WR Jalen Hurd, SF (1 Viewer)

Hurd had an awkward fall and left for the locker room today. Conflicting reports on if he came back or not. Conflicting reports on if it was serious or not as well. Stay tuned.

May not be serious, but just seems like one of those guys who is made of glass.

49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said he would be "surprised" if WR Jalen Hurd didn't suffer an ACL tear at Monday's practice.

Brutal. The results of Hurd's MRI aren't back yet, but Shanahan already said he expects the 24-year-old to return in 2021. The second-year pro had been turning heads at camp after missing his entire rookie season with an injured back, but this news threatens his impact down the road after previously joining the Niners as the No. 67 overall pick. Kendrick Bourne will likely play a pivotal role from the slot in the interim with Brandon Aiyuk, Trent Taylor, Tavon Austin, Dante Pettis, and even Jerick McKinnon mixing in. All will be used until Deebo Samuel (foot) is at full strength.

49ers placed WR Jalen Hurd (ACL) on season-ending injured reserve.

As expected. Hurd will undergo season-ending surgery with an eye on returning in 2021. Kendrick Bourne will receive the first crack at Hurd's vacated 'big slot' role with Brandon Aiyuk, Trent Taylor, Tavon Austin, Dante Pettis, and even Jerick McKinnon getting involved on passing downs.

The 49ers expect WR Jalen Hurd (knee) to be ready for Week 1.

The No. 67 overall pick of the 2019 Draft, Hurd has never played a down of NFL football. He missed all of 2019 with back issues and all of last season with a torn ACL. The Niners had been hoping 6-foot-4 Hurd could play a "big slot" role. In theory, he could still be a candidate to do so, but players whose careers get off to the kind of injury starts that Hurd has experienced have extremely poor track records of ever getting on track. Hurd is a 50-50 proposition at the very end of Dynasty benches.

There are only so many years in a career.  He better start doing something soon.  He's a 25 1/2 year old rookie in my mind.

Have him on my taxi squad.  Any time he gets on the field period during his career on is a bonus in my eyes.

49ers WR Jalen Hurd (knee) is expected to avoid the active/PUP list to begin training camp.

It's great news, though Hurd will be held out of team drills for the first week and "eased" into action. The No. 67 overall pick of the 2019 draft is headed into a make-or-break year after missing all of his first two seasons. Despite the Niners' major draft investments in Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk, they are still somewhat thin at receiver, leaving an opening for 6-foot-4 Hurd to break through. Ideally, Hurd would earn snaps as a "big slot" wideout. He is worth keeping an eye on in 14-plus team leagues.

49ers WR Jalen Hurd caught 4-of-6 targets for 25 yards in Sunday's preseason finale, adding a two-yard rush.

Hurd was in the game with the starting core, as the 49ers rotated through their wide receiver depth with the starters. He took an end around handoff for 2 yards and saw six targets from Trey Lance. He caught four passes for 25 yards, while dropping a wobbly deep target and a low ball over the middle. Kyle Shanahan has called Hurd on the the team's top-six wide receivers, which gives him a good chance of making the team behind Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel, Trent Sherfield and Mohamed Sanu. Hurd looks to be competing with Jauan Jennings and Travis Benjamin to make the final roster.

NBC’s Matt Maiocco reports WR Jalen Hurd could be inactive in Week 1 against the Lions.

Hurd could be the odd man out among Niners wideouts next Sunday. Hurd has looked good in practice and the preseason, but the 49ers might opt to take it slow with him. Hurd has missed the past two seasons with injuries and has yet to play a single regular season snap. WR Jauan Jennings could potentially be the fifth wide receiver to suit up against Detroit, per Maiocco. Outside George Kittle, Brandon Aiyuk, and Deebo Samuel, it’s unlikely auxiliary 49ers pass catchers will carry any fantasy value this season.

49ers WR Jalen Hurd (knee) has been ruled out for Week 1.

This was expected after coach Kyle Shanahan said the team planned to "shut down" Hurd after his latest knee injury. The 49ers are holding off placing Hurd on IR for now. The 2019 third-rounder isn't a lock to be active when healthy.

49ers placed WR Jalen Hurd on injured reserve with a knee injury.

Hurd's knee has been acting up all summer. He was able to make the initial 53-man roster, but coach Kyle Shanahan already hinted I.R. was likely for Hurd. He'll miss at least the first three games of the season.
