WR Kadarius Toney (1 Viewer)

This is just a weird situation... I have seen sites clarify a low-ankle sprain and probably nullifies my earlier timeline, but even a re-aggravation of a low ankle sprain can take 3 weeks to heal. The man could barely get to the sidelines last Sundday and was distraught... As a Giants fan I say Giants should have IR'd him for his own good; the season is basically done now.
I don't disagree with your assessment on Toney going to the IR but I wouldn't say the season is even close to being over for the Giants because they need to evaluate their roster and decide on which players to rebuild around.  If this were last season the would probably be 1 game out of first place with their 1-5 record.

If any of you drop this stud, shame on you. Just take the empty starting roster spot or drop a kicker / defense

Basically giving a WR1 when healthy to an opposing leaguemate
I dropped a now healthy Bateman for this guy on my bench. And I like Bateman.

If this were a baseball thread, it would be like dropping a solid singles hitter for a home run threat.

The path to WR1 is very clear for Toney- Bateman not so much but there's an outside shot.

Have a chance to Drop ARob for him...

The low ankle seems to be borderline Chronic at this point, however. Can he even really be trusted?

Having started him in 2 leagues only to have him head to the locker room after 5 mins.... that gives me pause.

And he scored 6 fantasy points in that 5 minutes.  Yes there is some risk, but the reward could be fantastic.  ARob has been really poor, I’d drop him for Toney.

I'm not sure I would describe the ankle injury as chronic - it seems more likely he played before it was fully healed and re-aggravated the injury.  Prior to Week 5 in his college/NFL career, he had no ankle injuries that we know of at least, if this source is to be trusted.

Looking to get a barometer reading on Toney. I hear everything from add this guy now while you can to FBG's having him averaging 7.35 in .5 ppr, very low rated ROS - good for WR #64. Injury certainly doesn't help. Worth a shot in a 2 for 2 trade because he has tremendous upside talent?

I can't speak to FBG's rankings but other sites have him higher. They be factoring in for risk.

If he's healthy he's likely more like a 10-12 pts/wk guy at half PPR... with some upside.

ARob? Redraft?

Yes! Do it! Absolutely!

What value does ARob bring you right now? The hope that his overwhelmed rookie QB figures it out?

Hope he gets traded? Okay that's fair but seems like a slim hope. Why not take a shot on what may be a rookie phenom?

ARob doesn't seem like a league winner this year. Kadarius? ...maybe???

With the Monday start, there's a near zero percent chance I'm leaving him in my lineup. Unless I see a video of him cutting all over the place and saying how awesome he feels.

Agreed. Gotta see him get through a game. I'll be routing for him to blow up, but he'll be on my bench this week. Rolling our Randal Cobb tomorrow (gulp).

What's everyones backup plan for Monday night with Toney?  Do you have another option readily available or looking for one?

Slayton. If Toney doesn’t go I think he gets a long TD or 2. I need to get him off of waivers tonight though and if that doesn’t happen I’ll probably go an entirely different direction (player from a different game and just take a wait and see on Toney).

Interesting.  I have both Slayton and Golladay available to me ....

If they both play and Toney doesn’t, I think they are both viable.  Golladay might be the safer choice actually.  If Kenny was an option for me, that’s who I’d go for.

I’ve used Slayton in spots starts in the past and he has come through big time but there is a lot of lucked involved with that as he is hit or miss.  KC defense isn’t great and I’m thinking KC gets a lead at some point forcing NY to utilize the forward pass.

yeah, I can drop J. Williams or T Patrick for Golladay --may just do it --

Javonte or Jamaal?  Probably Jamaal.

I probably drop Patrick with Jeudy coming back and replacement level WRs are generally easier to come by than replacement level RBs.

yes, Jamaal.  What's your thoughts on Slayton vs Golladay?
Just like Toney, Golladay may not even play and if he does may be limited and/or make an early exit.

If you have to roll the dice on one as a replacement for Toney, and cannot change that decision after you make your choice, I think you have to go with Slayton.

Makes sense --thanks!

Excited to see KT back in action again. I just need to see more snaps to make up my mind on what kind of player he can be long term.

Speaking Thursday, Giants coach Joe Judge said he believes Kadarius Toney (ankle) and Kenny Gollday (knee) are making "good progress," and that he is "pretty optimistic" they could practice Friday.

It is excellent news after Toney and Golladay both drew DNPs for Thursday's official practice after getting some run in Wednesday's unofficial session. The G-Men did not have to issue a Wednesday injury report since they are playing Monday evening. We would assume both wideouts have a legitimate chance to play, but there is a good chance we might not have enough information by the time lineups have to be set Sunday morning. For now, consider both players on the wrong side of questionable with a chance to begin getting on track Friday.

Practiced today

3 hours agoNew York Giants rookie wide receiver Kadarius Toney (ankle) is taking part in drills in practice on Friday for the first time this week, which is a good sign for his availability on Monday night against the Kansas City Chiefs. Toney aggravated an existing ankle injury in Week 6 and was inactive last Sunday, but he has a chance to return in a great matchup against KC's struggling defense in Week 8. The 22-year-old had a whopping 10 receptions on 13 targets for 189 yards in Week 5, but it remains to be seen if Kenny Golladay (knee) and Sterling Shepard (hamstring) will also return this week for the Giants offense. If one or both of Golladay and/or Shepard don't play and Toney returns, he'll certainly be on the flex radar against the Chiefs on Monday night.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
Kinda wish they'd give another week to heal. I'd be amazed if he doesn't end up hurting himself trying to gut it out. Hope I'm wrong.

SNY's Ralph Vacchiano reports WR Kadarius Toney (questionable, ankle) will travel with the team to Kansas City.

Toney returned to practice Friday for the first time since re-injuring his ankle in Week 6. The rookie first-rounder has practiced on consecutive days, giving him a chance to return Monday night against the Chiefs.  With Kenny Golladay (knee) out another week, Toney will be a high-floor WR2 if he plays.

My worry isn't that he plays it's that he doesn't finish playing.

I have him and Shepherd sitting there and i don't think i can play either of them...

Since this is a Monday night, I will play one of him or Shepherd but not both.
I get this, but if Toney gets through the game he should have a monster game, I’m willing to gamble with him. My struggle is I don’t have anyone I want to drop to get pettis just in case Toney doesn’t go. Real gamble here

It depends on each individual's matchup. Im a big underdog so I'm willing to swing for the fences. If I was a slight underdog or favored I'd go with a safer play.

if it’s between guys like toney and van Jefferson who could have 2 point floor, I rather roll with Toneys greater upside and risk the zero. Even with limited snaps we’ve seen he’ll likely get a few catches and 30 yards so same floor if he starts.

For me it's between Toney and Damien Harris
