WR DeAndre Hopkins, BAL (2 Viewers)

As a Texans fan, nice to see DHop get a chance at a ring. I don't think he's still quite the same player anymore, but probably has enough juice left to make an impact for half a season.
Hopkins is easy to root for. The Chiefs are winning the SB this season. The NFL has shown their hand all season with the favorable calls. The NFL is going to capitalize on the Kelce / Swift popularity one last season to rake in tons of cash before Kelce retires.

Sad but true. Only way the train stops is if mahomes hurts himself

The Pentaverate approved this at the Meadows just last week, except the Colonel of course. RIP

Edit to add: not saying he won't have value, so I'm not saying to give him away. But someone in your league is dreaming of those double digit catch days back with the Cards. They will back up the truck for you.

Does Hopkins jump ahead of McMillan and Jennings as the hot pickup at wr this week?
McMillan might be the Nacua of 2024.
Nacua was a beast from week 1. McMillan might finish with 500 yards receiving if he does really good.
He was. Kupp started the year on IR. Godwin obviously did not.

Just saying McMillan likely becomes the target hog in Godwin's absence. He had 8 against Baltimore. Production wasn't there, but that could change with the practice reps and being more of a featured option. Just throwing it out there. Sorry, Hopkins thread.

I feel like Otton, Shepard, McMillan all see increases but no one stands out.

Very much could be the case.

I’ve already offered him up for Bigsby

Other owner is hard up for WR help

Wondering how much to bid on him. Everyone has at least 50% faab left. Wondering how high every one wants to go

I just saw them throw out the carcass of Juju for 7/130 in the first game without Rice.

That's the guy the most WR needy team in the league cut despite having a guaranteed salary.

I plan to do exactly this on the 2 dynasty squads I own him that will not be making the playoffs. The question is do you try to move right now or wait a few weeks and hope for some solid production?

just picked him up in a league where my wrs are dead. hes starting for me
not sure if he will be fantasy relevant this week, as its hard to absorb much of the playbook in only a couple of days. but I'm betting they have a few red zone plays he will be up to speed on.

hes the type of WR that you can direct him to run to a certain spot on the field and if the QB can throw it to the right spot (up high) Hopkins should be able to outjump whoever to get the TD.

Mahomes IS the type of QB who can make that throw.

I'd say there is a better than 50-50 chance he gets a TD this week, but yardage wise will be low (likely 30 to 50 yards) and he likely only gets a handful of targets so not a lot of catches

so lets say, 5 or 6 targets, 4 catches 40-50 yards and likely a TD would be my guess for this week.

An update on D Hop? Is he staying or there is a good chance of him being traded?
He loves Nashville and is really into it. You've gotta check out his social media. It's all wow with players you know commenting on the food or him in a cowboy hat or a fancy suit.

His mom is blind and she's his heart. She loves it too and there's so much heart warming stuff with those two.

The Titans owner loves him. She was not at all happy about AJB being traded and I wouldn't even ask her if it's ok if I were the GM. I'd be worried I'd get fired for asking.

I put him as especially highly doubtful to be traded.
Then he tweeted something recently-
"Patience is wisdom"
"I was raised to be loyal and don't take the easy road"
For me, that's fuel to the he's not being traded thought.

The Titans do not think they're far off. This is not one of their usual bad teams
So glad I didn't listen to some random Titans fan who says player A loves his city and will never leave...I scooped up DHop a few days after the above post...

These Fanposts of a random player who plays for "their team" and will "never leave" almost always always leaving for brighter pastures whether it is money or chasing a ring.

He is better than JuJu but will take awhile to get going and he is pretty long in the tooth.

I have had a nightmare season losing Rashee, Nico, and now Godwin so scooped him up but not expecting amazing things.

 You happen to be right here that he was tradeable, but so what? Bri gives better takes than most posters.

Except this one of course.

I have both Hopkins and mahomes and really need him (both of them really)to give me something.

My WRs in this league are collins (IR), flowers (injured) and Jameson (2 game suspension). Spent the #1 ww spot on juju after his big game.

Hanging on by a thread due to my rbs and kettle, but I kinda need this guy to be a wr2 type for a couple of weeks at least

Does Hopkins jump ahead of McMillan and Jennings as the hot pickup at wr this week?
Interesting comparison. I love Jennings, but he still must contend with Deebo and the potential that Pearsall takes a step forward as the season wears on. McMillan is still a bit of an unknown quantity. Hopkins immediately becomes the most reliable WR on the Chiefs' roster. I would rate them all pretty similarly ROS, honestly, but DHop probably goes to the top of that list for me.

I tried to buy but can't afford it.

I offered Dowdle to the Hopkins owner in our home league, they're very RB needy. Desperate, even.

They countered with Hopkins for Hunt. I can't get there on that since I'm down Pacheco and need the RB depth.

I sent Dowdle+Coleman off his big game for Hopkins.

Got countered with Hopkins for Dowdle+Waddle.

