WR Josh Gordon, KC (8 Viewers)

Rotoworld:

Browns owner Jimmy Haslam expressed his disappointment with Josh Gordon's latest suspension, but said there's "no huge hurry" to release him.

Haslam added that Gordon is "immensely gifted" and that he hopes he can get his life together. Gordon isn't occupying any cap space right now, so the Browns don't have to make a decision on his future any time soon. Gordon is still only 23, so there's plenty of time for him to turn things around. Of course, he needs to prove he's grown up before the Browns even think about giving him another chance. Gordon can't even apply to be reinstated to the league until after the 2015 season.

Rotoworld:

The NFLPA has filed a non-injury grievance against the Browns for Josh Gordon's Week 17 suspension.

Gordon was suspended by the team for Week 17 after missing the Saturday walkthrough. The suspension had far-reaching consequences for him, as it meant he only played five games during the 2014 season -- and therefore didn't accrue a year toward free agency. This grievance will not have any effect on Gordon's 2015 status with the league -- he can't even apply to be reinstated until after the season.

I've been offered Gordon in my dynasty league for a 2016 3rd round rookie pick. He'd take up a roster spot all next year, doing nothing. Is he even worth that at this point?
Yes, assuming you have reasonably deep rosters. Most people are using a roster spot on someone with less potential than Gordon.
A 3rd is well worth the risk of him never playing again.
Anyone else taking a chance on Gordon? I've been offered him for Moncrief.

I traded away Gordon for Moncrief and the 2.10 rookie pick last week in a PPR dynasty. Honestly, I'm kinda relieved.

lolz, Gordon will need to get reinstated for this appeal to matter. IMO he isn't going to follow league rules long enough to get reinstated.

I traded a 3rd round pick in 2016 for him. He'll take up a roster spot all season (31 man IDP dynasty league), but I think I can handle that. Here's hoping for him playing in 2016.....

Guess I did OK then. Traded him for a pair of mid 2nds. That's going to be a long time for him to stay clean.

That's the problem with people who have others handle all of their business for them. I'm sure he never actually read the terms of the suspension.

it's amazing these people are smart enough to tie their own shoes.
Gordon's the moron. I wouldn't expect any other players to know or care about Gordon's individual situation re: the substance abuse policy. It's not their job to babysit Gordon. And it's also total BS that Gordon himself didn't know. He either thought he'd get away with it or doesn't care.

There is absolutely no chance that Gordon's agent failed to explain to him that he couldn't drink alcohol.

Rotoworld:

Josh Gordon and Terrelle Pryor are working out with Randy Moss at Moss's football academy this week.

We haven't heard much about Gordon since his indefinite suspension was handed down after last season, so it's good to hear he's still working on his craft in preparation for a hopeful return in 2017. Pryor, on the other hand, needs all the seasoning he can get as he attempts to make the transition from quarterback to receiver. Working out with one of the greatest receivers of all time can't hurt.

Apparently, Josh Gordon has not been arrested for DUI. Recent tweets suggesting new arrest apparently came from old story.

Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon arrested for DWI

Edit: The story is dated today but the content seems to be from his prior arrest.

Excerpts:

The Browns were hoping to know the outcome of Gordon's appeal by the time players report to training camp in three weeks.
The Browns did not draft a wide receiver in May, but added veteran free agents Nate Burleson, Andrew Hawkins, Miles Austin and Anthony Armstrong in the spring. They join a group that also includes two players, Charles Johnson and Travis Benjamin, who are recovering from ACL injuries.

"he's still working on his craft in preparation for a hopeful return in 2017."

2016 down ? I give him a 60% chance of eventually being reinstated next year and actually salvaging an NFL career. Working out with Moss and Pryor is encouraging.

Great buy low or late round dyno startup pick.

This was actually a good thing. He got a glimpse of the backlash he would face if he fell on his ..uh...face...again. People are chomping at the bit to say "I told you so!" "Idiot thug!" "Waste of talent" "Ha ha ha". His response is encouraging because it shows he actually gives a damn. Most people assume he doesn't care. Did you see how quick people were to drum up the insults? None of them likely offered the same public apology. Gordon did it to himself though so what can you do. Stay clean my friend. I need you next season.

I finally dropped Josh Gordon..

I could list some reasons, but most should know all of them by now..

Mind explaining why you or someone you know is still holding? ie. limitless bench space?

Id suggest posting in the Patterson or CMike thread's.. There both bound to lead to fruition at some point! (cost/mileage will vary)

This post is more about "what could have been?"...

My above post is edited: providing a clear objective.. What is the value of Gordon? If you would like to translate value in relationship to the recent crop of Rookie WR's (be my guest) Personally, I decided Funchess in the 3rd was more than enough reason to move along from Gordon..

Id just like to know the pulse of the "gurus"...

Thank-you
