is in this high powered offense with this hall of fame quarterback. Expected electric and got a flicker. Tavon Austin V.2 up to this point. Hopefully that changes but I doubt it. Smallish receivers tend to disappoint.LOL this thread was crickets when he was doing well, and now one subpar game and the haters gather.
Sure he hasn't been blowing up left and right like Benjamin, but he's scoring in the range of Garcon, hilton, Jefferey, Cruz, etc... So if he isn't living up to your expectations, you probably shouldn't have drafted him to be your WR1/2.
I'm admitting that he's done about par for the course when it comes to where he was taken in redrafts. If you took him 1.01 in a rookie draft over Benjamin, well that's something you gotta live with. Aside from his lackluster punt return moves, I see very little similarities in his game compared to Austin. For one, Cooks actually attacks the ball in the air, whereas Austin generally falls down. Percy Harvin he is not, but Tavon Austin is a terrible comparison. This is about a guy who was "touted" as a plug and play right now, a game changer. I like what I see. Targets, good/great qb, not-so-good defense, Colston fading away. Would like to see him targeted on some deep throws.Anybody have any thoughts on Brandin Cooks season so far? He got the ball in the red zone a couple times on an early series but couldn't punch it in. His YPC is not very pretty but he's getting a ton of targets.
Far and away the best WR on the team. Outside of Graham, no one else on this team can get open with any regularity. Still Graham and Cooks are 2 damn good weapons to throw to.Anybody have any thoughts on Brandin Cooks season so far? Brandin Cooks - WR - Saints
Brandin Cooks led Saints wideouts in snaps Week 5 with 68-of-91.
Cooks' usage has frustrated owners a bit as he's averaging just 8.0 yards per reception. But this is his role -- he's doing Darren Sproles things and letting his YAC skills do the talking. On pace for 102 catches and clearly a major part of the weekly gameplan, Cooks is a excellent weekly PPR bet.

yes alittle disappointed in Cooks in the last game vs the lions. only 3 targets??? what? why is this happening. Clearly looks like he is the 4th option at best. Very surprising esp with J. Graham being limited. Graham/ Colston/Stills are light years ahead if yesterday is any indication of going forward. I was bullish on him im not gonna lie but now in my redraft im thinking bench for K. wright or A. rob.So it's the everybody besides Cooks show. Didn't see that comin
Same situation last week and he did nothingMcGarnicle said:Cooks intriguing tonight in a possible shoutout?
Saints have only played two home games and they were Cooks' highest targets and receptions (10/8 and 11/9). No Pierre Thomas, and Graham is banged up.![]()
OoofI'm benching Cooks for Patterson. I'm starting Ingram and I need upside so I figure if I started a RB and WR from the same team I would be capping my team a bit.
