WR Rashid Shaheed, NO (1 Viewer)

Can you start Bub over Worthy though? Who else are Saints going to throw it to more upside for targets in ppr league

I woudn't start Bub over Worthy. I'm going to assume you are talking about this week.

For context, I have Shaheed, JuJu and Worthy in a League with a pretty steep entry and high payout.

I chose not to bid on Means, but I have a decent stable of WR, besides those guys: DvSmith, Waddle, JS-N, Wicks. (It's a League that somewhat favors RB's)

What do you think is going to happen in tonight's game? This is what I think:

Even with Surtain out, the Broncos Defense is one of the highest, if not the highest, ranked defensed for Week 7, according to most legit rankings.
It's Thursday Night Football, and this has the look of a pretty ugly matchup, unlike some of the gems we've been gifted with recently.
You're betting on a 5th Round non-premium Rookie QB/WR combo, with a lousy offensive line, and only one premium offensive playmaker (Kamara) to stress the defense.
There's game-speed tape on Rattler for Vance Joseph to dissect. The Blitz/Cover1 scheme should be brutally effective. Surtain/Shaheed losses cancel each other.
Kamara is a premium receiving RB and the centerpiece of the Offense. Broncos are somewhat average defending the TE. No Taysom. Kamara/Juwan Johnson are the keys.
Sean Payton returns to New Orleans on 'Drew Brees Night' - it's an intangible, but I with some of my FF decisions I operate by 'feel'; this doesn't feel right for the Saints prospects, IMHO.

What do you think will happen Sunday (Chiefs @ 49'ers? This is what I think:

The Chiefs are coming off their bye: rested, healthy and with 2 weeks to game-plan for Sunday's game @ a banged-up San Francisco. Chiefs offense is about to take off, IMHO.
Speaking of Sunday's game, it's the Super Bowl rematch, and San Fran has meaning to Andy Reid as well as the Chiefs. It's in his nature to have 'Special Sauce' cooking for this one.
I personally believe JuJu is legit. Healthy and motivated. Brought in specifically to back up Rice, he shined replacing Rice. That helps the whole offense, including Worthy.
I also believe in Kareem Hunt, and think he's more than enough to get the attention of, and put stress on the 49'ers defense.
Worthy will get carries, as well as figure in the pass game, with big-play potential both on the ground, and through the air.

Worthy all day, for me. YMMV.

PS: @WaltonGoggins , I see what you did there.

Shaheed places on in season IR. Will miss the next 4 games.

If I'm reading the Schefter report right, it's not actually getting to whether it is just 4 games or full season (which we were told should be known today). He's reporting only that Shaheed was officially placed on IR and will be out at least 4 weeks.

Glaring fact left out Worthy never got 8 targets this season in 5 games vs Bub did 1 game.
This is a 18 team 1 pt ppr league so waiver wire is bare and assume Bub will get more targets/catches opportunities and DEN gets up they won't care with dink and dunk receptions while Worthy it's a hit or miss 6 targets was his high and Hunt and Ju Ju adding more into the offense mix I'm just worried Worthy will get maybe 4 tops chances.
KC defense is also good. Not a question of the better team or maybe player but more opportunity.

But this is the Broncos. Broncos offense is not TB and aren't likely to put up more than 24 points. Plus, DN defense is much better than TB. The Saints were down huge last week and had to throw the entire second half. Don't see that recipe unfolding tonight. Again, I dotn mind him for the season as long a Shaheed is out, but not tonight drawing whoever the #1 DB is.
I can't address the points you've made or any of the others. For me it's a WR slot, @nfl.com their projections for Bateman & Means are actually very similar. Believe it or not, Means projection is better than that of Lazard or Pierce as well. Not unlike Walter right above, my options are limited. Means bounced around at the collegiate level, lacks the polish of other prospects. Cut a bit high, change of direction isn't a strength. But good size with excellent speed. Strong with big hands & listening to him, well spoken & a player that has his head on straight. I think both he & Rattler were drafted because they're system fits.

Bummer. Was so ready for him to go supernova with Olave out. Gotta pour one out. Was a great pick. Had him as my #3 most rostered WR at ~33% this one hurts.

Cleared a roster spot in 6/8 dynasties though!!

