Funny that certain Philly fans have their panties in such a bunch in this thread.
Eagles fans who don't like Jackson should be happy he's no longer on the team but taking parting shots at a guy who produced for your team at a relatively high level for 6 seasons comes across as petty. And the barbs at the Redskins organization and fan base are all well and good. But IMO they seem equally as petty and juvenile.
People are liking the post but I think for the wrong reasons. IMHO all you did was uncover the disconnect with what's been going on in this thread.
The Eagles fans who dislike Jackson ARE happy he's no longer on the team, that part is correct. Everything after that is being taken completly the wrong way by you, and a lot of other here. These aren't parting shots. These are people telling you what to expect. Like having a hot girlfriend and you know she's a little off, has some crazy #### with her and you break up with her only for her to start seeing someone you dislike. You're the new guy who was oblivious to anything until she ended up in your life. You thought you had this great woman, married her, only to start hearing from everyone just how bad she was. You can only do one thing at this point--defend her and your decision to propose and hope it doesnt happen to you.
These arent jealous/petty/juvenille/hater comments...not even close actually.
Maybe Jackson learns from everything that has happened to him and has a Cris Carter type of turnaround. It's happened before. All we can do now is wait and see.
Ok, so all of the pot shots taken at Jackson, the Redskins organization, and the fans, many of which are followed by lmao emoticons are just friendly PSAs to the fans of a division rival on "what to expect?" Sure.....
As a Redskin fan, I expect Jackson to produce on the field
similar to how he has over the past 6 seasons when he was THE best in division big play WR in the league. And I expect him to open up the field and create opportunities for others on the offense. I expect this based on watching him play his entire career, including several torchings of the Skins.
I really couldn't care less what your perspective is on what I should expect beyond that or the off the field stuff. It's based mostly on anonymous sources and peoples opinions. And unless you, bigboy, are a member of the Eagles organization then your OPINION on what to expect is just that, and not worth much to me unless it was written on a fresh roll of toilet paper.
IMHO, the negatives on Jackson are being greatly overstated as is the whole team cancer mantra being thrown about. The guy was such a team cancer that the Eagles made the playoffs in 4 of the 6 seasons he was on the team and he was the leading WR on a team that won the division last year with a rookie HC and an unproven QB. Does the guy have some maturity issues to work on? Sure, but I could really care less as long as he produces on the field. A "Cris Carte type turnaround" is not needed because, as far as I know, Jackson does not have a severe alcohol and cocaine problem.
So I don't think I, or the people who liked my post, got anything wrong. We just have very different opinions and perspectives on the situation.
Just out of curiosity, were people really putting "Desean Jackson" and "elite" or "best in the league" in the same sentence before last season? I mean, '11 & '12 were pretty average if not poor. He's always been fast, but "best in the league" big play WR?
I'm not sure what category people were putting Jackson in before last year.
When I said "best in division big play WR in the league" I'm simply referring to the fact that since 2008 Jackson has the most receptions and TDs over 30 yards of any WR in the NFL against in division opponents.
ETA- Below is a link and some editorial comments from some random guy on the internet. The stats are the stats though.

Here’s a look at the most TDs of 50 yards or more since 2008.
DeSean Jackson… 18
Chris Johnson… 14
Jacoby Jones… 13
Calvin Johnson… 12
Adrian Peterson, Mike Wallace… 10
Victor Cruz, Pierre Garcon, Percy Harvin, Jordy Nelson, DeAngelo Williams, 9
Jamaal Charles, Devin Hester, Greg Jennings, Darren Sprole, 8
So, we can score one for Jackson as
the top big play TD threat in the NFL over the past six years. Looking back at the history of the NFL (since the merger of 1970), Jackson holds on spot as one of the top big play TD threats. Since 1970, Jerry Rice holds the number one spot with 38 TDs of 50 yards or more. Looking at the top 15 players on this list, there are two active players… Devin Hester, and, you guessed it, DeSean Jackson. Hester has 22, Jackson 18.
Here are the players with the most TDs of 50 yards of more since 1970.
Jerry Rice, 38
Randy Moss, 32
Terrell Owens, 28
Steve Smith, 24
Ken Burroughs, Joey Gallaway, Devin Hester, 22
Mel Gray, Stanley Morgan, Santana Moss, Freddie Solomon, 20
James Lofton, Eric Metcalf, 19
Willie Gault, DeSean Jackson, 18
