WR Mike Evans, TB (1 Viewer)

Rotoworld:

Mike Evans - WR - Buccaneers

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports Mike Evans (hamstring) "feels good and is optimistic about playing" Sunday against the Titans.

The Buccaneers are going to let Evans test his hamstring out in pregame warmups before making an official announcement. We're guessing he'll suit up, though there is some risk involved because the Bucs don't play until 4:25 PM ET. If active, Evans is a must-start against an injury-plagued Tennessee secondary.

QB Jamies Winston is averaging 15 completions for 208 passing yards with 1.5 pasing TDs per game.

WR Mike Evans is now 6 weeks removed from his hamstring injury and he finally got on the field last week for 41 offensive snaps but didn't make a catch so he probably was a decoy.

UPDATE: TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins is OUT for the next 4 to 6 weeks.

Injuries: Seferian-Jenkins expected to miss 4-6 weeks

----------------------------------

Seferian Jenkins had 7 of Winston's 30 completions leading all in the Tampa receiving corps with 139 receiving yards and since Winton has 3 TDs his 2 obviously lead in scores as well. So now that Jenkins is OUT and WR Mike Evans back and getting more of the workload. I think its reasonable to project that he should get his first receptions and since Seferian-Jenkins is OUT the RZ opportunities should provide a shot at a score.

Buy low in redraft.
I was able to get him for Joseph Randle and Sammy Watkins in a keep 4 league. I'll be able to keep him for a 3rd round pick next year if I so desire.

Also, a guy in my redraft league has been shopping him so there definitely are people looking to move him from my perspective.

Mike Evans said he won't be on a snap count Week 3 against the Texans.

Evans played just 40-of-66 snaps in his season debut against the Saints last week, failing to catch any of his three targets. "I’ll be full go, no pitch count this time," said Evans. "I know I’ll play more this game, so I’m excited about it." Evans obviously didn't suffer any setbacks in New Orleans and will be on the high-end WR2 map against Houston. A big game will happen soon for Evans.
I vowed not to put him in my lineup this week as he cost me, along with many others I am sure, a win this week. But now I feel like a lemming being led toward the cliff as I have little more than a mid level upside scrub in my flex as of right now. This captain is going down with his ship...literally.

So.... you guys are mad that he was used as a decoy to get a huge divisional win last week?

I mean... ya, I guess it's expected to be mad fantasy wise... But that's what he was used as last week. Mike Evans isn't a decoy anymore.

as the old adage says... NEVER BENCH YOUR STUDS.

Yeah, I've been able to trade for him in a couple of redrafts this week. ASJ injury means more targets and the Bucs will be down by 7+ by halftime in a lot of games.

Trying hard to trade for him in redraft. Has anyone seen any reasonable trades go through with Evans? Do we all think he is in store for a high end WR2 season from here out?

got him in dyno, but tried for him in redraft after his goose egg

"he either rots in my lineup, or rots on my bench" was the response I got...

seems ppl know it's just a short matter of time before he starts Mike Evans'ing again

How long til he produces as even a WR2 though? Gotta get his legs under him AND build a rapport with a rookie QB...

(imo) It should develop quite quickly.. Evans is the most explosive player on the Team (Or the NFL, if ya ask around)

I would almost think the QB2 becomes QB1, before some WR3 (w/ rapport) takes more targets than the WR1.. :tfp:

Im gonna say Sunday!

I used to think it would take Evans a few Seasons to really Lock-On..

But the brand new QB, could latch right on to the Baller!

This could cause some :jawdrop:

And at least 5 drops. That was one of the worst games I've ever seen a wide receiver play.
He wasn't catching anything cleanly. Looked like he was in preseason form.
You mean none of the blame goes to Winston? (serious qustion- I didn't see the game)
Jameis was off on a few to him. A DB made a great play on a deep ball right in his hands also. But even the easy catches weren't easy for some reason.

The timing on the out routes between the two is not there yet either...that should improve.

Winston threw plenty of bad passes. Evans dropped plenty of good throws.
Ya, some ugly drops.

But since this was technically his "Week 1" catching passes, Ill let it slide as knocking the rust off.

In hindsight, a dud is not too surprising. Here's the top WR against Norman/Carolina the last few weeks (someone posted it in the Cooks thread last week).

Week 3 Cooks 7 for 79

Week 2 Hopkins 5 for 53

Week 1 Robinson 1 for 27

Week 17 Julio 4 for 58

Week 16 Gordon 4 for 45

Week 15 Evans 2 for 13, 1 TD

However, if he sucks against Jacksonville, I'll start to worry.

Don't quote me, but I think they had Norman on Vincent Jackson quite a bit and were doubling Evans. Without Sefarian Jenkins and/or a legitmate slot option most teams will do that against the Bucs.

I didn't watch the game apart from when it showed up on red zone, so I'll defer to what you saw.

So Mike Evans is an interesting little (well big) fella roaming the sideline down in Tampa... His #s last year as a rookie were borderline dominant, this year, not so much. He missed two games with an injury and has been a complete dud in 2 of the three since he's been active. His other game, however, he received a whopping 17 targets, dropping FIVE of them.

Bloom & many others have been hyping and ascending this guy into the top 10 and even higher yet so far, the production hasn't been there. On top of that, his rookie QB turned the rock over 5 times on sunday and targeted Vincent Jackson 15 times.

What kind of production is this guy going to put up ROS? WR1? Inconsistent WR2? Hit or miss flex play (basically what his numbers suggest through 3 games)

As someone who normally watches Tampa Bay (why, I don't know...), he'll flip flop. It doesn't look like he's fully recovered from his injury and even then he's going to suffer from a very inconsistent QB. That being said, he has a lot of talent. I expect going forward it to be a lot like last year. Very boom/bust.

I posted in the "who are you giving up on" thread, the data that shows Evans and Vincent Jackson were basically equally utilized last year based on targets, receptions, and yards. Only TDs showed a large disparity.

With this in mind, I went into redrafts thinking the two guys should be ranked pretty close, with a slight edge to Evans based upon age. That meant @ their ADPs, Evans was being overdrafted, and VJax underdrafted.

Which guy will put up better numbers in any given week is a coinflip IMO.

Any news out of Tampa on how Evans is looking at practice after the bye? Is he finally healthy? I know he has a rookie QB, but he didn't exactly have Tom Brady last year either. Hoping he starts to resemble a top receiver again.

He should definitely be healthier. Koetter had a recent press conference emphasizing the need to get him involved. That being said, I still expect the Bucs to lean on Doug Martin and the running game with Jameis under center.
