Seahawks WR Bobby Engram (@ PHI): Deion Branch may be back on the field, but D.J. Hackett is back on the sideline. That means more playing time and more looks for Engram, who hauled in another seven passes for 70 yards in St. Louis last week. Engram is well on his way to shattering his career marks set way back in the late ’90s, and you’ll want to be along for the ride this week. Just last week, Wes Welker – an underneath, possession receiver like Engram — racked up 13 catches for 149 yards against the Eagles.
Redskins WR Santana Moss (vs. BUF): Don’t look now, but Moss is suddenly coming on strong. The notoriously inconsistent speedster has 14 catches, 158 yards and a score in his last two games, by far his best stretch of the season. On Sunday, he’ll take to the field with a purpose against the Bills, who have given up 92 points in their last two games, including big days to No. 1 wideouts Randy Moss (four touchdowns) and Reggie Williams (59 yards, touchdown).
Eagles WR Kevin Curtis (vs. SEA): It’s hard to believe, but the Seahawks have remarkably yielded only three WR touchdowns all year long: One apiece to T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Marques Colston and Isaac Bruce. Curtis is hardly the big, physical red-zone threat that Housh and Colston are, as evidenced by the fact that he hasn’t reached paydirt in his last six games. In fact, take away his 221-yard, three-TD aberration against the Lions, and Curtis has only one score in his other 10 contests.
Giants WR Plaxico Burress (@ CHI): It was one thing when, despite the well-documented ankle injury, Plax was crossing into the endzone on a weekly basis. Now, Burress’ production has not only slipped — he has scored and topped 50 yards just once in his last five efforts – but he’s also dealing with a knee injury that forced him to seek a specialist this week. Last season, the Bears let CB Charles Tillman shadow Plax man-to-man, and the veteran corner held him to just 48 yards on four catches.
