WR Josh Gordon, KC (3 Viewers)

So clever replying to a question with a question. Not a waste of time like your other strategy of framing everying so tightly into yet another question and then demaninging an answer.

Gordon is not 'dangling', he's exhausting the appeals process.
You think it is a fact that this delay is soley due to Josh Gordon exhuasting the appeals proccess.

I don't agree for one simple reason,

The only player involved in this matter who has the power to set a date is the NFL not Josh Gordon.

Sure would love to know the date that Brazill failed his test and compare it to the date that Gordon failed his.

NFL: 'Brazill, you are a nobody, have a nice year off.'

NFL: 'Gordon, we are trying to get you a lesser sentence but this Brazill idiot really ####ed #### up.'

There are all sorts of mitigating factors. Some cases are really slam dunks, some are very complex. Until we get more facts, I'm not sure how you can read anything into the comparability of two different situations.

actually it seems that we can just make up whatever we want and then get upset if anyone asks us if there has been a comparable scenario in the past.

The axyom of 'heads you win, tails we lose' applies.

Doesn't take much effort to find some fans post stances that run counter to the team they appear or claim to be a fan of.

If things turn out favorably no one bothers to go back and find out which posters made negative comments about their team so they get to claim victory if things don't work out but jump on the bandwagon if things turn out because no one goes back to hold people's feet to the fire when things are going well.

Good point. We don't know when Gordon's people filed an appeal but if it was right after the letter then the league very well may be holding it up while they build their argument.

Picked up the Athlon sports Fantasy Football magazine and NO Josh Gordan in any rankings...a little blurb on the team page about IF he plays he will help the team. I find that odd .

From Rotoworld:

Sources close to Josh Gordon tell the Cleveland Plain Dealer they're "concerned" Gordon "will have a tough time making it back into the NFL" if his one-year suspension stands.
The appeal of Gordon's ban will be held in late July. Per the Plain Dealer, the people are worried about Gordon losing his "support system," as he'll be away from the Browns' organization and ineligible to participate in football activities. The sources reportedly point to Jaguars WR Justin Blackmon, who was suspended indefinitely last November and is not expected to be reinstated in 2014. Gordon's Dynasty league owners should have similar worries.

Confirmed #Browns WR Josh Gordon Arrested By Raleigh, NC Police. Jail Has Booked & Processed Him

Josh Gordon arrested for DWI in North CarolinaPosted by Darin Gantt on July 5, 2014, 2:59 PM EDT

When Josh Gordon has his suspension hearing later this month, he’ll apparently have some fresh material to talk to the NFL about.

According to Matt Anderson of WKYC in Cleveland, Gordon has been arrested for DWI in Raleigh, N.C.

The mugshot is here, though there are few details of the arrest.

Gordon was likely looking at a lengthy suspension anyway, and at this point, it’s reasonable to wonder if he’ll play again at all.

Before Soulfly beats me to it, there's no mention of weed.

That being said, (and I know Soulfly and other Gordon apologists will refute this), this can't be good for his appeal. Assuming that the year-long suspension reports were accurate, the police stop with weed in his car and a alleged DUI arrest, while his appeal is pending will, IMO, impact whether Goodell decides to reduce the suspension or not.

Furthermore, this, IMO, does not indicate that Gordon is "getting it." He should be going to work out, church, and home until his appeal is decided; not driving around while his friends smoke up in his car, or partying on the 4th and then jumping behind the wheel of a car while drunk.

He has only been arrested, not convicted!

And what if, at his court date, he had a LEGIT reason for being drunk, then driving??

Instead of attacking Josh Gordon, pray for him! It's crazy to me how we judge people when we all are battling with our own faults and issues
@YahooSchwab 4m

Have to guess Josh Gordon never plays for the Browns again, after his DWI. Question is, does he play for anyone again? Sad story, really.
@SigmundBloom 1m

Lot of very judgmental people about a 23 year old making typical early 20's mistakes. It's sad and a waste, but he's not a murderer
@dpbrugler 27s

DWI another example of why the #Browns couldn't trade WR Josh Gordon. More than just lack of common sense, he doesn't care about changing
@JayGlazer 46s

Josh Gordon what are you thinking?!? Honestly hope he gets help bc he can't help himself
‏@dpbrugler 2m

A big issue with Gordon is the company he keeps. A lot of bad influences that hinder the chances of him changing. Its really a shame #Browns

It was second-hand alcohol.

A buddy was drinking, then passed out. He wasn't breathing, so Gordon gave him mouth-to-mouth, saved his life.

