WR Nico Collins, HOU (5 Viewers)

There’s a simple solution to conundrums such as these. Many years ago, my league adopted an “emergency replacement player” policy. In this situation, I put Nico in a starting slot and state in a dedicated thread that “If Nico is out, player X starts in his place.”

If Nico is officially active, that’s that. If he’s officially out at kickoff, my previously announced emergency backup player is inserted into Nico’s spot in my starting lineup.

*This rule can apply to only one player in a starting lineup each week.

This system aligns with the competitive spirit of fantasy football and has worked perfectly.

Tough call for owners. Hamstrings are tricky. This hamstring injury was bad enough to IR him. Has to be on snap count right? How much? I bet that snap count decreases if either team pulls away. So let's assume its a close game. Do you go into it thinking you get him half of the 60 snaps a game Texans are getting? So 30? Passing on 20? Late game. So tough.

Considering I got Jamar chased in the league where I have collins, I may have to play him and hope for the best. My backup options just don't have the upside I need

He only needed a small handful of snaps the last game he played. If he's active I am playing him.

And that's the defense argument in the courtroom. It takes one play to score 10 pts. Which is prolly more points then most owners other options. Stupid football
 
No idea what to do with him, I picked up Legette who was the best available FA but now Nico is activated and likely to play, I guess I put him in? No idea what the snap count will be like etc.

Activated only means he's been removed from IR and is back on the regular roster. Whether he's playing or not is a different thing. He's listed as questionable, at the moment.

If I had to guess, I'd say he's playing but no guarantee.
 
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't there No value in activating him today if they're not going to play him? Doesn't he now take up an active roster spot?

There's value in it if they currently think there is a chance he'll be ready.

But, by activating him he does take up a spot on the game day roster, right?

So, they either think he'll play or they sacrificed a valuable roster spot for no reason.

If they thought he may not make it wouldn't they have waited until Monday/Tuesday etc?

I would say the value of having him activated is proportional to the probability that they believe he will be able to play. So, very doubtful that they would activate him if they believe it's 5%. But if they believe it's 80%? Could be totally worth the roster spot.
