I told you all last year, get rid. Zay is the monster in Baltimore.
This guy is at best the #3 option in a team that doesn't pass all that much. And honestly, with the rookies and Henry in town, he's probably the #5 option
When someone is drafting a WR 7-8 dart throw, Bateman seems like he's in a better situation than most other WRs in the 75-80 range. In redraft Zay is going 13-14 rounds ahead of Bateman so Zay being the man is well priced in.
I don't think he's a bad dart throw around WR 75-80. I just REALLY REALLY don't think he's going to be a bullseye. And so, I'll be looking really hard at other WR's in that range trying to find guys that I think have a better path to relevancy.
Bateman is going into his 4th year. His career high in targets was 68.
He played 16 games last year and earned a whopping 56 targets. That included 7 games that Andrews missed.
Flowers will probably take a step forward going into year 2. Andrews should be fully healthy.
The Ravens will want to run the ball quite a bit.
I just don't see it aligning to where you're starting Bateman with any confidence at any point in the season. Maybe in best ball he has a few nice spike weeks where he breaks 1 or 2 big plays.
That’s with OBJ there who’s not there any longer.
He’s the locked in WR2, and has a vastly different skill set than Flowers.
It’s a little disingenuous to point to his stats last year as the WR3, coming off of a preseason injury, and in the 1st year of Monken’s offense. I recall reading that he was never fully 100% speed-wise until 3/4 through the season.
Finally healthy, we’re talking about a 24 y/o former 1st round pick who’s fast, big, thick bodied, and can be a reliable chain mover.
I know his first 3 years were spotty - everyone knows . But IMO it’s worth looking at him with a fresh perspective.
I get folks are jaded. As a shareholder across 3 leagues, I sometimes feel the same. But I’ve rejected lowball offers because mile-high, I like the opportunity & love what his new OC is saying about him. I believe in the talent.
I would not rather have a mid-tier rookie WR. I think Bateman is going to deliver more - my projection is 75/840/6
Not earth shaking, but certainly WR2-worthy for FF purposes.
