WR Chris Godwin, TB (1 Viewer)

Something inside of me is saying he is a sell "very high" in dynasty if you can rake.  Brady isn't for long and who knows what they will do after Brady.

Godwin walks in FA next year if he wants. He really controls his own playing destiny as of next year, with both quarterback and alpha dog ramifications.

would not start a conversation if it was me. i am just not a ridley guy. it would have to be something much better plus ridley as the throw in.
I've got both in a couple of keeper/dynasty leagues.

I'm sky high on Ridley this year.  I think there's a great chance he has a top 10 season.  There's a ton of open targets available in ATL right now.  He's averaged 8.5 TD's/ season the first two years.  He's got major room for improvement in terms of targets, receptions, yards.

I think Godwin's a great player in a great spot presently.  But I can see Ridley being this year's Godwin.  I wouldn't take Ridley/2nd round pick for Godwin, but I don't think Ridley is a throw in at all.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ridley and Godwin finish pretty close this year. Wait until Ridley has a few good games and it will probably narrow the gap as Brady continues to try to mesh with his new weapons.
I definitely think Ridley has a top 10 season in him.  He's more or less the Chris Godwin of 2020 IMO.

I'm an outlier for sure. The only thing I can see is that he isn't Julio. Which I am sure is completely unfair. It's just that I own Julio almost everywhere and as a result I don't have Ridley. He has never scared me in my opponent's boxscore and I've never had him in mine, so I have a bit of a blindspot with him. I'll admit he probably has quite a bit more upside than I'm giving credit. But I'll take Godwin by a wide margin.

i had him in a redraft last year and he and Cook carried my team in the middle of the year, mainly Ridley (it was redraft and I went RB-RB-WR). He was on pace for about a WR15 finish if he didn't get hurt last year. I think he was 17th PPG. Not shabby.

I'd trade Goodwin now if I owned him. He will never be worth more and theres near zero chance he repeats last year. You could name your price with him right now.

I am not saying he is Antonio Brown, but many people including myself said to trade Brown after his monster year in 2014. I personally think you are looking at Brown light here. I think he is going to put up multiple top 10 fantasy seasons for the next few seasons.

Yeah and I get that. I don't see that but I understand how you could come to that conclusion. That being said you'd make a great trading partner with me. If you think he's elite you'll pay up. He's worth it to you.

Chris Godwin caught 6-of-7 targets for 79 yards in the Bucs' Week 1 loss to the Saints.

Godwin led the team in targets, though he also got shaken up on his last look of the game. It had the looks of a possible concussion. It will be something to monitor over the next 24 hours. Godwin looked to be on his way to a big day against the Saints when Brady lobbed a high-arcing pass to him in the first quarter for a 29-yard gain. It was mostly intermediate targets from Brady from there on out. Godwin likely won't have the peaks and valleys that Mike Evans is destined to have once again in Tampa. He's a top wideout in Week 2 against Carolina.

In the concussion protocol. Ughhhhh. Big thanks to Brady for that late medicine ball he threw.

But do you even trust him if he's cleared? I guess we have to.
I have to. We have a start 3 WR league and depth is non existent. WW is scorched as well, surprisingly. Usually there are at least a few options but people dropped big money on MVS, Miller, and Gage (to a lesser extent) last night and of course guys like Paris are already rostered. I might try and pull off a trade.

Chris Godwin is in the league's concussion protocol.

Uh oh. Godwin didn't show symptoms Monday or Tuesday but is now under the surveillance of concussion specialists. Coach Bruce Arians said the team will be "very cautious" with Godwin. Fantasy players need to be prepared to not have Godwin for Week 2 against the Panthers. The good news for Tampa is Mike Evans (hamstring) practiced Wednesday and "ran well," according to Arians. Scotty Miller would be a surefire WR3 play against lowly Carolina if Godwin sits.

Worried about reps I guess. Still, entering concussion protocol on a Wednesday probably means a very little chance he's cleared by Sunday anyway.
I wouldn’t worry about the reps much. But yeah it’ll be tough for him to clear. Like roto said, expect to be without him.

Bucs WR Chris Godwin remained in the NFL's concussion protocol Thursday, and could miss this week's game against Carolina.

Greg Auman of The Athletic said Godwin is now a "big question mark" for Week 2 after entering the protocol earlier this week. Coach Bruce Arians said the team will be "very cautious" with Godwin, who caught 6-of-7 targets for 79 yards in the Bucs' Week 1 loss to the Saints. Fantasy players should make plans assuming Godwin will be out this week. Scotty Miller, who saw six targets (18 percent of the team's targets) last week against New Orleans, should be added in all 12-team leagues. And Mike Evans could see a target boost in Godwin's absence.

Do we know what step of the concussion protocol he's on? I don't think I've seen that reported anywhere. Seems everyone is assuming he was just placed in the protocol after delayed symptoms but isn't it possible he was already in the protocol but that was not directly known until yesterday?

Except

After participating in team drills on Monday and Tuesday, news came out that Chris Godwin missed practice on Wednesday
first sentence in the linked PFN article above. not that it matters that much the timing, he would have to clear two tests by saturday I believe. tomorrow news imo is the most significant.

from CBS

(39 mins ago) Godwin (concussion) was present at practice Friday with a helmet, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.

The 24-year-old sat out the first two practices of the week while in the concussion protocol, but he appears to have made some progress Friday. Godwin still may not have fully cleared the protocol, but the fact he's practicing in some capacity is good news and opens the window for him suiting up Week 2. More information will be available when the Tampa Bay releases its official injury report later in the day.

more from CBS

(9 hrs ago) Godwin (concussion) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Panthers.

However, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Godwin could be upgraded to 'questionable' if doctors give him favorable feedback after he goes through more testing Saturday. This is especially noteworthy after the Bucs upgraded Mike Evans (hamstring) from doubtful to questionable last weekend, then used him on 93 percent of offensive snaps in a loss to the Saints. Evans has been removed from the Week 2 injury report, so he could be looking at a huge target haul if Godwin doesn't end up playing. Scotty Miller and Justin Watson would round out three-wide formations in that scenario, but it's also possible the Bucs would use more multi-TE looks with Godwin out of the lineup. Fortunately, the Bucs and Panthers are scheduled for a 1 p.m. ET kickoff Sunday, giving Godwin's fantasy managers a full array of alternatives if he's declared inactives.

That was a legit hit that Godwin took...you could see he was feeling it right away.

Is there a Doctor in the house?

(or alternately, someone who can explain what it would take to get him out of the concussion protocol?)

From Rotoworld:

CHRIS GODWIN WR, TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS

Chris Godwin (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 2 against the Panthers.

Godwin recorded 79 yards on seven targets in Week 1 and then showed concussion-like symptoms on Wednesday. This opens the door for high ceiling games for Mike Evans and Scotty Miller, as the Panthers deploy one of the worst secondaries in the NFL. Miller's output could be very similar to last week, five receptions for 73 yards, but expect Evans to receive much more opportunity after seeing just four targets against the Saints. Both are comfortable starts for Week 2, with Evans being the priority.
