WR Josh Gordon, KC (4 Viewers)

I swore he dropped another TD yesterday. It wasn't an easy catch, but again he was thrown to in the endzone. Ball was low and it would have been a great catch considering the weather too. I was far off in a bar, so couldn't confirm it was him or not.

I saw the play you are speaking of...He didn't angle for the ball in the best way but it was far from a drop.

So it was him then. Yeah, drop is a bad way to describe it. Tough play, but encouraging sign was the attempt.

I have a hunch that I cannot explain. I think Gordon is going to have a very good day against the Steelers defense.

I like my intuition when it comes to reading people. You can't always articulate the vibe people give off, but you to trust it.FF? Not so much.I expect whoever Ike Taylor is covering will have a 2-15 kind of day. But a possession receiver running underneath routes might do OK in this one.I honestly don't know much about the Browns other TRich has met/exceeded expectations and Greg Little has not. Gordon seems like a boom/bust player who gets loose once in awhile. Torrey Smith lite. Low scoring affair that is decided in the trenchs seems most likely.

The weather reports incidcate high winds and cold/chilly temps which would make it even more difficult for completing deep passes. Last week against the Cowboys the Browns didn't attempt any passes over 20 yards. It seems the coaches are more concerned about Weeden 'NOT throwing' interceptions rather than going deep. Also Greg Little has caught 19 of the last 20 catchable balls thrown his way and in the red zone TE Ben Watson has 3 TDs. After blowing up for multiple deeps scores Gordon caught the eyes and attention of defensive coordinators just as the coaching staff clamped down on Weeden's risky throws and as G-Little began to actually 'catch' balls. Add in a tough defense and the weather and it looks like many factors are conspiring against Josh Gordon even though he is due for a deep score.

Ike Taylor has been very good this year aside from one game, and Keenan Lewis has been lights out the last 2 or 3 weeks. I'm not expecting much out of either WR this week, but if I had to choose one, it'd be Little in a PPR league.

So are the chiefs without flowers and others today? Chiefs seem to give up big plays but not a lot of receptions overall and have been decent against wr1s generally. Thoughts?

Likely won't know for an hour or so. Right or wrong, Flowers' status is my tie-breaker between Gordon & Steve Smith (benching Nicks w/ his bum knee & lack of explosion). Just watch for pre-game news about Flowers (Eric Berry is questionable as well, fwiw)

This is big. FWIW I have Gordon penciled in over Bowe, Tate, and Denarius Moore. Hopefully we get an update soon.

Same here, I'm between Gordon and Bowe.(with Nelson and Shorts out. :wall: )

Going with Gordon over Bowe in one league, and over Denario and Fitz in another.

KC pass defense against WRs ranks 16th, smack dab in the middle of the pack in terms of yardage and scores given up by their defense to wide receivers. Middle of the pack is eh but take a look at what the Chiefs have given up to opposing wide receivers over the past three weeks.

Three weeks ago against Cincinnati the Chiefs surrendered 10 catches for 143 yards along with 2 touchdowns to Bengal WRs.

Two weeks ago they gave up 12 catches for 298 yards along with 1 touchdown against Denver WRs.

Last week they gave up 10 catches for 160 yards and 2 touchdowns against the Panther WRs.

Now those numbers are pretty high but take another look.

CIN - WR AJ Green and QB Andy Dalton

DEN - Peyton

CAR - Cam and Steve Smith but Smith caught a 53 yard hail mary at the end of the game to pad his stat line

The Chiefs have gone all year and they haven’t faced any of the five (now six if you count Foles) rookie starting quarterbacks until this week against rookie QB Brandon Weeden.

True CB Brandon Flowers is gimpy but starting and stud ILB Derrick Johnson is also dinged up and if both of those guys are not 100% then the Browns should find it easier to convert first downs and keep drives alive and also set up play-action for Weeden to hit Gordon deep.

Also I think Josh Gordon is on the brink of establishing himself as an every week start and I think he’s on his way to being matchup proof.

Gordon is a rookie. He only had 17 receptions in the first 8 games or 1.8 receptions per game so he wasn’t getting chances and wasn’t making catches early on but over the last three games he has 15 receptions of 5 per game.

I consider the last three games to be significant for Gordon. I feel he’s been making strides all and looks like a completely different guy from the one we saw early in the year.

I think we are witnessing a true break through by Josh Gordon into a legit #1 NFL WR. He's not quite there but he's really close IMHO.

