WR Kadarius Toney (1 Viewer)

Dropped in redraft for Cole Kmet. I have more faith in my bench receivers Pickens and Burks than I do in Toney.

Well if we're sharing in group therapy, Hi, I'm habsfan. I drafted this guy in the 11th round of my PPR redraft. If I'm being honest, he was a total enigma to me and I feel like someone who bought a stock they heard two strangers talking about in a bar. Now that he's on my roster, I'm trying to figure out what his deal is, which is entirely the wrong order to do things in.

I honestly don't get this for redraft, but that's why there are champions and teams that draft like I drafted my sixteen-team league watching the champions.

I really did botch that draft. Oof.

Patience the best option with this guy or cut bait?

Really depends on your league and who is out there. I'd preach patience, but his new coach seems to dislike his body of work. Not too many guys you could have drafted that late or pick up now that are as electrifying, but if somebody like Curtis Samuel is sitting on your wire, I'd think long and hard before probably dropping Toney.

But that's Samuel, and this is a long, long season.

I've just never been a fan of the pick - he was way too raw and unpolished to be a first rounder. Nothing but drama from Day One. But then he has a day like the Cowboys game last year and you think "wow this kid is so talented." Lots of talented guys never put in the work to refine their craft. Always tease and never overdeliver.
The anti-ASB. He's my #3 WR, not cutting bait yet. The 19 yard run last week, weaving in traffic, in the 4th quarter, is yet another tease. Not gonna drop him yet, in a big league the likes of Chark and DPJ are the best on the waiver.

Already seeing Gage and Devonta Smith cut. Yeah I can drop this guy. I don't know how much lower on the depth chart he can go 🤣 Always hurt, no sustained production any level, coaching staff that didn't draft him.

I heard he has been on the injury report in 14 of the last 19 game weeks. Of the five weeks he wasn't on the injury report, he left two of those games with injuries. Doesn’t sound like a guy I can depend on.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Kadarius Toney (hamstring) is expected to play in Week 2 against the Panthers.

Toney dealt with a hamstring injury late in training camp. He then played seven snaps in the team's opener before re-injuring the hamstring in practice the following week. It has been a disastrous start to Toney's second season. He can be left on the bench in all fantasy formats.

Kadarius Toney (calf) is active for Week 2 against the Panthers.

Giants coach Brian Daboll told NFL Network's Stacey Dales Toney would be active shortly before official inactives dropped. It's good news for Toney, but he remains out of the mix for fantasy purposes. The Giants gave Toney just seven snaps in their opener. He was not targeted but did see two carries.

Even this week he’s reported to have a calf and hamstring injury. either this guy is the softest guy in the league or the unluckiest. He’s a frustrating player to own and I’m sure the Giants feel the same.

Kadarius Toney caught 2-of-3 targets for zero yards in the Giants' Week 2 win against the Panthers.

Toney got the start and saw two early targets that resulted in zero yards, but it was still encouraging to see. Outside of another target in which Daniel Jones missed him while wide open, he was not involved much. Richie James continues to be more of a factor than Toney. He should remain on your bench until he can get back into the coaches good graces.

I have a feeling this is a make or break weekend for Toney fantasy owners. Injuries are one thing but if you have a guy that can’t stay healthy AND THEN when he is healthy he doesn’t get the ball because he “wasn’t in the scheme that week” how can you possibly trust him?

If he gets a few snaps this weekend, you then have to wait another week and “hope” whatever mysterious issue that’s keeping him from getting playing time over guys that aren’t nearly as good as he is magically improves.

I was very close to dropping him this week and dumped Cooper instead. I know it may be a mistake but I’m enamored with Toneys ability on the field. He just needs to figure out how to get on the field.

Unfortunately, probably the worst thing to happen for Toney last week is that the Giants miraculously won that game. You win and your dumb personnel moves aren’t called into question but if he loses that game like they should have there would have been a ton of questions as to why you didn’t play your 2nd best offensive player.

Let’s see how the drama unfolds….
Ugh….2 plays early and then crickets the rest of the game. Cut bait unfortunately.

I knew cutting Cooper to keep Toney was gonna burn. Oh well….

Pretty sure he had a 30+ yard catch called back for offensive pass interference (someone unintentionally set a pick). Caught the pass, stopped on a dime to elude defenders, and got a few more yards. I’m holding and still hopeful in dynasty.

Started him last second in one league when Julio was declared out & Gave Davis a big ? for Monday. Outcome is about what I expected. :bag:

agreed, a 2 catch for 0 yard game was the type of breakout I was hoping for.

he did, Moose thought it was a bad PI call.

Kadarius Toney (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday.

Giants head coach Brian Daboll said Toney is dealing with hamstring soreness. Toney missed practice time last week due to the lingering hamstring issue but was able to play in Week 2, catching two of three targets for zero yards against the Panthers. He logged a meager 40 percent snap rate against Carolina. Toney is a bench stash in 12-team formats for now.