If you are picking between Bateman, Pierce, Lazard and Means, then yes. I would roll the dice w Means.

This happened fast. At one point I had Chase, Nico Collins, Shaheed, and Brian Thomas all at WR13 overall or above that and Davante sitting out for a trade. Now?

Nico's out, Shaheed is done for the year, and it looks like I am also. Tip your cap to the speeding Mack truck that is fantasy football and bid it adieu sometimes.

That's about as bittersweet, tongue-jammed-in-cheek a comment as I've seen on the boards in some time.

I didn't even notice him being gone on Sunday between the PR return for a touchdown and Tampa running all over New Orleans. I woke up Tuesday, saw he would have missed practice, and now he's done for the year. Wow. Sort of floored still. Watching last night's game was a far cry from the Week One Saints. They had an entirely different team out there than the one we got to witness the first two weeks of the year.

I hope he comes back full blast and that the Saints aren't entirely underwater and cap-stricken like they are now when he comes back. Carr had a connection with him on deep balls. Not every QB is willing to or can throw it up like that. Not every receiver can track it. It's an old-school play that needs a lot to go right for it to work, and it had been with those two.

Rattler isn't good for anyone, IMO. I believe Shough is a better talent and will very likely become their starter at some point this season. What he does with the opportunity remains to be seen.

#Saints unofficial Week 1 depth chart. Nothing super surprising, though one notable thing is that Rashid Shaheed is listed as the primary punt returner, but not listed among the kick returners.

Adam Koffler
Notable that Rashid Shaheed is not listed as a kick returner for the first time in his career

He’s going to be an 80-90% snap share guy and that should have fantasy managers very excited

Rashid Shaheed was WR12 overall in my league when he went down last year, which includes the game that he sat for at least half of. That said, you really have to look at his last year with the context of the deep ball in mind. He had at least two or three really long touchdowns that accounted for most of his fantasy points. He's a high-variance guy for sure. Maybe he learned his routes better and will supposedly be more involved in the offense, but it was a better deal when Derek Carr was there. I think Shaheed had three touchdowns (at least two) where the ball traveled over forty yards in the air. For all the garbage that Derek Carr got (and he did almost get Olave cooked and killed last year) those bombs he was throwing to Shaheed were pinpoint and I have absolutely no confidence that either Rattler or Shough can even approach the silver platter that Carr served those balls on for Rashid. I mean, I roster the guy as my WR6 (or WR7 depending), but I'm still not sanguine about this year. I hope to be proved pleasantly wrong.

Good info and I agree with most of this analysis... with the caveat that Rattler is more of a long ball aficionado and summer reports were that he was throwing some nice long bombs ... Shough is more dink & dunk Danny Dimes type 10 yards QB. I saw Rattler at South Carolina heaving some nice long throws and him being more likely to heave some long shots if the OL gives him time for it.
Overall, the offense will be lots of garbage time FF scoring and even if it's not a 65 yard TD Bomb, Shaheed could see some 25 yard routes for nice gains.

Rattler has all the physical tools you want in a franchise QB. His issues have been between the ears, and while they may (probably will?) resurface - especially if the OL struggles - he most certainly has the arm and mobilty of a high-end modern NFL QB.

Both Olave and Shaheed have huge sneaky upside this year as long as Rattler is starting and Favre-slingling. That ultimately may backfire and usher in Shough, though, at which point all bets are off. I am not as optimistic about the rookie's ability to support the offensive weapons on the team - at least not right away.

but I'm still not sanguine about this year
Now there's a word I haven't heard in a long time...and at 12:48 AM no less. Kudos rock!

I'm cautiously optimistic about Shaheed this year, because the Saints are going to be slinging it early and often. Garbage time will be had for sure, but as a speed merchant I just hope the knee is fully healed. All reports seem to be that he hasn't been limited, but in real game speed he needs to be 95% or more of what he was before speed-wise to be useful.

He is on the West Coast so it was 10:48 PM, but still.

I have Shaheed as my WR5 in my main redraft. He's as good a choice as anyone to plug in during bye weeks and hope that is when he has one of his huge games.

The zeros he can throw up are tough to swallow. I nearly choked on one last year. Best of luck with him. I really enjoy having him on my dynasty squad.
