WR DeSean Jackson (1 Viewer)

Probably an awful idea but I’m starting Desean over Humphries. Ceiling over floor call I guess, amidst bye week crunch. Again, fully aware I will probably regret this. But this theoretical upside is the whole reason I still (seemingly) waste a roster spot on Desean in 2020 in dynasty, so. Here we go.

DeSean Jackson was forced from the Eagles' Week 7 win over the Giants with a right leg injury.

This one was brutal. For some reason tasked with returning a critical late punt — a poor idea in light of D-Jax's 2019-20 injury woes — Jackson got lit up by a helmet-to-helmet hit and then seemed to injure both his knee and ankle. He could put no weight on his right leg before being helped to the sideline and carted to the locker room. Active for the first time since Week 3, Jackson was not heavily involved on offense before going down, hauling in 3-of-5 targets for 34 yards as Travis Fulgham dominated looks in the Eagles' receiver corps. D-Jax certainly did not look like he will be ready for Week 8 against the Cowboys, and there is a real chance he will be headed to injured reserve. The 33-year-old just can't stay healthy at this point of his career.

Don't see how anyone can start this guy anymore. He hasn't stayed healthy for a full season in what, 5 years? Time to put him out to pasture....

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Eagles believe DeSean Jackson has a high-ankle sprain.

Jackson is expected to be out "several weeks." He'll likely be placed on injured reserve, sidelining him out for at least the next three games. High ankle sprains typically come with 4-6 week timetables. Barring setbacks, Jackson should have a chance to return later this season.

At this point, I may drop him in dynasty. I don't see him being helpful with these injury and his age. Of course, depends on what else is out there.
I’m cutting him for sure. Even have more valuable fliers on my IR at this point, it’s nice to be free of him (this is not commentary on his injury, it really sucks for him and I liked him a lot in Washington) after two years of feeling like if I cut him, he’d eventually be started against me as a Hail Mary option and blow up or something. I’m free!

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports DeSean Jackson (ankle) is expected to miss 6-8 weeks.

Jackson has a non-displaced ankle fracture. It's worse than the high-ankle sprain that was originally reported. Jackson is expected to avoid surgery and is "highly motivated" to make it back this year. Returning in Week 14 would be a best-case scenario for Jackson.

Eagles placed DeSean Jackson (ankle) on injured reserve.

As expected. Jackson is eyeing a 6-8 week absence before being re-evaluated. There's still a chance he returns for any postseason games if Philadelphia is able to clinch the NFC Least. Travis Fulgham and, soon, Jalen Reagor will remain the team's boundary wideouts in the interim.

Eagles designated DeSean Jackson (ankle) to return from injured reserve.

It opens his 21-day practice window, allowing him to be activated for game days (if healthy enough) before the end of the year. Jackson actually started running routes at practice last week and could be eyeing a return in the regular season finale if the Eagles take down the Cowboys on Sunday. As it stands, Philadelphia can only qualify for the postseason with a division title.

Eagles activated WR DeSean Jackson (ankle) from injured reserve.

Jackson returned to practice this week and has been cleared to play Sunday against the Cowboys. His role figures to be limited after spending the last eight weeks on IR.  Getting Jackson's speed back in the lineup should open up the Eagles' offense. The Eagles need to win out and get help from Washington and the Giants to win the NFC East.

Eagles released DeSean Jackson.

He confirmed as much in a recent Instagram post. The move won't be official until the new league year begins on March 17, in which the organization will then take on $5.8 million in dead money while saving $4.857 million against the cap. Jackson's return to the team was forgettable as he tallied just 23 catches for 395 yards and three touchdowns across eight games the past two seasons. Plagued with injuries ahead of his age-34 season, Jackson should still garner interest on the market as a rotational deep threat.

Rams signed WR DeSean Jackson to a one-year contract.

