WR Jayden Reed, GB (2 Viewers)

From Matt Harmon at Reception Perception. Normally I don't give away freebies, but maybe this will boost demand for the product. If it's too much, I'll take it down per request. I subscribe to Reception Perception and it's worth it when investing in receivers for dynasty.

Harmon: The more I’ve charted Jayden Reed, the more I’d like to see him featured in the Packers offense. He was one of my favorite prospects and his game is translating to the NFL field. There have been some growing pains here – some route depth and timing issues – which isn’t too shocking for a rookie but his 77.8% success is still solid. Reed has thrived against man coverage. His 78.6% success rate is astounding and is demonstrative of an explosive and detailed technician. I’m such a fan of his route running, especially when working the deep and intermediate areas. Reed hasn’t faced much press but he’s won all four of the reps I charted across four games. The Packers would benefit by making Reed the primary of this offense, as he’s their lone consistent separator.
I've really started listening and following all things Harmon over the past two years and really enjoying having him in my rotation to the point I was going to break my "don't pay for fantasy stuff cause there's so much good free content out there" and get his RP. I wanted to do it now, but I couldn't find what the start and end dates are for his subscription. Like does the sub run from when you purchase it for a year out, or is there an end date like I could sub now, but would need to reup in May after the draft because that's when his cycle resets. You know this by any chance being a subscriber?

Also forget where I heard it, but thought he brought someone on to start analyzing and breaking down QBs similarly to what he does with receivers, which is really exciting for SF if true.

And I think from what he charted in college for Reed it also indicated he did very well against press coverage there. Think it was a larger sample than 4 reps haha.

I do not know. I'd inquire. You don't want to get left holding the bag when you need it. Just shoot him an email or something. This is from his intro: "If you have questions about Reception Perception, please contact me on Twitter @MattHarmon_BYB, or hit the contact page of my website (that felt good to write). Any comments, feedback or critiques are appreciated."

"Contact Us" was at the bottom of the page.

Allow me to also shill for Joe's product from these very boards we use. I would be neglect if I didn't say that they've helped me to a championship and a runner-up in consecutive years regarding a dynasty/IDP squad. Just immensely helpful. That's for readers who would otherwise not subscribe.

And that's enough on my end. Back to Jayden.

Talent is not the issue. He looks like Antonio Brown to me. Line him up inside, line him up outside, he's going to get open. He set a Packers franchise rookie record with 8 receiving TD. Pretty significant when you consider the amazing WRs they've had through the years.

I would expect him to be even better in Year 2. His role is safe. Let Watson, Doubs, and Wicks fight over the deep targets. This guy plays an entirely different role and isn't interchangeable the way the rest of these other dudes are. Let's get him 1,100 and 10 TD.

It seems like he only plays in 3 WR Sets. That said, they'll probably use a lot of 3 WR sets, and he's so dynamic, surely they'll try to get the ball into his hands.

I don't think he's a must start with the other options in the GB offense. But I'd feel pretty good with him as a 3rd WR

Is Reed a must start tonight?

I keep going back n forth between him or Mostert in my Flex spot.

Just don’t feel great about the affects of travel, environment, will the turf hold up.

Eagles made a lot of moves to shore up the back end, and GB may never sort out who is their alpha. Most importantly, dumped the human dumpster fire & brought in Vic Fangio.

Love the talent, took him in the 17th last year & he’s a great playmaker. Have Love as my QB1.

But probably gonna wait n see on that one.

Mostert>Reed

Interesting, I thought Reed was the guy primed to take a big step in year two. There were times in his rookie year where it seemed like the passing game was flowing through Reed and the Packers were very successful doing so. He sets a couple Packer rookie receiving records and to me appears to have the highest floor of any Packer WR week to week.

Love is getting projections of 250+ passing yard and I know he spreads the love, but to me the signs are pointing to Reed emerging as the WR1.

I thought so as well. But a lot of people are banking on Christian Watson being the number 1 target and having a breakout year. Since I own Jayden in a league, I'm hoping that's not the case.

I still believe Reed is the guy poised to step up. I am just saying that I can't point to him as a must start because his best work, by a wide margin, last year came with Watson out. His pace was around 650-6 with Watson and 1200 & 13 without Watson in the lineup.

It's too small a sample size to make any definitive conclusions before week one with a full compliment of pass catchers available. Doubs, Wicks, Watson, Musgrave, Craft and Jacobs make for a lot of competition for targets.

play maker has a 38 yard TD taken off bc offsetting penalties

first 8 plays
  • Jacobs 3 rushes 8 yards
  • Watson 2 targets 1 catch 5 yards
  • Doubsa 1 target 1 catch 18 yards 1 FD
  • penalties wipe out TD to #11
  • presnap penalty on 4th and 6 forces a punt
as anticipated, #9 and #87 are boundary receivers in 12 personnel, Reed comes in when they're in 11 formation

to be continued....

Started Reed in 1 league and sat him in another (behind Lamb, Olave, Pickens, Kirk. Won’t sit him for Kirk again unless Kirk goes off.)
