  • 6 games last year off memory I think like 89 snaps or something?
  • he def participated in a full offseason up until the 2nd preseason game - he was around for OTAs, minicamp, TC
  • I don't really see any evidence he has a bad attitude, other than fans posting stuff about reading his body language. The way vets like CJGJ and David Montgomery talk him up, I don't get the sense he's a problem at all - the whole team knows he is super talented. ARSB said the other day "Unless you run a 4.2 you better back up trying to cover him."
It's been a really unfortunate start to his career. I think he's a good kid, not exactly savvy but loves ball. It's a genuine shame bc he has as much talent as anyone. But there is no recent precedent for a high draft pick WR doing literally nothing for 22 games and then suddenly becoming a superstar.

They're not giving up on him anytime soon. But they're also not going to coddle him. If he wants targets, it starts with lining up correctly and running routes the correct depth and catching balls that hit you in the hands. If he doesn't get it, oh well, it is what it is.

This team is going places with or without him. Would be awesome if he started contributing but it's not the end of the world if he never does.

Again, I think he's a good kid, but he just doesn't seem to have a knack for picking up stuff or working on details. On this team, playing for this coach, details are everything. If you keep missing assignments it doesn't matter where you got drafted, how much they paid you, or what athletic gifts you possess - he'll either get it (and I hope he does) or he'll be eventually wind up playing somewhere else.

What you said pretty much encapsulate's his carreer thus far. I was hoping for at least a few catches for maybe 30 to 50 yds last week. In this offense I think that was plausible. But for me Cinderella starting to turn into a pumpkin. I've held on to him since last year. I have 2 guys out for multiple weeks on my bench. I hope I'm wrong but he could end up being the Zach Wilson of wr's.

We have both been doing this for too long going from :bag: to :clap:. Gibbs and Jamo are elite talents and it's just a matter of time for it to translate to the field and form Lions Voltron. I think it happens before the bye week. People are going to be like this isn't even fair, how did the Lions get this good.

It is all right there in front of them for the taking. But every week it is a challenge to win one game. Haven't won the NFC North since....oh, right, never. Last won the old NFC Central (pre-expansion) 32 years ago. They are good, but I get why some folks still give it the side eye and say "oh, OK, let's see what happens."

At least we've gotten past the "isn't that cute, Detroit won a road game" stage; it's a measure of progress the national perception has evolved from "hey look at biting kneecaps head coach guy" to wait a second these guys are going places.
 
He’s def about that life. $170K custom Trackhawk, Skully Gang clothing, weekends in Vegas. He’s also a 22 y.o. who loves ball and comes from a good family. He’s more than capable of “getting it” but we haven’t seen it to date.

Why’s that? His lost season due to the ACL was baked into the price you got him at. What surprised me was ARSB showing that his 6-game run at the end of 2021 was indeed sustainable the following year and that he’s the real deal at WR1. I took Jamo in 2022 with 2023 and onward in mind, not expecting him to also miss the first month to a suspension. Patience is always the key in dynasty, which is hard to do when you want production from your guys yesterday. If anything I’m suffering because my WR room is trash and I wish I could get help from Jamo now, but I believe in him for the long haul.

Good points there, and honestly, good advice for all Jamo owners (myself included) to maybe take a step back from the ledge..

I appreciate the feedback, and in review, I didn't elaborate very well in the previous post. Some of the details that were baked into my prior statement are the diverging points of; Campbell's no BS coaching style and the lack of maturity Jamo has displayed to date, reports of questionable hands in practice ( I know, I know, Chase dropped passes in shorts too), and, this, coupled with the fact that the combo of Reynolds / Raymond have been producing well enough to date in his stead. Add all this up and the staff may not feel pressed to interject a guy into the mix just for the sake of continuity, regardless of his draft capital. It's almost getting to a point where Jamo will need to be nearly flawless in his limited opportunities in order to gain a foothold moving forward. Not ideal for a 1st round investment.

For now. If Jamo can get it together that will create a different dynamic and target shares. QB"s are loyal to a point but talent takes precedence. If Jamo gains his trust you will see some fireworks. But there lies the rub. We've Been in the " if " phase quite awhile. Hopefully that changes soon.

Williams only played 16 snaps. That should be doubled soon.
 
Nothing he does looks natural to me, hopefully that improves over time. As long as he can be a consistent threat down the field it will be a huge bonus for opening things up in the short and intermediate routes. Good to see him make a contribution though.

I agree. When I watch him play nothing does look natural.

Williams will never be a St. Brown type of WR. But what I am looking for out of him eventually is to be a Deshaun Jackson type of WR. That is who he reminds me of.
 
Bit of one trick pony. It’s a world class trick. It has huge value. But literally hasn’t shown any ability to catch a crosser or run a dig or slant or anything nuanced. Super fast and everything else looks like a guy who hasn’t developed his repertoire.

