It’s May, dude. This will go away long before the season starts. Lawsuit = settlement. I’m not sweating this at allOf course because I just traded for him.........Honestly I actually forgot about that incident. Had I thought this through I can say I probably would not have traded for him.

C’mon, you know. I’m brilliant.I'm now trying to decide if your "smart". I've concluded you are smart because I still don't know how to quote two different things with comments like that. Ha haIs he Joey….

Antonio Brown and Deshaun Watson were sent away for extremely long times over civil lawsuits.Whether one agrees or not, civil lawsuits mean very little to the NFL.
Those cases were a bit different though, right?Antonio Brown and Deshaun Watson were sent away for extremely long times over civil lawsuits.Whether one agrees or not, civil lawsuits mean very little to the NFL.
I mean every case is different, those two are not like each other at all really. Those cases were a bit different though, right?Antonio Brown and Deshaun Watson were sent away for extremely long times over civil lawsuits.Whether one agrees or not, civil lawsuits mean very little to the NFL.
He’s reportedly fully recovered. Patrick Mahomes just went on social media and said he looks “like pre-injury self”, and there’s a video I posted above of him making crazy cuts on a fast cone drill.I'm betting Chiefs' major decision-makers took Jalen Royals as possible replacement of Rashee Rice due to possibility of slow recovery from his claustrophobic knee injury last year or increasing legal liability.
Forget it he’s on a roll.claustrophobic?
AB also pleaded no contest to felony burglary and battery a month before his suspension, I imagine that factored in a bit (not too minimize his alleged multiple sexual assaults and rape per the civil suit.) Watson's situation was so beyond the pale it's not even worth bringing up as an actual example.I mean every case is different, those two are not like each other at all really. Those cases were a bit different though, right?Antonio Brown and Deshaun Watson were sent away for extremely long times over civil lawsuits.Whether one agrees or not, civil lawsuits mean very little to the NFL.
I think you are understimating PR in both cases and Rice is also facing felony charges.AB also pleaded no contest to felony burglary and battery a month before his suspension, I imagine that factored in a bit (not too minimize his alleged multiple sexual assaults and rape per the civil suit.) 100% same. He looked elite. Yes it’s a cone drill, but that movement spoke volumes about his knee. This is the time of year where I don't believe what Andy Reid says or what Patrick Mahomes says. I believe my eyes and videos. The video I saw of Rice running through drills is what matters to me. It was May and he didn't look like an athlete going slow in recovery. Imo
Yep - I quoted him earlier in this topic saying that very thing.According to Drew Davenport there is almost zero chance Rice is suspended this season. DD is a lawyer and has been very accurate about his legal predictions related to fantasy. Highly recommend follow on X. @DrewDavenportFF
if he only gets 1-2 games.....KC haters/Chiefs fatigue mafia and those that think KC gets preferential treatment will be out with lanterns and pitchforks...I disagree losing Rice for an extended period is killing the cash cow....KC will go on about their business and the majority will still tune in cause they still want to see them lose....Rice isn't the straw stirring the drink here....I don’t disagree with much of this, but will add a couple of points to consider. Please note I am not making any moral judgements here, nor condoning what I believe is likely:for FF...the biggest key is the timing of the court proceedings...
I'm a KC fan, but the league has to send a message here after the verdict and IMO it should be pretty severe....he is looking at things that can be proven by video....not he said she said of witnesses, etc....he was driving recklessly, with no regard to others and endangering innocent lives.....caused an accident at high speeds with multiple innocent victims....and he left the scene of an accident (and I will go ahead and say it)....like some gangster thug who just stole something.....it's not a good look...
he is probably already going to get away with being under the influence or whatever....but I think we all know what is going on here...this to me is the exact type of thing that the NFL needs to come down hard on to protect the image of the shield or whatever....these guys need to leave the gangster stuff at the door when they join the league.....I'm not really expecting "more" out of them then the general public/working force....but they need to send a message....
may be hard to know when a verdict or plea is agreed upon...but it should be at least an immediate 8 game suspension IMO...if not more....I can't just chalk it up to a bad decision....(in fact some including myself have said for him personally he may have made a good decision to leave)....but to me it doesn't change what the length of the suspension should be...I'm drafting accordingly...
• the NFL has a habit of being a post hoc eval penalty type team. Nobody got killed. The injuries reported were minor (and some will go away with payola). That could help to keep the penalty milder than you’re asserting here.
• Rice behavior since has been good. He’s doing / saying the right things.
• the more time goes by, the softer a PR hit the league takes if they dole out minimal punishment.
• finally, the NFL isn’t in the habit of killing their cash cows. The Chiefs are must-see TV. Suspending Rice impacts the Chiefs.
Do I know any of that for a fact? Of course not. Just wild speculation based on what I’ve seen in the past. They tend to issue harsher penalties based on outcomes rather than circumstances.
Yeah, Rice’s circumstances were horrible. But the outcome (thank goodness) wasn’t that bad.
I believe it’ll be 4 games reduces to 2, or 3 reduced to 1 with some sort of community service.
Optimistic perhaps, but I’ve been guilty in the past of guessing the proper moral penalty and I’ve been proved wrong by the NFL’s lack of concern for that time and time again. Makes me cynical as hell that some major punishment will be issued.
This is the biggest issue - he has not made smart decisions and I don't think that will change. I sure hope it does but it is very risky. He's a guy that decided racing and stunting on a busy freeway was a good idea, then when he caused a significant multi-car crash he though fleeing the scene was a good idea.Injury aside, usually stupid people don’t suddenly become smart. Sometimes they do, but most of the time they don’t. No way in hell would I invest a lot into Rice.I think one thing we know about the NFL is this we don't know anything about the NFL. Football is gonna football. Could Royals come in and just take over? I guess. I just go back to the first handful of games last year. Mahomes was just peppering the best wr in the team. They just clicked. Slants. Screens. 3rd downs. Was just beautiful to watch. I just don't see how that doesn't happen again. But. Football will football. I'm buying.I think this is a narrative that Royals shareholders would love to become reality.Could a look a like in Jalen Royals come in and take the shine off of Rice. Worthy the deep guy with Rice and Royals manning other 2 spots but Royals poaching some expected targets.
I see that as a long shot. As a rookie he’s likely a special teamer. Maybe a couple big catches here and there.
I know he’s getting a lot of love as a “Rashee clone” in FF circles, but there’s a reason Royals went in the 4th round.
Last I checked the NFL couldn’t care less about that.if he only gets 1-2 games.....KC haters/Chiefs fatigue mafia and those that think KC gets preferential treatment will be out with lanterns and pitchforks

