.09 isn't all that bad. A few years ago this would have been a non-story. Not justifying him being out at 3am, but not as bad as I 1st thought

Bullsh*t - .09 - good god...The real story is that more speeding / drunk driving tickets are being distributed nationwide because of ridiculously tighter standards....

This means that it is not as big a deal to get a speeding ticket / DUI....

Practically everyone has them or will soon...

I am GREATLY concerned about the Fatz Thomas link, as he helped ruin the college career of PJ Hairston.

The law in most places is .08... That is the bottom line. You can disagree with it all you want, but if you're pulled over and have a higher BAC, you will be arrested. For a guy who should already be on a very short leash, you need to be pretty stupid to get behind the wheel with more than one drink in your system.His 2014 is over, Goodell will drop the hammer, Gordon is not bright.

Given his history, it is bull####. This guy has submarined his career. He's clearly not a very bright human being. Anyone with even below average intelligence would realize he needs to be sparkling clean and make adjustments accordingly. Gordon has the belief that nothing but a buzz matters. Good for him. Maybe fame and gazillions of dollars just isn't that important to him. He's following his real passion, obviously. Compared to any normal human being, this is a dumb man.

Appears I deleted my post on accident. No I do not believe that gambling or any other form of "addiction" that isn't based on chemical dependent is an addiction. Weed is not addictive. Not is gambling. Cigarettes, alcohol, meth, oxy... That ####s addictive.

The DSM distinguishes between "substance-induced disorders" (such as withdrawal, and which all of the substances you listed would result in) and "substance use disorders".

At the end of the day, whether you believe weed is addictive or not, the people who valued Gordon as if he had an addiction problem were able to make actionable predictions and dramatically outperform the market when it came to valuing Josh Gordon. Whether we consider Gordon an addict or not, to this point, valuing Gordon as if he hypothetically did have an addiction problem would have produced superior fantasy outcomes. I would be more sympathetic to the idea that Gordon isn't struggling with addiction if his behavior wasn't exactly what one would anticipate seeing from someone struggling with addiction.

2) Alcohol and marijuana have no correlation with each other.

3) Use of alcohol is legal and not prohibited by the NFL.

4) Only the people closest to Gordon know if he has an addiction to alcohol which is feasible. Addiction to marijuana is not, nor do I give any credibility to people who suggest the opposite.

By lowering the legal limit to .08, might seem foolish to 1 or 2 posters here, but the fact that is has saved lives and reduced accidents caused by drinking and driving, some industrial countries have even lowered the limits to .02. Let's put it this way: I would say the exact same thing about anyone who blows a .09. Gordon just happens to be someone who lives in the spotlight so he gets to be the face of the problem.

The idea is for the limit to be lower than what would put people at risk. We aren't wanting to inch close to where people are running into people and then scale .01 back from that. We want a nice buffer. We want people to be put on notice that drunk driving kills people and we as a society have no tolerance for those who put themselves in position to have their judgment impaired and then go out on the road. So yeah, maybe .08 or even .05 is lower than what people can function at.

The problem is that you are looking at this as one incident in and of itself without regard to the total picture. When you add all of the incidents together, and the time frame they occurred in, then you get what the issue is. Of course if this was an isolated incident it would be meaningless. In the big picture it's not.

I agree .08 is BS but that doesn't make Gordon any less stupid for speeding around on a holiday with enough alcohol in his system to be borderline even. I have a high tolerance myself and drive fine but I don't speed when I've been drinking and I'm especially careful around holidays.
