Dane Brugler says he has heard the Steelers love LSU’s WR Brian Thomas: “This might be his floor. If he doesn't go off the board before 20, I do think this might be the floor for him. I've heard they love Brian Thomas. Everyone wants them to take another character faller on Day 2. My impression of the Steelers is that they're... kind of sick of that. Understandably so based on the last few seasons. I think they'd love to just hit a homerun with a guy like Brian Thomas in the first round.” #Steelers #NFL
How many people have him a clear tier above WR5+ but still below MHJ, Nabers and Odunze?
Move up if you can. He's quite clearly a notable step down from what's above him at the same positionEvaluating what to do with the 11 pick in SF rookie draft, and whether I want to move up or down assuming the 8-9 players I expect to go above him to indeed go above him
He's been in a tier by himself for me as WR4 since January.How many people have him a clear tier above WR5+
This plus Harmon and I might be ok taking him at 1.2 in my devy league. Sorry for meing.@Steelersdepot

If the majority don't see him as a clear standout above that 5-whatever WR tier then it makes shuffling down a spot or two more favourable
I used to be one of those talent above all. Situation matters, how many have Olove ranked high and what really has he done? Two season of numbers that are easy to replace.How many people have him a clear tier above WR5+ but still below MHJ, Nabers and Odunze? To me, landing spot is everything...I could see myself moving a player like Pearsall above Thomas if Pearsall were to land in a superior situation.
For example, Pearsall to KC and Thomas to Carolina...I'd likely have Pearsall higher.

We watched them both play. There is clearly a substantial difference right now.Listening to Brian Kelly talk like there isn't a big difference between he and Nabers was interesting.
I know I know college coaches gush but I still enjoyed it
He's proud. He's something like a dad gushing that his son caught the biggest fish ever but it was six inches long; and it's just as expected when the dad or coach talks.We watched them both play. Maybe he meant developmentally they can get to the same level, but they are, to anyone who watched, obviously not at the same level right now.

Two risers for you: LSU WR Brian Thomas Jr. and Georgia OT Amarius Mims - they won’t be around very long come Thursday. Teams love these dudes.
Teams in the mid/late 20s I imagine.Evan SilvaBrugler confirmed “several teams” have flagged #LSU WR Brian Thomas for medical concerns.x.com

With the 23rd overall pick, the @jaguars select WR Brian Thomas Jr. from LSU

Other than that his QB isn’t very goodSeems like nearly ideal landing spot.

My man Brian Thomas Jr!!! Reminds me of AJ Brown. Runs by people, makes plays after the catch. He’s more explosive than MHJ. No more excuses for this Jags offense.
AJ Brown, Davante Adams, DJ Moore, Justin Jefferson, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Mike Evans would like a word.Other than that his QB isn’t very goodSeems like nearly ideal landing spot.

Calvin Ridley and Zay Jones had 200 targets last year and the Jaguars replaced them with Brian Thomas Jr. and Gabe Davis. The opportunity is much nicer than I realized for Brian Thomas Jr.
@32BeatWriters
“While some portions of practice are on air and don't bear much resemblance to what Thomas will see on Sundays, there are still moments throughout practice where worthwhile reps occur. Thomas made one impressive touchdown in the corner of the end zone in red-zone drills. Lawrence put the ball where only Thomas could get it, and the rookie receiver used his catch radius to haul it in. It wasn't the perfect day with one dropped touchdown later in the practice, but Thomas' speed and hands overall flashed a good bit on Tuesday.”

Press Taylor on rookie WR Brian Thomas:
"You see obviously the intelligence in the quick twitch, in the long speed show up throughout our practices as we go through things, or even routes on air. He grows every single day. He is a guy that’s very easy to communicate with because he’s intelligent. Football comes naturally to him. Learning, picturing concepts, understanding routes, how we’re attacking certain coverages. So, you see his growth every day, which is fun to see."
I had posted before the NFL draft about how I’d heard teams say how intelligent he was and it’s really nice to keep hearing that steady drumbeat. And let me say it’s of course good to hear for any player but especially a player whose physical tools are second to none in this class and one of the biggest knocks on him was that he had not shown a lot with respect to a full route tree.@32BeatWriters

Is that good or bad?Maybe some of you guys think this and might be Vince McMahoning-ing over this, but he reminds me of Josh Gordon.
@32BeatWriters
“With Thomas finally being given a chance to track down a deep ball that wasn't on air, the LSU product showed off the traits that made him a first-round pick. Despite incredibly tight coverage from Darby, who was step-for-step with Thomas during the route, Thomas was able to get vertical and make a contested catch for the touchdown. It was not only Thomas' first true highlight play of camp, but it is the best play a pass-catcher has made through five practices.”
@32BeatWriters
We asked beat writer @_John_Shipley why we haven't seen more hype for Brian Thomas. His response:
"Thomas Jr. got off to a slow start in training camp, struggling with routes against the Jaguars’ press scheme and having issues in the red-zone. As expected, veteran corners Ronald Darby and Tyson Campbell limited him. Thomas Jr. has turned it on in recent days though, with three deep targets from Trevor Lawrence over the last two days. He has gotten behind the defense each time and has shown he can potentially add value as a field stretcher while he rounds out his game."
Hide behind his wife……..jk before pitchforks come out.The above is making me think I can get a lot of mileage out of Kirk and Engram, relative to ADP, at least for the first several weeks of the Season.
What do you think Trevor Lawrence is going to do when the live bullets start flying?
@32BeatWriters
“BTJ has been working his way through training camp and making steady steps in the right direction. After a quiet start to camp, he has been flashing every day for the last couple weeks. On Wednesday, he was open deep down the field twice. Lawrence missed him the first time but then the pair connected later in practice and the crowd erupted..”

Jags rookie Brian Thomas Jr., their first round pick from LSU, gets behind the #Bucs defense again for a long TD pass from Trevor Lawrence.
Daniel Giffis
At the NFL Combine, Brian Thomas Jr. reached a top speed of 22.91 mph while running a go route, more than a full mile per hour faster than any other receiver during that route.

#Jaguars OC Press Taylor on the development of Brian Thomas Jr.:
“You just see this progression and you see a little bit more of him becoming who he knew he would be. And, again, I think he’s a long way from where he’s gonna be in two weeks, let alone 18 weeks from now.”