The Kansas City Star’s Sam McDowell reports Rashee Rice (knee) was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice.
For what it’s worth, McDowell also noted that Rice had a good day. Patrick Mahomes told reporters last week that Rice had “no limitations” after suffering a season-ending injury in 2024. Rice, however, was held out of practice with an illness but is back in action as of Wednesday. All signs point to Rice being a full-go heading into Week 1 if his legal situation remains in limbo. Rice caught 24 passes for 288 yards and two scores in three games before going down with the knee injury last year. Even with an ADP quickly making its way into the third round in early drafts, Rice looks like a clear breakout target this summer

Rashee Rice looking as advertised last week

Just wrapping up our media viewing at Chiefs OTAs.
Rashee Rice, a full participant, had a good day.
Josh Simmons took part in some team drills.
It’s June 4.
Looks like Royals might have to wait just a bit to be his replacement.

Rashee Rice’s success rate vs. zone last season was 89.8%, a 99th % outcome. The 5th best mark EVER in the @RecepPerception database behind 3 Antonio Brown seasons and a Cooper Kupp year. Small sample size, but his zone-beating ability is obviously elite.

Probably the most consequential result from the Year 3 WR drop so far. Wish we had seen it play out over a full season.

Yeah I think there is a lot of community wide hesitation because of the uncertainty between Rice Worthy and even Hollywood, along with the sort of impending "is Kelce done or if not then when?" Plus the legal stuff etc.Seems like a pivotal point for a buy window in dynasty. His value only increases with more notes/videos of him looking good. He is a bit older for a third year player (25) and the knucklehead factor could come into play whether KC re-signs him or not. Risk/reward play that could pay off or another incident/injury occurs that sucks the air out of the balloon.