The terms of the contract haven't been released yet but it's not likely that Jackson was given a lot of money by the cash-strapped Rams. Jackson is a dynamic athlete when healthy but that hasn't been the case in years. The last time he logged a full 16-game season was in 2013. Despite the nagging injuries, he has still managed to lead the league in yards per reception three times since that last healthy season. The last time the speedy receiver topped 1,000 yards was during his three-year stint in Washington. Unsurprisingly, those were the three seasons Rams HC Sean McVay served as Washington's OC. With Brandin Cooks gone and Van Jefferson amounting to little as a rookie, the Rams were in serious need of someone who can break defenses with speed. Jackson fills that role nicely and will get more quality looks downfield than his predecessors with Matthew Stafford under center. If Jackson can stay healthy, he'll be in the ideal situation to jumpstart his once impressive career at the age of 34.

2021 Outlook:

Late round flyer, early cut while he’s nursing a hammy, pick him up when he goes off for 5-122-1 first bye week, hold him while he puts up a string of duds, cut him again after a goose egg, watch someone else pick him up as a desperation play, then he miraculously puts up 4-95-1 to beat you week 11, declared out for the season with a sports hernia the next day.

:confetti:

Is this guy worth taking space at the end of your roster in a best ball format? I've heard little to nothing about him this preseason. Is he even healthy?

DeSean Jackson caught three of five targets for 120 yards and a touchdown in the Rams' Week 3 win against the Bucs.

Jackson tormented Tampa defenders throughout, somehow -- at the tender age of 34 -- speeding past players a decade younger. His hefty stat line could've been heftier if Matthew Stafford's arm hadn't been hit on a first half deep shot to Jackson, who had out-run his coverage only to watch the football land ten yards short of its target. His 75-yard score was capped off by his legendary saunter into the end zone paint -- a new sight for fresh faced zoomers but a familiar one for seasoned, grizzled fantasy managers. The nature of Jackson's targets will make him a highly volatile weekly fantasy option. He's a swing-for-the-fences play next week against Arizona.

DeSean Jackson caught 1-of-3 targets for six yards in the Rams' Week 4 loss to the Cardinals.

Even with nearly three quarters of trail mode, Jackson could not connect for any big plays with Matthew Stafford, who was having a shaky day with his accuracy. Through four games as a Ram, Jackson has been a feast-or-famine WR5/6 mostly leaving fantasy managers to die on the vine.

Rams waived WR DeSean Jackson.

This was expected the moment a receiver with eight catches all year requested his way out of the organization. Averaging 27.6 yards per reception in his limited time on the field this year, 34-year-old Jackson did flash vintage speed whenever given an opportunity. A fit with the Raiders makes sense following Henry Rugg's felony charge Tuesday morning.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports that seven teams are interested in WR DeSean Jackson.

Sports Illustrated's Mike Silver said Jackson had a Zoom call with the Raiders on Saturday, to which Garafolo clarified that there are seven teams interested in the veteran speedster. He is reportedly having virtual calls with teams rather than in-person visits. The Rams released Jackson at the trade deadline last week, and it probably won't take long for him to find a new home.

Raiders signed WR DeSean Jackson, formerly of the Rams.

34-year-old Jackson opts to stay close to his California roots and is signing with a Raiders team that became suddenly desperate for deep speed after Henry Ruggs' idiotic DUI decision last week. Derek Carr had been one of the better deep-ball throwers on the season headed into Week 9, but he averaged just 6.4 yards per attempt in a loss to the Giants Sunday, with only TE Darren Waller and low-aDOT slot man Hunter Renfrow to throw to in that one. Jackson should immediately see snaps, something he wasn't getting with the Rams, which led to his release.

DeSean Jackson (calf) was limited in practice Wednesday.

Jackson is coming off his second 100-yard game of the year and his first with the Raiders. He appeared on half the team's offensive plays and saw four targets. It's likely that the calf injury is simply maintenance for the 35-year-old wideout. Assuming the issue isn't serious, he'll be a boom/bust WR5 versus the Football Team.

