WR Emmanuel Sanders (RETIRED) (1 Viewer)

Emmanuel Sanders caught 2-of-4 passes for nine yards in the 49ers' Week 15 loss to the Falcons.

Sanders was completely overshadowed by George Kittle, who caught 13-of-17 targets and accounted for 67% of the team's receiving yards. Sanders has been effective when targeted but is at the mercy of Jimmy Garoppolo and the Niners' run-heavy offense. He's a bounceback candidate in Week 16 as long as the Rams don't deploy Jalen Ramsey on him. Sanders is a WR3.

Emmanuel Sanders caught 3-of-6 targets for 61 yards in the 49ers' Week 16 win over the Rams.

Sanders was relatively quiet with Jimmy Garoppolo proving to have an up-and-down performance, but he came up huge when it mattered most. With the game tied, 31-31, with just a couple of minutes remaining, Sanders blew by CB Jalen Ramsey and S Taylor Rapp for a 46-yard reception to set up the game-winning field goal. With George Kittle operating as the clear-cut No. 1 target in San Francisco, Sanders' box scores will be boom-or-bust. Next Sunday's matchup in Seattle will have Sanders on the WR3/4 map.

Emmanuel Sanders caught 3-of-5 targets for 38 yards in the 49ers' Super Bowl LIV defeat to the Chiefs.

Ready for Week 1 after tearing his Achilles’ tendon in Dec. 2018, Sanders got off to a hot start (16/184/2 across Weeks 1 and 2) before catching the Joe Flacco blues. He requested a trade out of Denver and landed in San Francisco, where he again hit the ground running with 11/137/2 over his first two appearances. He then picked up a rib injury that bothered him for much of the second half of the season. Sanders ended up clearing 50 yards just twice in his final eight games. Two months shy of his 33rd birthday, Sanders is headed to free agency. A tactical route runner who has maintained his quicks into his 30s and beyond what could have been a devastating Achilles’ issue, Sanders should remain WR3 relevant in 2020. His landing spot will play a part in that, of course.

(thehuddle) San Francisco 49ers impending free-agent WR Emmanuel Sanders said he hasn't thought much about next season yet but enjoyed his time with the team in 2019. 'I love the Niners organization, so we're going to see what's to happen,' Sanders said.

Analysis: Sanders had a a couple of big performances after joining the 49ers, but he was held below 50 yards in seven of his 10 games with the team, recording 25 yards or less five times. If he does return, he would be a matchup-based flex option in San Francisco's run-heavy attack.

NE signed him once to a contract that Pittsburgh matched and were in contention to get him at trade deadline before losing out to SF. Maybe third times a charm. They should have used that second round pick on him instead of Sanu.

Seems really unlikely to return to SF unless he simply loves the bay area and takes a deal heavily favored to the team. They simply don't need him.

Baltimore makes a lot of sense. NE too. He's the kind of player I'd want the Titans to sign (but I don't see that happening this year). Seahawks would be a great fit IMO. Packers? There's probably 31 teams that could use him and should be willing to pay him more than SF.  (Maybe not Tampa?)

He is an ideal fit for Patriots culture and the exact type of veteran that Brady wants.  With all 3 Packers wide receivers drafted in 2018 not excelling, Rodgers is probably also asking for the Packers to not draft any more receivers and only sign proven veterans.  Brees might be in the same boat and could use another receiver.  All 3 quarterbacks are too old to want to be a new dad.

Right - agreed on all, although I'd have the saints low on this list.

Metcalf looks good and lockett is solid so maybe Seattle isn't high on the list of teams in need, but they have the cap space (right now, I'm not entirely sure if their off season plan)

Sanders has never been a "me first, I want x-number of targets per game" kinda guy, but he couldn't have been thrilled with his lack of targets in SF, especially over the last six games there.  With their running game, Kittle, the emergence of Deebo, and a really good defense that will prevent them from being in many shootouts, his targets will always be limited if he stays with the 49ers.

Don't forget Jalen Hurd next year. Although I hope my FF league mates do.

Impending free agent Emmanuel Sanders said he's yet to engage in contract talks with the 49ers.

It's an ominous sign the organization will allow him to walk in free agency. The 32-year-old exploded in his first two games with San Francisco, totaling 11/137/2 as the team's much needed slot presence, but battled through a pesky rib injury in underwhelming with 33/436/1 receiving (including 5/71 in three postseason tilts) from Week 10 on. With Trent Taylor and Jalen Hurd expected to return in 2020, 32-year-old Sanders is undoubtedly eyeing his third destination in the last calendar year.

If I'm Baltimore I go after this guy.

I’m sure they won’t but I’d love to see Philly go after him as a transition guy and mentor for any young guys they end up drafting.