Like the Will Fuller comp best case scenario. Don't like Mike Wallace one. Wallace was a durable 200 lb speedster. Jameson feels like Fuller or maybe even Desean Jackson if he's lucky. I'm guessing underperforming is his future.

Yeah I think you’re right on about that. Both Fuller and DeSean had trouble staying available. But HFS were they a problem when they were in the game. Teams have to make sure they have help over the top or it’s torch city.

No offense gents but I've had him on my squad quite a long time. I certainly hope he becomes more like a young OBJ type. ObJ didn't play thr 1st 4 games his rookie year. But his first game in the first half he caused 2 pass interference penalties on deep throws. The defense wasn't prepared for his blazing speed. I'll take that comparison gladly. 😆

OBJ was a natural receiver when he came into the league. Jamo looks like the track star kid the high school football coach convinced to come out and try football. But, speed kills. And honestly as long as he can threaten deep it will help the offense.

  • this was an incompletion but hang with me a second
  • check out quickly Jamo stops - DB keeps on going, massive separation
  • check out when Goff is throwing - this is an anticipation route, ball is coming out before Williams stops and cuts inside on a hinge route
  • now it falls incomplete for a couple reasons 1) Jared is under duress, and 2) Jameson has terrible spacing here, he's too close to the sideline
  • now this is the kind of stuff they can correct, get Jamo off the boundary so he's at the correct depth, but that shows a lot of trust on Goff's part that's making this anticipation throw
  • but that talent - to be able to stop that quickly, gather and cut on a dime - that can't be taught, that's his natural ability
two plays later he went right back to him on 3rd and 10 for the 45 yard bomb for a TD

I don’t recall seeing a receiver looking that far behind on each shoulder and then making the catch before. Looked like he went 330 out 360 degrees on that one
 
Calling jamo a one trick pony or unnatural seems odd. The kid is smooth as silk. He can blow by you deep with his unmatched top end speed. He can stop on a dime. He can start on a dime. He cuts well. When he has the ball, he knows how to avoid defenders and wait for blocks. He hands are not great, but they are not exactly stone hands neither. He adjusts well to the ball. Jamo has a lot of tricks, and he show cased several already in his 6 career touches.

Brother he’s literally dropped every catchable crosser thrown at him last year season or this one.

But look at the links I posted 2-3 up from this. I will concede his route running - which rn is pretty bad, he doesn’t even line up right or get the right depth - has seriously good potential. There is raw material there that can be shaped into greatness.

But that’s where we are at. Potentially. Knock it off with the ludicrous bravado. He is NOT the most explosive Wr in the game, he isn’t something the NFL has never seen. We’ve seen boatloads of fast guys who never learned the nuances of the craft for the position.

Big fan of Jamo, I’m on the same side as you. It never feels like it though, bc you’re so far out on a limb. Would you please just a acknowldge he’s a guy with five (5) career catches who might one day be good. Look what I got here in my back pocket

We aren’t there yet, but it’s pretty exciting watching him grow.

We’ve seen so many guys with Uber talent who just never got it. You could name a couple what-might-have-beens from the Titans Wr corps over the years.

I’m lucky to be on an 18x12 (+2 IR) redraft; kind of rare to be jammed up by byes so I can be patient letting ride the bottom of the roster.

May put him him a WR3 this week. Critical matchup & with big play bonuses he’s perfect for our scoring system.

OTOH totally get people who are out on him completely. Same way I’ve been out on Toney fm day 1 and his 10-189 game his rookie year didn’t sway me.

We’ve seen so many guys with Uber talent who just never got it. You could name a couple what-might-have-beens from the Titans Wr corps over the years.

I’m lucky to be on an 18x12 (+2 IR) redraft; kind of rare to be jammed up by byes so I can be patient letting ride the bottom of the roster.

May put him him a WR3 this week. Critical matchup & with big play bonuses he’s perfect for our scoring system.

OTOH totally get people who are out on him completely. Same way I’ve been out on Toney fm day 1 and his 10-189 game his rookie year didn’t sway me.

I just...I keep reminding myself to at least give the kid a year to adjust.
He shines. Ya see a play n that talent as he should. There's like nothing else other than one play a game but it is there.

Quote again but...Tillman and Hyatt are wow talents. They're not Chase n Jefferson but top prospects in another era type height n speed and all.
They've stunk.
Hyatt will absolutely burn someone when he turns on the jets and I'll get excited but he hasn't done squat otherwise.
I've got both them and Jamo on one dynasty team and I think they help me be patient w Jamo.
 
I feel like if you drafted him in dynasty you knew you'd have to be patient. Personally, I was hoping they'd sit him the entire year to get his knee 120% before he took the field. The gambling suspension sucked, but he's about where I thought he'd be when I took him last year. Way, way too early to give up. This thread makes me think he might be a buy low in some leagues. His ceiling is still best WR in the league imho.