It's really tempting to start DeSean this week against the WFT.   Jackson lives to torment his former teams.

He's my WR5 on my squad, but if you're looking for a deep sleeper, hopping on to the DeSean Jackson Revenge Tour may be an option.   Classic boom-or-bust, but when DeSean booms, he goes BOOM!!!!!

DeSean Jackson (calf) was absent from Raiders practice on Thursday after getting in a limited session on Wednesday.

A DNP after a limited is always a bad sign, but NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports it is not believed to be a serious issue. That gives WR4/5 desperados hope for Week 13, but we would never take anything for granted with a player with Jackson's injury history. Hopefully we get a good sense of his status by Friday's final injury report. D-Jax has gone a long way toward stabilizing the Raiders' Henry Ruggs-less back end.

Speaking after missing Thursday's practice, DeSean Jackson described his injury as a "calf spasm," and is optimistic it is "not too serious."

It sounds like Jackson is expecting to play against Washington, but considering his injury history, we are going to need something close to a full practice/full confidence from the coaching staff on Friday. If D-Jax does go, he will have some low-end, big-play reliant WR4 juice in a solid matchup.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports DeSean Jackson (calf) is expected to play in Week 13 against Washington.

Jackson noted that the issue was "not too serious" earlier in the week. He was held out of practice Thursday but returned to a limited session the next day. Jackson topped 100 yards for the first time as a Raider last week and that coincided with his snap share rising to 48 percent. As the most explosive piece of a weapon-deficient Las Vegas offense, Jackson enters Week 13 as a boom/bust WR4.

DeSean Jackson said he is considering retirement, but that he would play in 2022 if connected with an elite quarterback.

“If the right situation calls, a great quarterback — not just a good quarterback,” Jackson said. He went on to name the Chiefs, Browns, Broncos and Packers. “We’ll see for sure." Elsewhere in the interview, Jackson did sound worn down by a marathon career that has taken him all over the NFL and country. Although he is now 35 years old, Jackson's elite speed still shined through on his limited 2021 usage in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. He would make sense as a role player for a contending team.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh said that DeSean Jackson would "likely be active" Monday.

Jackson probably doesn't need to be rush-added in any leagues, but he's capable of making a fantasy living on one catch. He probably profiles best as a boom-bust DFS option on the showdown slate this week, but he has some FLEX upside and could be worth starting if you're in a bye week crunch.

Ravens elevated WR DeSean Jackson from the practice squad.

Head coach John Harbaugh said late last week that Jackson would "likely be active" for the team's Monday night tilt against the Saints. Having been with the Ravens for nearly three weeks, Jackson should be very familiar with the Ravens' playbook, but the team could ease him in for his first game of the 2022 season. The veteran wideout displayed his explosive playmaking ability during his age-34 season last year with the Rams and Raiders, averaging a career-high 22.7 YPR. It goes without saying that only the most desperate of fantasy managers would start Jackson in their season-long lineups, but he would make for a fun dart throw in single-game DFS contests. The Ravens also elevated wide receiver Binjimen Victor from the practice squad.

Ravens signed WR DeSean Jackson to the active roster.

Jackson was elevated from the practice squad for the third time in Sunday's win over the Broncos, leaving the Ravens with little choice to either sign him to the 53-man roster or release him to waives. The veteran receiver still has plenty of speed to burn, having caught 5-of-8 targets for 100 yards on the season, but is playing well-behind Devin Duvernay and Demarcus Robinson. Despite being permanently added to the 53-man roster, Jackson can be left off the fantasy radar at this time.

Feels like this dude been around as long as Brady. I still remember buying NCAA Football '09 with him on the cover.....that was on PS2 lol.

Ah, so that is why so many college players lately have been dropping the ball before crossing the goal line. It was to honor the soon-to-be retiring DeSean Jackson!
