WR Driver Questionable - Will he play? (1 Viewer)

Per KFFL:

WR Donald Driver (ribs) missed practice Friday, Oct. 6, as he is still feeling discomfort in his ribs. Driver will undergo more tests on his injury and will be a game-time decision for Week 5.

Is he gonna end up the dreaded "Game time Decision"? I guess I'll sit him this week. I haven't been able to get any info on him this morning.

Packers :: WR

WR K. Robinson Could Start This Weekend

Associated Press, WFRV - link to full article

WR Koren Robinson says his upper body is aching and he's sleep-deprived after dealing with legal woes in the state of Washington. But he's ready to move into a starting role if necessary when the Green Bay Packers play the St. Louis Rams. Robinson could be pressed into full-time duty for the first time this season because top WR Donald Driver might not be available. Driver underwent tests on his injured side instead of participating in the morning practice Friday.

It's too early - we won't know until around an hour before kickoff.
I think Driver is a terrible play this week even if he does play. He is obviously hurting quite a bit with his side so one hit and he may leave the game anywayI'm starting either Travis Taylor or Mark Clayton over him

Thanks, any word if KRob will continue to return kicks. For those Fguys out there who get return yards.

It was pinned like after the post.

This is from FoxSports. Basically nothing new:

Donald Driver (ribs) will test himself in the morning (but he could be inactive).

Thank God!

It was either Driver or RSmith for me. Given RSmith's matchup, I would much rather have a banged up Driver.

Still too risky ... I'll be starting B Edwards in his place.

If he starts for the Pack he starts for me. Simple as that. Plus, the matchup is gold.

 but did clayton or anyone comment on the injury or pain and how it might limit him?
I would guess that the concern with the pain was that it might be an indicator of an undetected injury and not the pain itself. The fact that he's going to play must mean that the tests on Friday look good. So, they'll probably give him an injection of pain killers and turn him loose.I'm guessing the pain is managable and will probably not significantly limit his play.I've put him back into my lineup too...in favor of Rod Smith.

Same here. I'll take those odds given Driver's talent and the matchup. If it doesn't work out so be it but I'd rather start the talented player in a prime matchup over a much riskier option. With regard to the pain, all Clayton said was the MRI on Driver's ribs showed no major damage. So that's a positive.

I am not hearing ggod news. I don`t think Driver will play today.

I picked up K-Rob for insurance.

You've been posting this in Driver threads for the past few days but you don't back it up with anything conclusive. I'm not trying to call you out but if you're hearing something more negative share with us the info and what sources you have. Driver owners would definitely appreciate it.

Pretty sad that I have to consider playing a banged up Driver over Randy Moss
Driver hell, its a shame to have to consider playing a banged up anyone over Randy Moss."Charlie Finkelstein has two broken legs and will play in a wheelchair. Still consider him as a start over Randy Moss"

Not good news? You don't think Driver will play? I guess you know more than Clayton now? It was a good idea to pick up K Rob for insurance but Driver is a gamer and this is a matchup that is favorable for him. There is no way he sits this one out. Clayton was right on the money. Plus he has a bye next week to rest his boo boos.

My brother in law lives in Oshkosh and told me the local news did not sound positive.

I may just pass over Driver and K-Rob and plug someone else in. If Drivers tries to play and can`t go I am screwed.

According to ESPN insider John Clayton, Donald Driver appears likely to play against the Rams this morning after undergoing a precautionary MRI on his injured side Friday. It would appear the test didn't reveal any structural damage. That doesn't mean Driver will be at full speed or make it through a complete game. But as long as he's on the field, there is certainly a legitimate chance at production.Clayton also advised viewers that -- contrary to previous reporting -- Ahman Green isn't a lock to play. The veteran halfback will test his sore hamstrings in pre-game warmups before a decision on his status is made.Koren Robinson is waiting in the wings should Driver struggle or suffer a setback. Vernand Morency will cover for Green as needed. Both Robinson and Morency should see significant action either way.

Do you know what they said? That he will play and be limited?

Unless it's Larry McCarren, I wouldn't place any stock whatsoever in the local TV guys who cover the Packers. I'm not arguing this situation specifically but generally speaking. Those guys are hacks. McCarren's the only one who I would put any faith in since he's the only one who has any meaningful NFL knowledge. And he certainly has the access as the team's color commentator for the radio broadcasts.

Guess it depends on the local news source. If we're talking about a beat writer straight from Packer Central its a little different than the news guy speculating.

Nothing has been reported either way on the Pack pre-game. I'm sure he's testing is out as we type..Inactives will be out soon..

Agreed. The beat writers are much more trustworthy than the TV guys -- especially when it comes to Packer info. As I said earlier, the TV guys who cover the Packers are pretty much worthless hacks, McCarren aside.

It is obvious from "all" reports that Driver is not 100%

It sounds like he is going to try and play. What happens after that is a crap shoot.

Am I reading too much into this? They said Driver will play, they did not say Driver will start. This bothers me, should it?
