WR Rashee Rice, KC (13 Viewers)

I like Rice and all but I think those expecting him to continue where he left off in 2024 will be disappointed. 32 percent target share isn't happening with Worthy now established, Brown healthy and Kelce still hanging around and supposedly in better shape this year.

I am buying in on Mahomes though . Traded for him in one dynasty and took him in a startup. Best weapons he has had in the last 3 seasons and I am buying into Fat Andy and Mahomes wanting to get back to throwing the ball all over the field.
I can get behind the more weapons with worthy added. But Real question..why do you believe Kelce is in better shape this year?

Just based on comments Mahomes made and Kelce claiming he was. Certainly don't claim it as fact, which is why I used "supposedly"

Edit to add: He "supposedly" has lost 25 pounds. He did look flabby last season. Understandable with his busy social life, but seems like he wants to make potentially his last season a good one.

“Best shape of his life SZN”

I don’t know how established I’d consider Worthy. He put up pretty mediocre wr stats when you consider he had virtually no competition in the wr room all year and he had a very bad 6.5 y/target. Rice had far better overall stats and averaged 9.2 y/target as a rookie.

I agree. I also see them as vastly different WRs with vastly different skill sets.

Rice is 6’1, 205, Worthy is 5’11, 172-ish

I don’t see any overlap there. I do however see a ton of overlap between Hollywood Brown (5’9”, 180) & Worthy - I believe they’re going to eat into each others numbers.

We’re all just guessing here, but I see Rice as a much more established prototypical X WR. Bigger route tree, 1st look from Mahomes type. Were I a betting man, I’d put all my $ on Rice being the clear WR1 on the Chiefs.

I don’t put any stock into the “I am in better/best shape ever” lines right now. Just don’t think it’s possible for every player to ever play football.

saw him on the stanley cup finals the other night and he did look like he lost a bunch of weight from last year.

I’m not sure that’s a good thing with a TE. He looked his normal size last year, he just looked slow and old.

Maybe the weight loss will help with that, but will he still be as dominant at a lighter weight.
Strongly disagree on the bolded. He had a roll around his mid section which is why he looked old and slow compared to 2023.

Obviously not expecting 2017 Kelce but won't be surprised if he has a better season as far as YPC.

Plus, he's not REALLY a TE. Big slot receiver.

Well, Worthy was a rookie. If you’re saying he didn’t look better towards time end of the season, I guess we have a completely different viewpoint.

Yeah but he does use his size to box out defenders. Dude is big and strong.

I guess time will tell. I agree he could return to form a bit, but man - he looked really, really bad.
A big slot receiver they use to run block with? Ha ha. Ya, when he is running routes I see the wr comparisons, but not many wrs are used like him in the running game. Maybe his weight loss changes that? Dudes 35. He can see the end. I think if Rice stayed healthy last year we would have seen the official passing of the torch as Mahomes first read. Imo

Not a KC expert but he seemed to be off the field a lot on running plays last year. Maybe not though. Never thought of him as much of a blocker.

Just jumping in on the Rice vs. JSN discussion. I’m a huge JSN fan, and would not trade him straight up for Rice. Admittedly I’m biased because I drafted him at 1.03 a couple years ago, but I really believe JSN is a superstar about to burst onto the scene.

I do like Rice though too. But I’d need more to swap for JSN.

I'm of similar opinion. I really like both but JSN is 2 years younger with less risk and a cleaner path to more targets

I only roster Rice in one league but if someone offered me JSN for him, I’d jump at it.

Would you take Lamb and 3.4 for Rice, 1.1 and 2.1?

That’s a tough one. I think it would depend on my roster. If I didn’t really need Jeanty and I was competing now, I’d probably pass. But there are a lot of scenarios where I’d accept that.

I think I would stick with Jeanty and take my chances on Rice. The 2.1 possibly lands you another WR dart throw (Burden, Golden, Higgins).

I would not. I believe JSN is safer but Rice has more upside. But that’s just me.

Agreed. Depends on roster. If I was deep enough behind Lamb (best case is another top 12 WR) then I’d probably make the trade and grab Jeanty + Rice + 2.1.

Remember when this guy crashed a car going 100 mph, into a bunch of people in other cars... then swiftly left the scene of the accident?
Then charged with eight felony counts, including aggravated assault and collision involving serious bodily injury.
He apologized publicly, admitting guilt.
NFL did nothing about it.
It really feels like the NFL wants KC to win. Any other team and this guys serving a 4 game suspension at some point.

Are people ignoring his injury last year as if it never happened?
I don’t think so. I think people are remembering how many targets and receptions he had before the injury, and hearing how good he looks in OTAs.

If he doesn’t miss time from another injury or a suspension, he’s a league-winner. There were 5-6 weeks last year he carried my team with eye-popping numbers.

I believe a significant suspension is still looming. How long did it take the league to suspend Kamara?

The NFL's stance is that it is "waiting for the legal system to play out".
Well over a year and Rashee Rice still does not have a trial date for his 8 felony criminal charges. Maybe they're waiting for his career to be over.

It took a year and a half for Alvin Kamara to receive a suspension, and it did not happen until his court case had been resolved. The NFL is being consistent.

Alvin Kamara:
  • February 2022: The incident in Las Vegas occurs.
  • July 2023: Kamara pleads no contest to a misdemeanor charge.
  • August 4, 2023: The NFL announces a three-game suspension.
Rashee Rice:
  • March 30, 2024: The street racing incident in Dallas occurs.
  • April 11, 2024: Dallas police issue an arrest warrant for Rice, and Rice turns himself in and is released on bond.
  • Rice faces 8 felony charges, no court date has been set that I can find.
  • No NFL suspension has been announced.

It was freakish more than anything not like it was a non contact
Not the point. Still an ACL tear. I wasn’t making a judgement about injury proneness.
I'm no doctor, but I thought it was an LCL and not an ACL. A quick search says ACL is worse. Also, we have some great footage of Rashee doing drills, and he looks great.

I think it's this video that's putting alot of Rashee truthers at peace.