Then Gordon got a call from the NFL's Medical Advisor that he had to take a piss test. Having "gotten it" after his (alleged) missed test, he knew that he had to be there, so he jumped in his car, and was driving safely, well within the speed limit, but one of his tail-lights happened to be out. He was stopped by a police officer, who hates the Browns, and decided to give him a breathalyzer test, even though he had absolutely no reason to suspect that Gordon was under the influence. His score was barely over the legal limit, and it will come to light that the breathalyzer used was past-due for calibration.

When all this information is presented at Gordon's appeal hearing, Goodell will not only rescind any suspension, but he will remove Gordon from the NFL's Drug testing program (whatever freakin' stage he's in) and grant him a lifetime exemption from ever being tested again.

Gordon will play all 16 games, catch 200 passes for 3000 yards and 35 TDs in 2014. He will sign the largest contract in NFL history, and it will be the first NFL contract to be fully guaranteed. He can never be cut, regardless of whether his play declines, he starts growing the weed in his NFL locker, or is actively smoking up on the sidelines of games.

/end Soulfly impersonation/

next time drive head on a to a tree
Simmer down, guy. JFC.
sorry could have been my kid he drove into instead ??
Have to agree, he could have killed someone like another former Browns WR, wouldn't matter though, he would only get 30 days in jail if he did.

This guy needs to go get help and not worry about football at all, he needs a good support staff and he just doesnt have it.

Seriously. What a shame this kid is so relentlessly self destructive. Yeah, he's a kid. Yeah, he's made judgment mistakes a lot of kids do. The difference is that most of those kids don't get the opportunity to take advantage of a life changing event that allows them to dramatically improve their lives, the lives of their immediate loved ones, and their next couple of generations of their future family. Such an immense waste.

Browns' Josh Gordon arrested for DWI in Raleigh

By Marc Sessler

Around the League Writer

The offseason only grows colder for Josh Gordon.

NFL Media's Albert Breer confirmed that the Cleveland Browns wide receiver was arrested early Saturday for DWI in Raleigh, North Carolina, per the Raleigh Police Department.

Gordon was driving while impaired and clocked going 50 mph in a 35 mph zone, police spokesman Jim Sughrue told NFL Media. He was arrested shortly before 3 a.m. ET and released on bond at approximately 6 a.m. Saturday.

"We are aware of the matter and are disappointed to learn of this situation," Browns general manager Ray Farmer said in a statement. "We will comment further at the appropriate time."

The Pro Bowler already was awaiting word on his potentially lengthy suspension for a positive drug test.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday that Gordon's suspension appeal hearing will be held at the end of July. That appeal could be nixed if the NFL and NFL Players Association strike a deal on a reduced suspension for Gordon, but another arrest certainly clouds the future for last year's league-leading receiver.

It was just last month that Gordon pleaded not guilty to a speeding ticket after he was stopped going 74 mph in a 60 mph zone in late May. His passenger was cited for possession of marijuana.

Gordon, 23, was suspended two games and fined four game checks by the NFL for violating the league's substance abuse policy last year. He also failed at least one marijuana test at Baylor, leading to an indefinite ban.

Gordon has emerged as one of the game's most dangerous pass-catchers and brightest young stars on the field, but it's fair to wonder if and when he'll play his next snap.

The latest "Around The League Podcast" ranked the best (and worst) quarterbacks in the NFL today.

Last season, Josh Gordon became 1st Browns player to lead NFL in receiving yards (set franchise record with 1,646 yards)
@ESPNStatsInfo · 18m

Josh Gordon: only player in NFL history with 200+ receiving yards in back-to-back games
@AlbertBreer 10m

Josh Gordon had 87 catches for 1,646 yards and nine TDs in 14 games as a 22-year-old receiver last fall.
@AlbertBreer 8m

That means Gordon's avg game last year at 22 years old -- with an unsettled QB situation and crumbling team -- was 6 catches for 118 yards.

Soulfly? :crickets:
Probably still in Raleigh municipal lockup.
:lol: that was genuinely lol funny.

It's not worth dancing on his grave. He invested way too much of himself being an apologist and incrementally stretching his position beyond rationality. He put himself in such a poor posture that he felt the need to play the victim card as a distraction. There's no use in trying to force his hand to be contrite after that. I'm guilty of that myself and it didn't serve any purpose. I know better and should have refrained.

That ends any chance he can cut the suspense down to 8 or 10 games. Drunk driving is serious. Good chance we never see him play for a long time. What a shame.such talent. Hopefully he gets away from football , gets the help he needs and we see him back in a few years.
