WR Gabriel Davis, BUF (1 Viewer)

He'll end up in camp somewhere, he's dirt cheap now.
He's just not starting material but as a 4th WR for 3rd and long situations, you could do a lot worse

I can't explain his final season in Buffalo because he was on an upward trajectory prior to that and even scored 4 TD in a Playoff game as I seem to recall
Last year the Jags turned into a dumpster fire quickly, Thank God they found Superman in the Draft to rescue that franchise

I'm just pointing out that I believe there will still be another chapter of some sort here
-The End
He's unrosterable in fantasy, that's my point.

What if he signs with Cleveland?
They have nothing concrete after Jerry Jeudy
Davis had something along the lines of 45-48 rec/750-850 yds/6-7TD in '22 and '23, Bills decide they want more and they let him walk.
Same team that traded S.Diggs away with not much behind him so I'm not actually sure that Gabe is as bad as some would paint him
Jax Jags were a dumpster fire last season, yes or no?

I say YES and therefore I am willing to see where Gabe lands and possibly save my last roster spot in redraft for a guy nobody wants
He was a decent flex option or bye week filler prior to the disastrous '24 season in Jax'Ville
He has zero value right now, for sure but once he does sign or land somewhere I would anticipate his production will exceed current expectations
I have no stake in Davis so I don't care if he flops again this season but you have to at least look at what he did prior to the Jags

I'm done lookiing his way. There are many better options to speculate on. That's why I said /the end, at least for me.

I would welcome him with open arms in Dallas.

I also agree that he’s done as a relevant FF starter.
Was he ever a relevant starter? I mean, besides that one or two games a year where he blew up and good luck guessing which weeks those would be, otherwise he was garbage in his best days. Even those days are gone and quite frankly, I don't even know why we're still talking about him.

Going back to Buffalo is an interesting landing spot. They seem to like having at least 1 "big" WR on the field so I do wonder if he could get in the way of a Keon Coleman breakout. I do sort of worry that despite having a top-3 QB, there might not be a Bills pass catcher you'll ever feel good about starting.

I have two things to post that might seem contradictory but might explain the Bills’ upcoming year.

Here’s the first and it’s by a guy who works for Fantasy Points and his name is Ryan Heath.

  • Bills OC Joe Brady is arguably even worse than LaFleur in terms of limiting his WRs’ playing time. In 2023, he reduced Stefon Diggs’ route participation from 91.3% (most in the NFL) before he took over as play-caller to 83.2% (~20th) in the weeks after. In 2024, no Bills WR reached better than 71% route participation. And in all of Brady’s play calling stints since 2021 (with the Panthers from 2021 Weeks 1-12, the Bills from 2023 Weeks 11-18, and the Bills in 2024), no WR has sniffed 15.0 FPG (despite coaching Stefon Diggs and D.J. Moore). Both receivers went on to perform better for fantasy on new teams. It’s difficult to see much of a ceiling case for any of Khalil Shakir, Josh Palmer, or Keon Coleman this season. - Ryan Heath

But then this from a guy going by No Film Analysis about Khalil Shakir. I’d urge you to look at it because it explains a bit how Buffalo’s offense changed.

This. Soon as I saw this news I thought of Keon. I have Keon breaking out in year 2. Not as confident with Gabe in the mix.

They're just doing him a favor while he continues to rehab. He'll have access to the training staff etc. He isn't going to be on the field for awhile if at all this season. And by then if there is a breakout by Coleman it might be too late for him to impact it. He got passed over by like 4 other teams this is a homer favor to see if he can get healthy again.