Anyways, I'm probably bowing out

Sorry I didn't mean to call out a good Shark Pool member... It was more of a vent where you hear a big fan of a player/team hype the player up saying he would never ever leave a certain team because of family or other circumstances...

I'm surprised.

I said earlier the GM wouldn't last if he did and I still very much think this.
Why? Trading him is 100% the right move for the Titans.
He's got a lot of quotes and social media posts of how much he loves the city and will be there the rest of his life.
He answered reporters Qs about trade rumors with quotes I shared here. One of them that he was raised to see things through.
Most of all his mom. He and her have become close to the Titans female owner. His mom is blind and he is a good boy thru n thru. He was very happy very at peace because TN offered certain things for blind people and he'd say things like he hasn't seen his mom this happy in years, it's nice to know she's taken care of when he's not there and nice to know this and that are available for her etc.
She has to like Kansas city as much as he does. She has to have certain things available.

He once talked how Houston was great with the effort and kindness towards her but they just didn't have XYZ. I don't recall what. The reporter asked if it was a big weight off his shoulders and he choked up nodding yes.

The Titans owner grew up in Houston too. Somewhere in here his mom and her became so tight.

On the radio this morning, it was opined that the hangup of the deal being final was Nuk wanted to be sure she'd be cared for

I'd like to think I'm not some random person. I have had a book unpublished for years. I was a finalist for the FSWA hall of fame the first few years. I started in FF and eventually became a reporter and have been in locker rooms and on sidelines, texted players and coaches etc. After working for USA today, twice I turned down working for the NFL. The second time discussing it here- their salary offered was not enough for California life. The people that took those jobs bunked up with a roommate or two and that wouldn't have been possible with me having a wife n kids then.
I still have a lot of e-friends and we stay in touch and I've been privy to some info over the years.
I've had my day. I'm a has been. I gave it up to raise my kids. Life happens.
I don't mind being called out when I'm wrong.
I mind being called out when I quote someone and believe what they say.
Deandre answered Qs of a potential trade a few times and aside from when he spoke of his mother the responses were a bit cryptic but not that one would expect it to happen. For example- where he not only told the reporters but tweeted how he sees things through and doesn't quit during hard times or something like that. In no way would I expect that is inferring he wants to be traded.

I am often told in life that I need to do things other than the Titans with my time. You can infer what makes someone say that to another person and how much time I spend.

Hopkins sat out the final two series Sunday and again answered trade Qs saying no no he was sore and asked the docs if he could sit.

I don't like the horses mouth common saying but I couldn't be more comfortable being wrong in that scenario

I would expect WR3 numbers if he can stay on the field.
maybe even a little higher
my expectation is that hes for sure a WR3. likely a high end WR3 or Low end WR2 as that line is a bit hazy but likely in that range. there is more upside because of who is throwing him the ball but I also have concerns as DHop hasnt been healthy most of the year so that somewhat negates his upside to a degree. so the range of possible outcomes is wider than normal here. if the injury thing rears its ugly head, he could be a waste of a free agent pick. while I dont think that comes to pass, it needs to be taken into account in the risk evaluation.

The GM and Coach have said this a few times.
This morning they followed up the Nuk trade by wrecking the best ILB duo they've ever had.
Gray has never played and was called out in camp for desire. Ernest Jones was a supposed steal at the time since he was only 24 and they traded a sixth round 2025 pick IIRC to get him.

When Gray was activated I did post in the IDP forum that I expected a trade and I've long mentioned where is the spot for Gray now?

With former starters on the PS and converted safety James Williams having a great camp, their depth at ILB is too much and begs for a trade.

Against Buffalo, once Jones got injured, Allen completed multiple passes over the middle. Gibbens is a highly intelligent player but slowish and Allen was smart enough to recognize and attack that sub.
In the same game, his former seventh round tackle that's been awful for a curious start. He was awful and then got injured. Some guessed the seventh rounder was starting because the GM insisted.

I do not think the GM survives this. I think this was akin to him falling down grabbing onto things.
Nuk may be upsetting but this ILB trade is highly foolish to possibly save face over a bad pick. It's already been said that Baker(the return of the trade) may be released.

The GMs record is one game off (bye/schedule) than the Panthers- the worst team in football during that span. He already cleaned house and I do not believe NFL GMs are afforded the opportunity to clean house again two years later. I believe they get fired and if another house cleaning needs to happen and then it's with another new GM.

You did. It's clear.
Thanks for the apology though.

The GM and Coach have said this a few times.
The take I said I think you’re wrong on is whether this is another bad Titans team. The names on the door change but other than losing Henry (although I do like pollard) there doesn’t appear to be much change.

This is a particularly dbaggy post. Dying to know if you would have checked in about your masterful acquisition of DHop a few days ago had he not be traded by the deadline.

Bri is awesome. Just wanted to go on record with that. My go-to person for shaping my opinion on Titans related stuff. Sports is gonna sports and absolutely nothing is 100% for certain. We gather and form opinions best we can.
