WR Josh Gordon, KC (26 Viewers)

I just gave steve smith carolina for gordon and a 3rd round rookie pick in my dynasty league today. Not sure if this helps gage the value of gordon and smith or just makes me look stupid. But time will tell.

One thing i noticed from watching his last two games is that he can make nice adjustments to the ball and seems to have very good body control and hands. Like a young brandon lloyd. I figured he was worth rolling the dice especially since smitty is getting older and i have almost no shot at the playoffs right now.

Any other recent trades involving gordon?

Didn't think I was gonna start him this week, but now with Dez questionable with a groin injury I think I have to.

FWIW, I am starting Gordon with confidence in my 2 leagues this week. Upside is too great to deny.

I will probably start him over Antonio Brown this week in PPR League.. It is close however IMO, but Josh has more upside

Can someone please point me in the direction of the "I am starting Josh Gordon" support group?I have read through some very encouraging posts in this thread so I am a bit more comfortable starting him but I am still afraid of the dreaded goose egg that he could put up if he doesn't haul in those deep passes. I am in a WR bind this week and currently have him starting over Hawkins. I am curious to know if anyone else out there is rolling with this guy this week and who you guys are starting him over. Are you comfortable with starting him?
I have better options this week, so I am staying away from Gordon. Clearly, he's a prototypical boom/bust fantasy player.

Starting him with total confidence
 Made an strong effort to get Gordon in everyone of my dynasty leagues before the season started. Started him going on three straight weeks in one league, and due to byes he'll be starting for me in two more this week.

I was fortunate that he had not been signed yet. I feel like he could be a real difference maker for my beleaguered WR corps.

No one is talking what the other side thinks about going up against Josh Gordon and unfortunately I face Josh Gordon this week so I have mixed feelings.

Here are some tweets from around the league about Browns supplemental rookie pick WR Josh Gordon.

@AdamSchefter: Even with changes coming in Cleveland, looks like Browns nailed the supplemental draft, hitting on WR Josh Gordon. Big-time playmaker.

@nfldraftscout: Watched a lot of Josh Gordon yesterday. It's time for him to get max reps. Best playmaker outside of Trent Richardson. Steal for #Browns

@4for4_Josh: Josh Gordon #1 in NFL with 22.8 yards per catch. Mike Williams 2nd (not the fat one) with 22.1 yards per catch.

Browns regular draft looks good so-far. Top three picks (RB Trent Richardson, QB Brandon Weeden, RT Mitchell Schwartz) all starting and playing good. Some later picks and free agents have been forced into PT (DT John Hughes, DT/DE Billy Wynn, LB Craig Robertson, etc et el) and some are flashing. Add in supplemental selection of WR Josh Gordon and it looks like a solid over-all free agent and rookie draft class.

Browns rank #1 out of all NFL teams in terms of rookie snaps by a wide margin this year.

According to ESPN Stats & Information, the Browns rank first in number of snaps from rookies this season. Cleveland is averaging 294 snaps per game (not including special teams) from its draft class. The next-closest team is the Vikings, who average 193 snaps from first-year players ...

Not just a young team but the youngest in the league and the yute are getting playing time so its no wonder the team has struggled so-far this year. The rookies are learning on the job and showing signs of improvement.

Gordon is unlikely to be on the receiving end of bombs every week but he should improve along with the rest of the squad and means bigger and better things down the line.

From what we've heard and seen, the kid possess rare talent and he's just scratching the surface so I agree with Adam Schefter, the Browns 'nailed' the supplemental draft, and NFLdraftscout.com who said that, Gordon looks like 'a steal' for the Browns.

I'm sure many fantasy owners are pleased with him as well. Oh and it also highlights the sensational job that Browns GM Tom Heckertt has done for the team.

In a PPR Dynasty league - I traded Vincent Jackson for Josh Gordon & Jonathon Stewart today. I was a little thin at RB. Josh Gordon looks like the real deal if he can be more like Chris Carter than Dez Bryant & clean up his off the field issues.

Mohamed Massaquoi is now downgraded to OUT for Week 7 according to RW. So now there's one less WR vying for targets; some articles this week were saying Massaquoi's and Travis Benjamin's return to the field would eat into Gordon's already limited (4.3 per game) looks.

Gordon has totaled six catches for 197 yards and three touchdowns in the 3 weeks that MoMass has been out. Those touchdowns have come on plays from 71, 62 and 20 yards out. He's second only to Kendall Wright among rookie WRs in receiving yards.