NFL Network's Jane Slater reports the Cowboys have interest in free agent Emmanuel Sanders.

The love goes both ways, as Sanders would have a chance to return to his home state of Texas if he were to sign with Jerry Jones. After losing Randall Cobb to free agency, the Cowboys are in the market for a new No. 3 receiver. The Cowboys weren't expected to be signing a player of Sanders' caliber after just signing Amari Cooper to a $100 million contract, but perhaps Sanders' market is softer than anticipated. It was reported a week ago that Sanders hadn't yet engaged in contract talks with the 49ers.

ESPN's Todd Archer said, "Based on multiple conversations I’ve had with Cowboys folks, I’d be stunned if Emmanuel Sanders ends up here."

Archer added, "Unless he would take substantially less than what we all think he will get paid. Substantially less. Don’t get hopes up." It certainly wouldn't make sense for the Cowboys to splurge on a No. 3 WR with Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup already on the squad. Sanders proved in 2019 that he's far from washed, but it remains to be seen what the market will look like for a 33-year-old WR that suffered a brutal Achilles injury as recently as 2018.

Rotoworld:

Saints signed Emmanuel Sanders, formerly of the 49ers, to a two-year, $16 million contract.

The last time Sanders took to turf in the Superdome with the Niners he hauled in 7/157/1 and threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to Raheem Mostert. The 33-year-old's next destination on the open market was beginning to look bleak, but New Orleans' pecking order behind Michael Thomas is arguably the best-case scenario as Sanders returns for his 11th season, just one year removed from a devastating Achilles' injury. Assuming a clean bill of health, the veteran slot wideout projects as the team's No. 2/3 option ahead of Jared Cook, Ted Ginn, and Tre'Quan Smith.

They keep talking about his Achilles, but he played in the playoffs didn’t he? Seems like a good place, sanders owners suddenly have a chip to work with.

Drew Brees has to be happy today, getting a valuable 4th receiver. Thomas, Kamara, Cook and Sanders will definitely provide more reception opportunities. Will Ginn be released and still use T. Smith as an occasional clear out deep route?

Jesus Christ embarrassing wealth of riches. How did these teams allow this to happen? For his effectiveness he wasn't particularly expensive. Baltimore or even Green Bay should've been falling over themselves to get him.

Read someplace last night it came down to New Orleans or Green Bay, so Green Bay at least made a good effort.

I know WR hancuff isn’t a common term, but is this guy it? If anything happens to Thomas this guy is top 5 wr right?

Not top 5 even without Thomas imo but he is being underrated on his standalone value.

New Orleans WR2 can easily be a backend top 20 WR--especially considering how well the skillsets of Brees and Sanders mesh

Big redraft value target and buy for a true contender in dynasty

With no Thomas I am thinking low WR1 is easily possible with high WR2 being a bit more likely

Post-Brees?  Color me dubious...

James Brimacombe: "Sanders played a total of 17 games in 2019 and was a player that people were afraid to draft because of the injury the year before. He outperformed expectations and finished with a respectable 66/869/5 stat line between Denver and San Francisco. My problem with Sanders heading into 2020 is that he is the WR2 in New Orleans opposite of Michael Thomas. The WR2 in New Orleans never seems to take off and drafting Sanders at his cost this season just feels very risky."

[right now he is FBG consensus WR #41]

But NOLA WR2 was not been as good as Sanders is in recent past. MT will eat, but Sanders will be a nice outlet for Brees. If anyone will suffer, it will be Cook IMO
don't see much risk.  at WR 41 his price is so low that even if he CovidOptOuted it wouldn't cripple you.

I don't see how Thomas has ridiculously high stats with Sanders around and that QB/WR improving.  I've been frustrated too many times by Sanders getting open over the years.

I just don't think it's possible Thomas has that insane volume. I've got no prob with a later first but I think taking Thomas around 5 is absurd. It was probably awesome to enjoy the ride last year, but that doesn't mean 2020 is 2019.

Sanders is too savvy.

It’s not the viable WR2 that matters. It’s the route running. Since Sanders was at Pit he has been excellent in his routes. Brees will love that all day long.

Sanders is a high end WR3 option with WR2 upside.  If he balls out he could go for something like 90 receptions for 1200 yards with 7-8 tds.  More reasonable would be like 75 receptions for 900-1000 yards with 5-6 tds.  Playing with a QB like Drew Brees in the slot will obviously make his numbers much better, and I would imagine his motivation to always be at the top of his game especially playing alongside a guy like Michael Thomas.

Definitely a good value pick this year.

I own Brees and Sanders and not sure this helps the latter that much. Kamara, Cook as primary and then Sanders, Smith. Hope I’m wrong. Definitely kills Brees
