WR Jalen Royals, KC (1 Viewer)

Ian Cummings
This is some legit short-area twitch and explosion from Jalen Royals in the RAC phase.

Combined with his play strength and contact balance through arm tackles, this is where he'll make a lot of his money.

Another example of Jalen Royals just making it look easy with the little details:

- Stems the nickel DB to threaten the fade
- Explodes off the jab-step into the post route
- Works back to the ball with a slight angle adjustment
- Diamond hands, catch secured through contact

Considering this guy is in just about everyone's top 6 for rookie WRs.... this is an awfully short player thread for these msg boards. I say this because he feels overlooked in a lot of podcasts/articles I've been consuming on the rookies as well. Feels like he might be a value if he continues flying under the radar. Of course a splashy landing spot in the draft could change all that.

Out of 12 different rankings I have seen, none have him listed as top 6. But all have him listed between 7 and 13, with an average of 9.4.

Jalen Royals is the Most Underrated WR in the 2025 NFL Draft🗣️

Austin Abbott
Jalen Royals Healthy 12 Game Pace?

➖94 Receptions
➖1,438 Yards
➖10 TD’s

Reminder that he’s just ONE season removed from scoring 15 TD’s..

➖6’0, 205 lbs
➖3.00 YPRR

Jalen Royals was on pace for 29 Missed Tackles Forced..

The only WR with more?

Luther Burden III (30)..

Warren Sharp
Jalen Royals to the Chiefs 🔥🔥

#1 fastest 10-yard split in this WR class & dominated man coverage

Andy Reid & Patrick Mahomes will love him

Jalen Royals will be a PROBLEM with the Chiefs 👀

No QB benefits more from yards after catch than Patrick Mahomes, and he just got arguably the best RAC receiver in the 2025 Draft 💨

@BnbFootball
Out of 432 draft-eligible D1 prospects, Jalen Royals was:
+ 2nd in receiving yards per game
+ 5th in yards after contact per catch (minimum 600 yards)
+ Top 10 in yards per route run

Shocked he made it out of Day 2. And to the CHIEFS.

I thought he would have gone earlier, but you have to like the landing spot. With the uncertainty of Rice and I don't think Brown is for long in KC, this guy can be a factor in dynasty if you're patient.

RD 4 | PK 133 - Chiefs: Jalen Royals WR, Utah State

Royals earned the 6th-highest NGS overall draft score among wide receivers in this year's class (82), and was one of five WRs to eclipse 75+ in both production and athleticism. When the Chiefs turned in their card, Royals was the last remaining player on the board with an overall score over 80.

Royals will join a Kansas City receiver room that lost both DeAndre Hopkins (BAL) and Mecole Hardman (GB) this offseason.

Great late round value roll. No guarantee Rice is the same player coming off an injury (plus the off-field issues). Pat has said he wants this offense to be more of explosive, Royals is a nice addition to the mix.

Plus I don’t think Hollywood Brown will be around much longer, or any other geezer they have or will have.

I feel like nobody is excited about players going to KC anymore
I think that will change this year actually. Rice, Worthy, Brown and now Royals. Plus maybe Kelce will actually get in shape this year and be able to run a route longer than 5 yards consistently.

I think Mahomes and the Fat Man get back to the KC style of play pre 2023. Mahomes is in better shape and they have the weapons. Bought Mahomes in a couple leagues at what I consider relatively cheap. Big season coming up

Baseball has been very good to me.

Landing spot took the wind out of my sails for 2025 season. Had 25% ownership in pre-NFL draft contests in the 19/20 round. zone beater with great speed.

If Hollywood tweaks his pinky toe, Royals will be a sneaky good play against teams who play more zone than man coverage. Something to tuck away for daily play later in the season.

The physical similarities between Royals and Rice are striking.

According to their nfl.com draft profiles:

Royals is 1 inch shorter, 1 pound heavier, same sized hands, but has 2.5 inch shorter arms

Royals nearly 1/10th faster 40, same 10 yard split, but Rice out verticaled him by 5 inches

He’s got upside but needs time to be coached up a bit within the offense .. Read somewhere he lined up on the left side like around 95% of his routes in college but he definitely jumps off of the tape .. Looks like a Rice clone.

Went 2.12 in our draft. I didn't expect him to go that early (IDP draft). I think it was a savvy move by the guy who got him, actually. I really like this guy, and this has nothing to do with Rashee Rice's impending suspension because I expect Worthy and Brown and others to be the guys who step up in Rice's absence.

Non-zero chance this guy emerges into a decent role, worth the cost of admission. If Rashee continues to be ridden by the dum-dums, Royals could be a huge benefactor. I do not put a lot of faith in Marquise at this stage.

100% agree. Some chance he's the #2 in the near future, he's also just really good. I think he'd have been a 2nd round pick if he'd played for a better school (Utah State ran a WR unfriendly offense, making his numbers even more impressive) and if he hadn't gotten hurt.

If KC is serious about getting the downfield passing game going again, he could be a sizeable part of it, and Hollywood hasn't been able to stay on the field since he left Baltimore.

Royals has been a dynasty target of mine in drafts anywhere after pick 20, especially now that Dylan Sampson isn't slipping through the cracks given the Judkins drama. Lots of Royals/Giddens shares for me.

I drafted him in 3 of 5 rookie drafts back in May in FFPC. 3.06 x2 and 4.01 in the other. I have high hopes for this guy. I was always skeptical of Rice not getting punished this year and I am still skeptical of the low number of games that get thrown for a suspension. I am @ 4-6 games for his suspension.

I also liked the player a whole bunch and I believe the Chiefs will start airing it out again this year.

🤞

Rice's suspension should really help his shot to have a roll out of the gate. Opportunity is big for rookies and he'll have his shot.

Possibly.

Or maybe it’ll be more Hollywood, Worthy, Keller and RBs. Hard to say with a veteran team looking to win it all again.

I’m taking a cautious approach. I’m probably out in redraft. I do like him as a dynasty prospect.

What if Jalen Royals is just better than Rice? Maybe not initially but crazier things have happened. It took Rice nearly his whole first year to get going.

That crash causin', scene leavin' douchebag is about to get Wally Pipped! Sign me up.

I’d like to have more shares. Those of you in my leagues, offer me some reasonable trades if you’re not a Royals guy, but drafted him late anyway.

This sounds a lot like wishful thinking.

Reading the last page of this leads me to believe Royals is going to be wildly over drafted and wildly disappointing to a lot of folks.

I think it is the cost to acquire/opportunity of upside ratio that is enticing.

Yes I gathered.

And I’m not sure that legendary upside will manifest. And if the cost rises because people believe it will, that could be a costly mistake.

We’ve seen it many, many times before.

Chiefs have Worthy, Juju, Hollywood, Kelce, and some scrubs like Brownlee & Thornton. Plus they throw to the RBs.

Let’s say Rice gets 6 games. Royals would have to leapfrog all that veteran talent to be relevant for a month and a half. For a dude who was a late bloomer in college & a 4th round pick. 🤔

Maybe I’m just more pessimistic than y’all. Sorry to pee in your Cheerios - by all means, continue with the love-fest.

I don’t hold Royals, just think he is worth the cost of admission at this point. Rice seems like a dum-dum (his mom similar), even once Rice is back there is a chance he finds more trouble. Never mentioned “legendary” upside, but I think it is silly to say Royals doesn’t present any.
