WR Ricky Pearsall, SF (2 Viewers)

I think he’s droppable in redraft if you have a decent move to make. Who knows if he comes back in week 10 and stays healthy.

I dropped him today, mainly due to the volume concerns there, he will be 4th in the pecking order
If he’s healthy I think he’ll be the top option, not every week, but over the course of the ROS.

How big of an IF his health is we’ll see but I actually feel good about it for now, they sure don’t seem like they rushed him back out of need.
I feel like there is an 80% chance he has a 3 week stretch somewhere in the season where he's a top 5 WR and is winning people $$$

PCL injuries are tricky, and it sounds like the medical staff misdiagnosed a Grade 1-2 PCL sprain and it's more a Grade 2-3.

Moderate (Grade 2) tears: Can take three to four weeks to fully recover.
Severe (Grade 3) tears: If a non-surgical approach is taken, recovery can take a few months, but it may take six to 12 months to fully recover if surgery is needed.
He initially picked it up Week 3, and he re-aggravated it Week 4 in a collision (end of September/early October). It's been a month and he hasn't even practiced yet; that's a bad sign.

It's the same injury Bowers has been dealing with, only he suffered his a little earlier.

same injury but different grade. Bowers hurt it @Week 1 but played through it, irritating enough that he had to tap out Week 5.

I'm thinking Pearsall is closer to Grade 3.

None of us know and just speculating but I think they are close to or the same grade and their return to play timeline from the original injury will be similar.

I know you posted some info and I'm not saying it's wrong but I had looked this up back when Bowers got hurt and read a grade one sprain ranges from 2-6 weeks and a grade two is 6-12 weeks and the range I think these two hit will be high end of grade one time frame, lowest end of grade 2 depending on if we are counting from games missed or timeframe from initial injury. Anything grade 3 is pretty much the season and I don't think that's the case here with Pearsall. Is that what you think? Personally I think he's actually going to play next week.

If we could just get the governor of Louisiana to come out and say something bad about the 49ers medical staff....
Louisiana?

sigh. its a bad sign when you have to explain your jokes.
Sorry. No one loves a good pun more han me, but I just didn't pick up on that one.
I love a good pun too but I still haven't figured it out.
I think it has more to do with current events

Oh, like that foot-ball sports thing people talk about sometimes? Yeah I only follow fantasy football.

No need to rush him back.
I'm just afraid he's gonna get lost in the shuffle, with too many mouths to feed in San Fran. Aiyuk back soon too.with Kittle, J Jennings CMC ,Watkins getting some run now n even Bourne..
He'll be getting 5-6 targets most weeks.. WR 2/3 ros, when healthy.

Aiyuk apparently still not close. They are talking like he might not make it before the bye. At which point, who cares since their bye is week 14.

IMO, the Niners are playing the long-game with Pearsall, Purdy, and Aiyuk. They’re getting decent production at their positions and winning without them, so there’s no need to rush their recoveries. It’s better to make sure they’re at full-strength (or close to it) heading into the end of the season.

*I think you’ll see more urgency to get them back on the field if/ when the playoff picture clarifies a bit and it looks like the Niners need Ws.*

I've been holding all season in a 12-team PPR league and just picked him up last week in a 14-team non-PPR where my WRs are trashed. I had to take the chance, and figured he was on track to return this week, but today's news is very discouraging. I'll continue holding in both leagues for now, but let's see what kind of news we get in the next few days

You're wasting your time thinking about him and posting here about him. He's not playing anytime soon. Neither is Aiyuk. Learn to live with Jennings, Kittle, and McCaffrey.

All you can do at this point is hold. And just like the niners, hope you keep winning to get to the playoffs where you might be able to use him.

Or DROP if you’ve been plagued by injuries and bye weeks and have run out of IR slots.

This is the reality of fantasy football in 2025.

Bowers gives me hope that Ricky can come back and hit the ground running. Holding in my IR league but unfortunately had to drop in leagues that don't have IR.

If he doesn’t get in at least a limited practice by Friday, he’s a drop for me. I’d rather use the roster spot to handcuff one of my RB.
Yeah, I don’t see him as a mandatory hold anymore, not if he doesn’t start practicing soon. Is he even doing work off to the side?

I still think the most likely outcomes are that he returns in week 11 or week 12. But, the probability of him sitting out through the week 14 bye keeps rising.

shouldn't the doctors being paid by the team know if a guy is going to be back in less than 4 games or not?
and the screwy part isn't that they are coming back in week 5 so it was close to 4 and the doctors might have thought 3 weeks but turned out to be 5. They are pushing 6+ weeks so quite a bit of a miss.

ETA: Bucky also in the same situation of 6+ weeks

Strange year - so many players that should have been IR but just linger each week.
That's the part I don't get. We're just guys on the Internet but shouldn't the doctors being paid by the team know if a guy is going to be back in less than 4 games or not?
The lack of IR usage could relate to the limited number of players teams can designate to return (which I believe is 8).

Bald Bowser and IR spot are the only two things keeping pretty Ricky on my roster. I just wish the yahoos at Yahoo would keep him designated as 'O' until he actually logs a practice. Sux having to manage around his designation reset until late in each week when he gets reclassified as 'O' once again.
