No news yet today....last news is from Friday...looks promising, but still questionable.

Quarterback Matthew Stafford and receiver Calvin Johnson have made "a lot of progress" in their recoveries from knee injuries and will be game-time decisions Sunday when the Lions play St. Louis, Detroit coach Jim Schwartz said Friday.

The Lions' local TV show is on at 1130, so there should be something known then. I doubt anything will be known before that time.

From Yahoo Sports (and I think that came from Rotowire):

ESPN reports that coach Jim Schwartz expects Johnson (knee) to start Sunday against the Rams. However, Johnson seems less optimistic about his own chances, MLive.com reports. "Just trying not to overwork it. I don't want to mess it up more than it is," Johnson said after Friday's practice. "It's a game-time decision."

Recommendation: MLive calls Johnson's chances of playing Sunday "diminishing" after Johnson's practice workload decreased from Thursday to Friday. That stands in stark contrast to the optimistic ESPN report, and we don't expect to have any type of resolution on this one until the inactive list is released on Sunday. Thankfully, the Lions play in the early slate of games, so you'll have time to adjust your lineup accordingly.

Tweeted last night from Chris Mortensen...

For all those who have asked, my educated guess  is don't count on Calvin Johnson tomorrow. Check back on SC & Sunday NFL Countdown.

Latest Tweet from Schefter.

Adam_Schefter

Jim Schwartz said he expects both to play. RT @johnnyaguilera: @Adam_Schefter what about calvin johnson and matt stafford?

Latest from RotoWorld. It cites FoxSports as the source and if it's John Cznarcki or whatever his name is, I'd still be careful here. His Sunday morning speculation is notoriously awful.

Updating previous reports, Calvin Johnson (knee) is expected to start against the Rams on Sunday afternoon.

Johnson was limited throughout the week in practice, along with QB Matthew Stafford. Megatron is a must-start against the 25th ranked Rams' pass defense, and it also looks like Stafford will play. Both players' statuses had been up in the air all week.

That is based on Czarnicki's comment (speculation). There has been nothing from the Lions as of this post.

I saw this on Twitter:

John Clayton says Calvin Johnson is playing. CJ already has been on field to run a little... word coming in 20-30 minutes.

Still up in the air, but we should know around noon.

Per John Niyo, Detroit News writer (via twitter):

Calvin Johnson out for today's game vs. Rams

I pretty much expect Cznarcki to get it wrong but some pretty shoddy reporting from Clayton and Schefter in expecting Calvin to play.

Mort got it right last night.

Sucks to be a Calvin owner. This was probably his best matchup of the season.

Eliminates a headache for me.

Calvin a little wimpy? Hes no Boldin

Add FoxSports and John Clayton to the list (already populated by NFL.com) of "don't believe their injury reports early on Sunday as they are willing to speculate/guess in order to potentially be heralded as the first to report a start for a questionable player".

The guy that gets alot of the Megatron targets probably ends up being Northcutt.
Gotta pickup either Northcutt or Johnson now.Somebody give me some logic around who is the better bet here. Otherwise, it's ennie meanie minie moe.Northcutt seems like the posession guy while Johnson is more of the deep guy.Need ten points in PPR. No goose egg.

I would go Johnson with Stafford starting. Northcutt seemed to be Culpepper's favorite when he started weeks 5 and 6.