Its 420 time.... Gordo has just roasted a phat zip of some dank Fire OG Kush topped off with beautiful Butane Honey Oil.... in other words.... This guy wants to crack a 1000 yards pretty bad b4 seasons end....

He's going to put it down today.... Gordo loves is Kush

In terms of yards that Gordon needs to reach an even 1,000 for the year >> 354If Gordon reaches 1,000 it will be significant. Why?Well the Browns have two other rookies who are nearing milestone rookie seasons.Rookie QB Brandon Weeden only needs 180 yards to reach 3,000 for the year and he should reach that today. I think he is within reach of a 3,500 yard rookie passing season. Then rookie RB Trent Richardson is within 133 yards of reaching a 1,000 rushing season. Its possible he could reach that today but unlikely. He definitely should have a 1,000 yard rookie rushing season to go with over 3,000 yards for rookie QB Brandon Weeden and rookie WR Josh Gordon 'could' possibly also reach the 1,000 yard plateau. If the Browns pulled that one off, it might be the first time in NFL history that a team had rookies reach those benchmarks and would be a huge feather in the cap of Browns GM Tom Heckertt. No way should Heckertt be sent packing after this year.

Decent game, 8 catches for 86 yards.

He is 268 yards shy of a 1,000 yard recieving season with three games left to play.

A 1,000 yard season is within reach.

Not bad for a rookie.

Last minute swap of Alex Green for Danario as my flex in that other league...If someone told me before the season that I'd be starting Gordon and Danario down the stretch I would have thought I'd been hit bad with some huge WR injuries and be playing for a top rookie pick, and not riding them into playoffs.

Im sort of  of how many are touting him as unbenchable this week. I like him, but lets get real.
I wouldn't call him "unbenchable", perse, but it's pretty easy to get on board starting a guy going up against the 2nd worst pass D in the league. Especially since his targets per game have been consistently at 7 or more for a month and coming off a game where he received 12 of them. Not saying I'd expect bankable top 12 production for the week, but top 24? With the ever present chance to house one from long distance? Sure, why not?

Ive gotta go 2 of Colston, DX, and Gordon this week to pair witg Megatron. Been swapping back and forth. Right now Colston and DX. Colston seems to always leave me uninspired. Is Gordon a safe choice?

thinking about rolling with Gordon over a banged up Roddy White and Garcon who's going against Haden (and no RGIII)
I'm making the exact same decision here - Gordon vs White. It would help if White had a bad matchup, but he really doesn't... At home, against the Giants is a pretty sweet matchup for him.

I just checked the weather in Cleveland...looks windy. Currently 18mph winds with gusts up to 25 mph. It looks the wind will die down a little during the game, but there is a lot on the line. I may have to go with Mike Williams instead. :loco: :loco:

So now that we've had a season to observe Gordon, and we know the exact pick the Browns sacrificed (39th overall) – What are everyone's thoughts?

Where would Josh Gordon rank in the 2013 draft if he were coming out this year?

Just talent wise, Id have to think he'd be in the same ballpark as the guys expected to go in the 2nd round, some of which are late 1st round possibilities.

Talent-wise he's up there, but so is Da'Rick Rogers, and he'll get taken closer to 3.7 or even 4.7. He and Rogers have pretty similar resumes: 6'3, low 4'5s, a good year, then kicked out.

My thoughts are he is better than ALL the 2013 prospects. Best combo of speed height and weight. Better than Kendall Wright, a 2012 first round pick. His only real fault was baggage-which SEEMS to be behind him.

Yeah I agree, and I think Wright is pretty good

He'd be below Cordarrelle Patterson in this regard I think, but Im guessing Gordon was considered a more polished WR this time last year than Patterson. When it comes to the draft, the baggage matters to various degrees. While I really like Gordon, I dont think he/his talent was so cant miss - especially if you try to erase from your mind his 2012 season - that he still wouldve been a 1st round pick. My guess is in the 2013 class, and considering off-field issues, he would be a late 2nd/early 3rd rounder.

As an admittedly very raw 21 year old rookie, catching balls thrown by a 2nd round project rookie QB, he put up 800 yards in his rookie year. He's less quick than Patterson, but he's a bigger guy (taller, heavier, bigger hands, huge wingspan). So on the measurables front, few from this class would match up.

I would say given that, he'd probably be in discussion as the first receiver taken this year. I don't think he'd get past the first round.