Kadarius Toney (hamstring) was limited in practice on Thursday.

Big news for those of you who are looking forward to what dastardly line Brian Daboll can come up with for Week 3. Toney has two rushes for 23 yards to go with two catches for zero yards this year. He finds himself behind Richie James, Davis Sills, and oh, let's say Mario Manningham on the Giants wideout depth chart. Toney has talent, but hasn't gotten much of a chance to show it so far this season.

Deliberated for a while and ended up cutting Cooper after week 1 to pick up Samuel and kept Toney. I knew it was a risk and Cooper had a higher dependable floor but I was hoping for super high ceiling which I feel Toney has. I had Toney last year and he drove me insane but I fell in love with the ability. I would’ve cut him this week if there was something worth it…debated Goff but kept him one more week.

Such a disappointment as a player so far.

If coach likes everyone else, not sure how they appease Golladay and get Toney snaps. They both have little opportunity to share.
Also, I'd expect trade offers from other teams

Why should they appease Golladay…because he‘s stealing money?

I thought I read that Toney started the game last game. If that is the case then the staff is at least making an effort with him and maybe the injury is playing the biggest role in him not seeing full time work. He did increase from 7 to 28 snaps from week 1 to 2. The way he is able to cut and accelerate is extremely rare. If he is able to figure out a way to stay healthy and takes to coaching then he still has massive upside. The likelihood of those two things happening however…

I read a rumour somewhere that he doesn't like practice but no idea if there's anything to that or not. If he doesn't practice you'd think he wouldn't play, yet he does which doesn't seem entirely in line with the meritocracy they are operating. It also invites speculation on just how injured he is (or isn't). I think there's a combination of things going on with this guy.

I was listening to an interview the other day. Gmen are running a meritocracy and some bust their every day and will be hard to even beat out. Toney didn't give the effort they wanted and didn't play much week one. Golladay had cleaned out his locker in frustration and they had a meeting and all's good now. Golladay had a reasonable complaint that if he's not getting much practice time and even passes thrown his way then he can't sincerely participate in the meritocracy. Daboli was to rethink practice and playing time some, but he wasn't at all budging from rewarding effort of production.
The hosts were saying after he probably gives this many snaps as a minimum. Not cast in stone but general rule. Always opportunity on the scout team. Etc.
The hosts were discussing the goal, the end result Daboli wants too. Is it for Toney and Golladay to be starters? Or just productive practice players that can sub in well.
They were discussed as two the whole time while the other three were high effort gems.

Kadarius Toney (hamstring) is inactive for Week 3 against the Cowboys Monday night.

Toney was listed as doubtful, so it's not a surprise. The Giants will roll with a wideout room of Sterling Shepard, David Sills, Richie James, Kenny Golladay, and Darius Slayton for this one. Also inactive for the Giants are DT Leonard Williams (knee), CB Aaron Robinson (appendix), WR Wan’Dale Robinson (knee), CB Justin Layne, CB Nick McCloud, and LB Tomon Fox.

Sheppard done for the year--- Does Toney get a chance???

Hes on my wire
There’s rumors of Golladay being traded as well. I’m stuck with him. The minute I cut him loose he will go off. The mistake was drafting him in the first place. If there was anything decent on waivers I would have replaced him but there is not.

On my wire too and thinking of picking him up in my keeper league (dropping Mooney).

Toney's talent is there, but the big issue beyond health is that Daboll and Co. just don't like him. Have to think Wan'dale will get his chances, but don't think Wan'dale is more than a smallish gadget player.

It feels like if he just gets that 1 pop game, his value can get immediately restored to the point where you can dump him in dynasty. That's what I'm praying for at least.

The Giants would take on an $18 million cap hit if they traded Golladay. They could split that up between this season and next, but they only have $6 million in cap space as currently constituted. They would have to rework / extend other contracts to get the numbers to work. Not impossible to facilitate, but there would be some steps to be taken before they could trade Golladay.

Then there's the issue that the acquiring team would have to be able to fit him under their own cap . . . and want to pay him $18 million a year for 3 seasons. KG has put up 39-543-0 in 17 GP with the Giants (while missing three games). I would guess not many teams will be interested in the player and that contract (unless the Giants eat a lot of the money . . . which they really don't have the cap space to deal with at the moment).

I own Toney, and I am not enthused at his prospects this season. Hard to get excited over a player that's only played 25% of his team's snaps between last year and this year (and still not getting a ton of reps and constantly injured).

Given his undeniably talents, he still is young and has to learn how to be pros. That's the message HC Daboll is sending to him and everyone. He'll not tolerate lack of efforts. Once Toney picks up,. Just need to exercise a little patience in him and his time will come.