Great move! Would have done that for J Stew alone, Gordon is a bonus!

Call me crazy, but at the very last possible moment, I just went ahead and started Gordon over Mike Wallace in PPR.

The Steelers offense is looking rough lately. Pouncey may be out at center, the O-line is banged up, Big Ben has another issue with an ankle, and the other day, he was quoted as calling their offensive philosophy as "dink and dunk". The game is a nationally televised divisional game on the road and the Bengals pass defense is pretty good at not giving up fantasy points to opponent's wr's ( I think they are 4th best in the league).

Gordon on the other hand is in a great position to produce this week. Yes, the Colts are at home and their defense needs to rebound. But with all the other Brown's wr's looking out or weak, Weeden's top target should be Gordon. If Luck and the Colts make it a shoot out, then maybe Gordon has a big day.

Not sure that is the right move or not to bench Wallace for a rookie Browns WR on the road. In fact, it is almost laughable. But I did it. Hope it works out well for me.

Ballsy... I started Gordon instead of Steve Smith...

so glad I snagged him off waivers last week in my keeper league....he's gonna be a real good one.

Oooooooooooooooooooooh near miss on another deep bomb.

The sun roof opened literally JUST the second the ball came into his hands and he dropped it.

Soooo close.

Gordon just dropped what would have been another long TD pass.

I am fascinated by Gordon's output these last three weeks.

We can all recall streaky WRs over the years making the most out of a small amount of targets (Devery Henderson, Robert Meachem, etc). But those explosive outputs are often only one game, followed so often by a quiet game. Clearly, Gordon is being featured more often in this passing game. I was wondering if any of you recall a player like this doing so much with so few targets three games in a row.

All that said, Gordon has been targeted nine times today.

The incredible thing is he could easily have had 2 more TD's than he does now (a pass thrown behind him last week and the one today).

I'm happy with that game today. Almost had 3 tds today.
+1. They keep giving him the deep targets and he keeps catching at least a couple of them a game. He's sort of performing how Mike Wallace did his rookie season. Didn't have a ton of targets, or catches, but the ones he got were usually killer.

Very happy with this guys performance yesterday. Could have really used the extra TD(s) but I'll be letting it ride each week until he rolls a craps. Gotta give a lot of credit to Weeden, the rook is looking poised.

I'm very, very very mad at myself for dropping this guy the week before he started blowing up. He's going to be mega-good.

gonna be giving him his 1st start in my lineup this weekend due to injuries / byes. With Richardson likely out/Hardesty in, SD with the #1 run defense and the #25 pass defense I think there's a good shot he continues his nice run as Clev will likely gameplan to throw the ball all day. I know at some point his consecutive TD string will stop at some point...here's hoping it continues one more week!!

All aboard!!

To those who have actually seen the games (I've only caught glimpses on redzone), what gives with the catch rate for Gordon? Is he dropping passes? Is Weeden making poor throws on some targets? Is he running the wrong routes?

The catch rate is the only thing that's concerning me with this guy... that and the fact that it's the Browns, so I hesitate to go all-in on his dynasty value, and I'm wondering if he's a sell-high...

He's the first rookie WR since Randy Moss to have 3 straight games with a TD of 30+ yards. That says something....but maybe that something is that he's been very lucky. Here's hoping that trend continues.

I haven't watched every game, nor am I a Browns fan, but from the game/plays I DID get to see out of him it appears that doesn't have a one part answer:1. He's only running a few routes. 2. Most of his targets are downfield.Given that, the catch rate isn't that surprising to me. At least not for this year. He's a raw, raw rookie who's running a very limited route tree, mostly downfield. He isn't getting those three or four stick routes per game that are "automatic catches" to buff his %....yet.

It's not been luck, I think this is the beginning of something, but he's still developing. He doesn't know all the routes, is still learning to read defensive coverages, and with his primary role being the down field guy he's not going to bring in as many catches just because less passes are completed down field. He's a good guy to stuff in there to cover byes and hope for the best (I have been) and keep him around to see if he is a trustworthy option down the home stretch but starting over your top WR's is just looney.

:goodposting: The Browns are fielding a team with a large number of rookies on the offensive side of the ball and don't forget that as mature of a QB that Brandon Weeden is, he is still a rookie QB himself.