All the more reason that the time may be now as you say. Getting such high Reception Perception marks is going to reverberate a bit and if he emerges in-season it will be too late. I have a hard time believing any of these mouths are going to command a consistently dominant target share from week to week the way we fantasy managers want them to and so I'm generally not a buyer. But I sure see the possibility that one of them emerges and Rice seems to be the leader in the clubhouse. Worthy is intriguing as heck for me too though.
I'm a big Rice guy. My posts in this thread back that up. Your post is a lot of hopeful opinions about Rice. Not saying your wrong but it's hopeful. Honestly at this point I have a Rice and JSN in the same tier. • Rice is cripppled
• Rice is going to jail
• Rice will be suspended for the year
Most recently I saw a “should I accept this deal?” post with JSN as the WR on one side and Rice as the WR on the other, and almost every comment mentioned JSN >> Rice
I’m a big fan of JSN, but I find that ranking to be off by a sizable margin. We have no idea what JSN’s season will look like with Darnold under center, and more importantly shifting a % of snaps to the outside (at least that’s what’s been described as their intention in various updates I’ve read).
Meanwhile Rice looks fantastic at OTAs, Mahomes says he’s 100% back to normal, and prior to the injury Rice was on pace for roughly eleventy gazillion targets last year.
I see him as the clear WR1 in KC, and a potential top 10 WR. I’d be shocked if the Chiefs don’t extend him given that Kelce’s career is winding down, and Hollywood Brown isn’t exactly an alpha WR. I like Worthy, but I don’t see him as the same type of WR as Rice (I don’t think anyone does, but I can only speak for myself).
Pretty soon the pads will come out and videos of Rice will emerge of him dominating every kind of coverage like he was doing early last year when I envied those with shares.
I tried to buy low in 3 leagues, ended up buying relatively fair in one and striking out in the other 2 because those owners are paying attention.
I agree that any buy-low window he has will close pretty quickly. If you’re very lucky and play in a league with some of those Redditors you can probably get him cheap because he’s a cripple who will get suspended and put in prison.![]()

Possible sure. That deal from Reddit I described wasn’t straight up Rice for JSN, it also involved Barkley & Hall and a couple of picks. You have to be right about Rice for him to return *even* value on a straight up trade for JSN. For me I see too many whack a mole weeks where Rice hits a very low floor but JSN still gets peppered. And I don't see any world where the Rice side wins that trade. Best case it's break even.

I’m just saying the comments section was pretty wild to follow - the unwashed masses of Reddit are cursed with some of the strongest groupthink I’ve seen anywhere, and at the moment there seems to be a lot of misinformation on Rice’s health & legal status.
So if a buy-low window exists, it’s going to close pretty quickly when some of those beliefs don’t manifest.
Like @FarFromHome, I have them in roughly the same tier. I’m not sure which side I’d prefer in a 1:1. You might be correct about JSN (and I’m sure I’m higher on Darnold than you) but Mahomes >>> Darnold, and I’d probably use team/coaching/QB as the tiebreaker were I choosing between them.
It’ll be interesting to see where their respective ADP is for redraft come August when I may have to make that choice.
I don’t recommend it. lolyeah at some point I need to dive into Reddit more. I *think*
That’s tough. I’d prefer rice, but remember, I’m the optimistic one.Do I give up the 1.06 (probably Judkins as he's usually the 6th after some order of Jeanty, Hampton, Tet, Hunter and Henderson) for Rice?

I just don’t see any players outside the top 3-4 with Rice’s upside, especially if WR is your need. It’s not a great draft for WR on paper. I mean, some will probably emerge, but it’s kinda unpredictable.
I wouldn’t hesitate to pay 2025 1.06 for Rice, but that’s me.
I have 1.03. I'm sold on Hampton and I'm pretty sure he will be there after conversations with owner of pick 2. Rice owner has sniffed at my pick because he knows I'm a fan.
