WR Josh Gordon, KC (1 Viewer)

I figured maybe the Packers, with Cobb down for most of the season, would have made an offer to make sure that Gordon didn't get on the plane back to Cleveland after the game. But if he was trying to impress Ted Thompson on Sunday, you'd never know it.

Could anyone see Atlanta jumping in?
If they were to, it would have made more sense to do it immediately after Julio's diagnosis and going into the BYE so that Gordon would have a chance to get semi up-to-speed and integrated into the offense. I suppose it's not outside the realm of possibility, but it has already been denied by the organization.

Can any situation be better than Cleveland? Or could he be traded somewhere where his value will actually go down?
will he start playing harder somewhere else?
You have any linkage for the slacking issues you've mentioned?
I don't, but I will second what MAC said. His body language looked terrible the entire game. You never know if someone has personal issues going on, or maybe they just aren't feeling well, but it looked like he would have rather been anyplace else.
calls for the sideline before a key third down, short arms the desperation fourth down, not focusing falling down over and over again, jogs off the line on runs and screens not to him, quits on the play when weeden is forced to scramble.Ability only matters if you care.
I've noticed the same the last few weeks.

gosh, the Browns aren't playing hard for Weeden?

after seeing what Hoyer was able to do, i'm surprised they aren't attacking Weeden with baseball bats and crowbars.

As a Gordon owner, I have noticed it as well, but he is definitely not the only one out there that is looking frustrated and blase

Chudzinski news conf: Campbell will start at QB
:oldunsure:

ETA: While I think Campbell has the arm and vertical game to keep Gordon in the WR2 status, it just can't be good for him to keep switching QB's... chemistry and all. We'll see... honestly, it's probably for the best. Weeden would have been murdered by the KC defensive front 7.
I didn't think Campbell's arm was that great. He's basically a poor version of Captain Checkdown.

This is terrible for Gordon. Campbell is horrible and doesn't take shots downfield, captain checkdown for sure. Gordon looks so uninterested all the time, I think it's going to get worse.

TRADE HIM!

ugh....not too sure which is worse but all options are unappealing. Campbell has more mobility than Weeden (a rock has more mobility) so that's probably a bit helpful. Might be a better change for Cameron if he is capt checkdown....

He checks down a lot, but he can get the ball down field too. If I remember correctly his read progression is often down field then where's the bail out. He chooses option #2 too often, but he chooses option #1 enough to make the big play threat useful.

hes not accurate for the deep ball, he has the arm but he will look like freeman out there.. im expecting Cameron to be his favorite target at least for this week

One of the more frustrating players to own in keeper leagues right now. Diminished value for this year but the possibility of a trade or improved QB player next year combined with all-world talent means he still holds tons of value as a keeper.

Sucks to think that only a few weeks ago he was a possible WR1 both this year and for years to come.

I don't think Gordon was trying very hard for Weeden, but he was trying pretty hard for Hoyer.

Will he work hard for Campbell? I have no idea, but at least there's a chance he will. I'll take that chance over the seeming certainty of him cutting routes short, dropping passes and ducking hits for the rest of the season.

Campbell signed with the Chicago Bears on March 13, 2012 to a one-year contract as a backup to Jay Cutler.[16] In Week 10 against the Houston Texans, Campbell replaced Cutler, who had gone down with a concussion.[17] In the game, Campbell completed 11 of 19 passes for 94 yards and a 70.9 passer rating.[18] On November 16, Cutler was ruled out of the Bears-San Francisco 49ers game, meaning Campbell would start the game.[19] The Bears went on to lose 32-7

Ugh...not good. Campbell is so fn gun shy to push the ball downfield. I'll be shocked if this isn't a mess for Gordon.

I still don't see how a guy like him can be benched. There aren't that many players that can turn a pathetic 2 for 17 day into a 3 for 97 and a TD day.

Rotoworld:

Browns CEO Joe Banner was noncommittal on the possibility of a Josh Gordon trade, but insisted he'd be "completely shocked" if Gordon were dealt before the October 29 deadline.
The deadline is next Tuesday at 4PM ET. "If you’re in this long enough, you learn to never say anything absolute, because then something comes up and you look like you lied," Banner said. "I personally — and I think anybody here — would be completely shocked if we ended up trading him. Josh is playing great. He’s working his butt off." National media reports generally say a Gordon trade is possible, but likely will not happen. We still wouldn't bet against it.

ESPN's Adam Caplan also posted this yesterday --- "On #Browns WR Josh Gordon, he's been on the trade block for several weeks, source said. Banner wants him out, very clear, source said."

I think it's clear what's happening here....The Browns want to trade Josh Gordon. It seems like they're leveraging and posturing to try and get the best deal that they can.... But that's just me.

Aren't trades involving talented players supposed to produce a shocking effect? That's usually how they go down in the end.

If we read a headline of "49ers acquire Josh Gordon" we will feel shocked.

Do you guys think 49ers would bode well for his fantasy outlook?

HELL yes. Crabtree looked like a bust when Smith was his QB. When Kap took over, he bordered on STUD status.

Between worrying about the read option and Vern, Gordon would be in line to put up some silly numbers.

Rotoworld:

Browns OC Norval Turner believes trade rumors could be affecting Josh Gordon's play.
"I would hope not, but I’m realistic to know that it does," Turner said Thursday. "He’s a young guy. He’s not very experienced. He wasn’t the go-to guy as a young player, so this is all a new thing for him. I think when you add those things to it, it can affect him. Obviously, we’re doing our best to focus and let him understand that he’s our guy, and we want him to be as good as he can get." Gordon is coming off his first dud of the season, but Brandon Weeden's play was the culprit. The Browns' switch to Jason Campbell has fantasy owners nervous, but averaging 16.7 yards per catch and 90 yards per game, Gordon is still very much a WR2.

Ha, what about going from Hoyer to Weeden and now to Campbell? A downgrade each time, plus the loss of timing and synergy between Gordon and his QB.

So it pretty unanimous you should bench Gordon considering the matchup and Campbell starting? I don't love the situation but view him as a semi-stud in the sense that he has the talent, but a poor situation. I have a hard time benching him over a Harry Douglas/Nicks type.

Exactly, I don't have anyone better on my bench. I am not an "always play your studs" person, but in this case, knowing that several receivers have played very well against them, I am not scared of the matchup...I think this game might be more wide open than expected, 2 teams not familiar with each other (unless you count a slight overlap of Turner and Reid in 2000 I think?

Had Edelman in there for a minute, but can't do it, especially with Glassmandola back.

In another league Boykin gets the easy nod over JG, at least for this week.
